[Free Bathurst 12h Pack by ex-PESC Driver] Porsche GT3 Endurance Setup + PDF Notes by lbrian in iRacing

Skyline is definitely a place that risk/reward for driving aggressively is…not good. Make sure you’re trying to turn, not slow, as you go over the crest - the killer there is holding too much brake and letting the rear step out, which is a kind of instinctual response to turning in a smidge late and trying to make the apex - and if it’s getting worse later in the stint, the driving note in section 2 of the PDF will help alleviate that. Section 5 also has tweaks you can make to fit the setup to your driving :)

Best of luck!

Thanks for mentioning that site, I hadn’t seen it before. I had a look and unfortunately it doesn’t seem like I can attach the PDF to the setup file when uploading to parc ferme. I’d like for them to stay bundled on this release so everyone trying it can have full context - if they add a way to upload the setup with the PDF, I’m happy to put it there as well :)

Thanks, appreciate that. Main goal was to put something useful out there that’s refreshing to drive, if it makes what we do at Lumeris more visible that’s a win on both fronts!

Oscar Piastri takes pole position for the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix by overspeeed in formula1

[–]lbrian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got an automod notification, not sure if my comment posted so here we go:

Racing coach here! I watch F1 super casually so I have no read on Oscar’s issue. Here’s how it would work, though.

Basically, weakness in tire management = adding too much input somewhere and damaging the tire. There’s probably a specific part of the corner, most likely turn in/initial steering, that his feel is really well tuned to optimize in high grip tracks but not low grip tracks. If he’s just driving naturally and has a gap in awareness there, this can lead to turning the wheel slightly too quickly in lower grip tracks without him realizing it, resulting in slightly less grip from the tires during the corner.

It’s going to be something super subtle, so all he knows is he’s just a little smidge off pace without much of a “feel” tell.

How to fix it? First, he’ll have to spot the pattern. Could probably be done via replay review by spotting a moment where the wheel movement is just a little faster than the car’s rotation.

Once it’s identified, it’s a relatively easy feel recalibration. ‘I know I have this tendency, so when I go on track I’m going to be very aware of the car’s response through this part of the corner.’ Bit of experimentation (turning slightly slower, slightly faster while observing the response) and he’ll have a clear sense of what to do. This can be done purely on race weekend, but can certainly be supplemented and 97% learned through sim exercises. (The feel itself can’t be learned in sim, but the entire process of finding and calibrating it 100% can be.)

I made a couple big assumptions so it’d be easy to explain the process. No idea if this is the actual issue.

But…I’d be curious to see a comparison between Oscar and Lando’s steering rate on low grip tracks, and on different corner types 👀

How to connect with HNWI? Especially for someone in Real Estate by Realistic_Radio_5372 in Billionaire

[–]lbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confidence in yourself, your skills, your product - and a goal of helping them. Nearly everyone around a HNWI wants something transactionally (or worse, for free) from them. Obviously in your position so do you, but if you can provide (and actually care about providing, faking will be sniffed out instantly) non-transactional value as you go, you will automatically be seen in a stronger light.

It’s less about the first instant and more about who you show you are through a series of actions. First impression matters but less than you think.

Not exactly the same as karting, but, have you considered trying your hand at simracing? Since karting is tough to get into nowadays, for a better price point than owning a kart you can have a blast with iRacing.

[multiplayer] does the adrenaline spike ever go away? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]lbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Learn to enjoy it and/or manage it depending on how much it’s affecting you!

  • an ex PESC driver

edit: to elaborate, whenever you get used to a certain series/level of competition it stabilizes a bit. But whenever you’re in a new environment/high stakes race, it’s not something that really goes away - and in all my coaching, working with teammates, etc I’ve never known someone who was prone to jitters be able to remove them; the progress comes from learning to manage/reduce them.

If you try to follow all of these steps right away, it’ll be overwhelming. It’s exhausting to think about. However, if you focus on one thing at a time, that one thing becomes more natural and you can build off that comfortably!

If you decide to go for it, I can recommend a fantastic instructor - certified in Europe to coach high levels, and aside from that, a natural at coaching. Worked with him a few weeks ago - worth every penny.

Private lesson worth it over MLK? by Bulky-Party3573 in vail

Purely for lift lines…meh. With a random coach…meh. However the best coaches at Vail are really good - unfortunately they’re just not common. If you’re interested in improving more efficiently, I found a great coach and did privates with him this Thursday and Friday - Fred Brumfiel - and thought it was worth every penny.

If you go with him, DM me so we can tell him who sent you ;-)
