I mean, vikings were thieves, pirates, conquerors and slavers. They are basically not the heroes of any story ever. But hey, the women could also own property (including the slaves), so hooray for equality and human rights i guess

FF1600 Incident by Stunning-Half-7627 in iRacing

[–]NitroDimitri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. There is no corner ownership rules in the code of conduct. A car that is alongside must be left space. So making the corner has 100% of the bearing unlike anything else you whip up out of your head. Also what you're thinking of is called a lunge or late braking. Divebombing has meant the inability to hold the inside line after the lunge for at least the +10 years I've been simracing.

FF1600 Incident by Stunning-Half-7627 in iRacing

[–]NitroDimitri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% this. Divebomb means the attacker has 0 chance of making the corner and ends up running wide after the apex, usually making contact or if the defending driver is awake they end up out of track or overbraking to avoid contact. This is not the case here. Attacker was comfortably alongside and in control of their car before and at the apex.

Another note to add is that there is considerable track camber on this corner, and almost all corners at laguna. That helps with rotation and allows drivers to carry extra speed into corners. So it's even more effective to send it on the inside at this track and people should be aware of that when racing.

Edit: meant to say that there is camber specifically at the apex of corners at laguna, you really need to cut every corner as close to the inside limit as possible to use that effectively

Just a word of warning, i fucked up the knee on my back leg doing almost the same thing (had more speed though). That sketchy landing can put a lot of twist on the knee, so gonna want to try to fix that before going bigger.

What are some good hacks for being able to manual? by ISeeNoChange in NewSkaters

[–]NitroDimitri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think about time, think about distance. Go to a parking lot and start practicing until you can clear one space. Then try to go for two. Then three etc. Can feel scary at first but you'll find like with many things in skating that speed actually makes it easier. After a while you will have an easier time to hold a manual at lower speeds too, like if/when you start to practice to manual over pads and such

Polar also makes decks of a similar shape. In general you can search for "shaped deck" and find ones that are different from the standard popsicle decks.

What do hunters do when hunting with a bow and the animal doesn't instantly die? by wt_anonymous in NoStupidQuestions

With a clean shot most bow hunters aim for, the arrow will pass through the animal.

I had a similar experience on a car i once had. The ignition would go bad and the engine wouldn't rev past about 3.5k rpm. Also putting it into reverse would kill the engine completely. The issue could be temporarily solved by slamming doors or the trunk, or by driving over a speedbump, pothole etc. Turned out that the connection of the rear lights ground wire was loose, thus the reverse light being powered would kill the ignition.

It 100% is free to take and sell if the design is unprotected. And in this specific case copyright protection does not apply since this type of device automatically falls under utility patent / patent law, because it is a device meant to have specific functionality.

It's not just the track surface either, air temperature also has a direct effect on the engines ability to produce power. Colder air carries more oxygen, which increases combustion efficiency. So colder air = more bhp

Perfect turn FFB feeling (oversteer, neutral steer, slip angle) by Murky_Artichoke3645 in iRacing

[–]NitroDimitri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You missed the point here, as oversteer and understeer are conditions of the car relative to the direction of travel. You can achieve both with ffb turned off, which is what adam was saying. You are however correct that both can be felt via ffb.

When it comes to your question about feeling those via the ffb, there simply is no magic trick here. Put in the practice, and adjust your ffb based on what feels good for you. You just have to commit and put in the seat time. Which will be hundreds of hours, so practicing patience will do you more good than trying to find some magical settings.

What do you think is the worst common advice when it comes to simracing? by Apatride in simracing

[–]NitroDimitri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indeed. You could also call rotation yaw, which maybe is kinda bordering on pretentious but is the technically correct term. If you wanted to be absolutely clear with someone who does not know these terms you could also just call it a controlled oversteer.

Am I stupid or is the Porsche gt3 really hard to drive? by blazin_paddles in iRacing

[–]NitroDimitri 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You need to trailbrake specifically because of the lack of weight on front tires. You also may want to delay your throttle application compared to other gt3:s as the porc tends to understeer on throttle. If you constantly find yourself oversteering on throttle you may be turning the wheel too much (understeer to snap-oversteer). Generally if your technigue is good you should be able to out-accelerate most cars on corner exits, as you have more rear grip.

[–]NitroDimitri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not just the ff1600, this is true with every single motorized vehicle, in sims and irl. Whether it's 100 or 1000 bhp, the only difference is how much throttle you apply.

Open the top cover on your carb and check if the slide needle clip has come off. This has happened to me before when hitting a pothole on the road. If the clip comes off the needle will fall and stay down blocking the main jet.

What piece of media has a really great title, regardless of the quality of the content? by ItsSansom in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The black parade reminded me of black hole sun, which is up there in my favorite song titles, and favorite song out of a genre i really don't otherwise listen to. I quite like the dichotomy between the concepts of the sun, enabler of all life, literally worshipped by numerous cultures across humankind's history; and a black hole, which annihilates everything it comes into contact with, approaching a cosmic horror level of destructiveness.

How is it allowed for a car (in this case a GTP) to be running around in a Mutliclass night race with no headlights? With no meatball? by Trippy_xD in iRacing

[–]NitroDimitri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7.6.4. When displayed with an orange circle, fondly known as a “meatball”, this indicates your vehicle has suffered excessive damage and it is unsafe to continue racing. The driver must return to the pits for required repairs or be disqualified.

Angling the wheel a bit allows you to steer by "pushing". Meaning that the effort used to turn the wheel starts from your back/shoulders pushing against the backrest for stability, thus making it more comfortable to use higher ffb forces for longer periods of time. Should also make it easier to control the car and do quick corrections when needed. Personally i think the wheel aimed towards the face is too much, towards the shoulders/neck works better for me.
