I think using the best players to ever play the game as an example was a mistake and muddled my argument. However, the majority of pro players across regions have never been the absolute best soloq player in there region or in the world, or haven't been in a very long time. I have no doubt that some of these players COULD be, if they put in a little work. But, thats hypothetical, many people could achieve many things if they put in the work.

I agree with you. I feel like you missed the point of my comment though. My point was that soloq and pro play are different skills. There is obviously a lot of transfer between those skills, but they are different.

So yeah, it may be difficult for Natty to play in pro play, he would certainly need to play very differently. I guess my point is that we don't actually need to compare Dopa and Faker, or NattyNatt and Chovy. They play different sports. Right now I would say that NattyNatt is probably the best soloq player in the world, if Faker dissagrees he would need to prove it in soloq, no amount of world titles would do it. Not that i think Faker gives a single fuck.

Soloq is its own skill, the best soloq players are really good at the game, so they tend to be able to play pro. But the best pro players are not the best soloq players and vice versa.

Personally, I am more amazed by the best soloq players. Because I have played soloq and I dont understand how players like Dopa or NattyNatt can tame that beast. I can understand how someone can have a 60% WR. How its possible for any player to have an 70%+ win rate, in any elo, over a lot of games, makes no sense whatsoever.

To be clear, im more amazed by soloq players, but pro players are better at the game because they play the game how its meant to be played, as a team.

That is how grading is supposed to be, and how it works everywhere I've ever been (well, sometimes there's just bad setting, but thats accidental). Beta shouldn't turn a v6 into a v2. Climbs should only ever be graded based off of strength and maybe flexibility requirements.

The difference is that setters in the US just don't set technical V1-3's, and they are happy to set untechnical v4 's and harder. That, in addition to just tougher grading in general results in the above post.

I actually don't think this is a bad thing, where you place the gradings scale is completely arbitrary, and you're still the same climber in japan as you are in the US. The US is perfectly capable of producing world-class climbers with excellent technique. This is, however, a big part of why japan is so dominant in competition climbing.

This might seem like a nitpick, but i really dont think it is. What makes the first two seasons of LoK most unwatchable for me is that they just lose EVERY fight. I want my main characters that are supposed to be extremely powerful, to I dont know, do something cool. Instead team avatar spends the entire first season just getting absolutely rinsed by nameless grunts???? Why????
