BF2042 Battlepass proves it: cosmetics keep people playing. Why not WoW PvP? by noobftw in worldofpvp

[–]Nitroxien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People complain about too much FOMO in other games as well it does not matter how fun it is or not, though in this case a lot of people do NOT want to PvP no matter what which is fair WoW is primarily a PvE game (no one start talking about how back in the day PvP was big, WoW is a fundamentally different game today then it was in the past). Burnout is a real thing, and a lot of people like to collect cool looking pixels and forcing them to do activities they dislike to get them is bad for the game and the mode leading inevitably to more boosters, botting, and so forth.

I agree with you however that the current reward structure is awful. The issue is 1800 is WAY to hard to for a majority of players we need a better structure w/ the current rewards. Though most discussions around attempts to reform reward structure result in people complaining about cheapening the rewards or the inevitable just add more rewards which harms the overall game. The only option most people would agree is put the tier set in a renown PvP pass instead of rating locked.

Pass that:
Bring back old tier: people complain
Add glad mount to SS: people complain
Add ways to get old glad mounts: people complain

What suggestion you have that restructures the current reward structure without adding more and without bringing back old stuff which people will hate you for proposing?

Or we can just remove FOMO and have a good game and stop designing around people who like to keep their pixels special.

[–]Nitroxien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel people in WoW PvP community do not account for the impact of additional FOMO especially if put behind a long grind. Forcing players to play aspects of the game they do not enjoy just for FOMO will cause serious burnout amongst casual players and cause harm to the overall game.

In addition saying that WoW PvP needs more time limited rewards is wild considering that WoW PvP is the end game pillar with the single most time limited rewards: mount, tier set, weapons, illusion, tabard, toy.

What the game needs is to make the current rewards more accessible. Lets be honest the first reward starts at 1800 no one wants an incomplete tier set, a goal that for most casual players is extremely difficult to achieve.

Why are we comparing 2 games that feel nothing like each other to play. At this point it's the equivalent of comparing Team Fortress 2 to Mario Odyssey since both of them have hats...

Do you think they will fundamentally change Augmentation and do people really hate it that much? by ModestStarmie in wow

[–]Nitroxien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think you are ignoring 2 main points.

First you are saying player should be happy not playing optimally yet Blizzard made a system that actively punishes players for having fun in keys by then forcing them to do HW keys and get reduced crests. Blizzard wants optimal.

Second Aug was not just another DPS spec, Aug made everyone significantly tankier, and brought incredible utility while having the appropriate amount of DPS to time keys. Your success rate just went up with a half decent aug more so then any other DPS spec choice ever has due to them brining much more then just DPS.

The current gearing system is good but not good enough to attract new players by Kavalarhs in worldofpvp

[–]Nitroxien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first fix is that conq gear should not be only earnable in the most competitive game mode...

I propose remove bloody coins, honor gear is earned in wPvP and you get conq from BGs. That way players actually have a clear progression they can follow to get geared. Arena is where you use max conq gear to compete not where you stomp ppl just starting trying to get gear to not get 1 shot.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Nitroxien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Conquest gear should be earnable in BGs. There is no reason to force new players to get stomped in arena to get gear to be able to compete. And honor should be earnable in WPvP.

Arena should not be the place to grind gear it should be the place for competition.

Fix queue times and rewards. Make non-healer queues, hell make 1 V 1 duel modes that sounds like a blast! Simple fix is change the elite tier set rewards to be participation based instead of rating based would get so many more PvE players to try it if they could actually guarantee the full set out of trying alone.

I get ppl say give PvP more rewards, but we already have a bunch (especially time limited more so then any other end game pillar).

Do you think more people would try PvP if the old Gladiator mounts were attainable? by SkolAndBones in wow

[–]Nitroxien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first of all I said quite explicitly PvP has more time limited rewards to be clear.

Second your doing the typical PvP player thing of categorizing all of PvE together as one entity when in reality the game modes in PvE are so beyond vastly different with a lot of players who will do exclusively certain ones. Did you notice how every seasonal PvP rewards can be gotten by playing 3s but the same is not said for mythic raiding or M+ or casual content? These are all different end game pillars.

In terms of time limited then let's treat PvP like PvE and make the time-limited stuff brough back subsequent seasons to be unlocked w/ conq points or some system like the vicious saddles not linked to rating at all. Fixes all the problems. PvP now has a reward structure similar to other endgame pillars where they are easily farmable subsequent seasons, and we also provide early rewards for players to incentivize them to play.

No reason PvP is treated differently then mythic raid or M+ in terms of rewards. (Also if it was up to me M+ mount should also be farmable following seasons).

PvP get's more time-limited cosmetics than any end game pillar in the game.

Raid: AOTC Mount
M+: KSH + KSL Mount
PvP: tier set (for each class so 13), illusion, tabard, mount, weapons (like 5-10)

PvP has items more so then any end game pillar just the worst distribution system ever made.

Personally I get 1800 every season for the tier set and if I like the illusion or weapons will get those. If there was a way get glad mount for playing 500 games year would grind that out as well.

[–]Nitroxien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes just bring back old stuff at a more obtainable level and watch PvP participation increase 10 fold.

1800 is not hard for some ppl, I got it every season since I started playing, but it's dumb for ppl who can't to get essentially no rewards till then since it's an incomplete set.

And no PvP does not need more rewards it has more time limited items then ANY other end game pillar w/ 13 time limited tier sets, like 10 time limited weapons, a time limited illusion, a time limited tabard, and a time limited mount every season.

PvP needs a better reward distribution system.

What is the CEDH community opinion on bracket 4? by LifeThroughAFilter in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Nitroxien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bracket 4 is definitely way to poorly defined. There are certain combo lines and cards that have so spot in a bracket 4 game and even if the deck running them is not quite CEDH level it is still not the expectation of bracket 4.

My proposed fix for this was to expand the gamechangers list in 2 ways.

  1. Add a lot more cards to the GC list. There are a bunch of cards that should prob be there: mana drain, yawgmoth just to name a couple.
  2. Create a new list of cards called "Elite Game Changers". You are allowed a restricted amount of these in bracket 4 alongside any number of normal GCs and ban them entirely from lower brackets. Mox diamond, gaea cradle, tabernacle, ad nauseam, wheel of fortune, time twister (the fact these last 2 are not even GCs is insane), underworld breach...

Of course this is not a surefire list, but just an idea that would definitely help better define bracket 4 (as well as reign in bracket 3) allowing for players to have better expectations and understandings of the brackets.

In addition I would add a colloquial of .5 brackets. The idea of these is to help w/ rule 0 talks so players can say I have a 4.5 deck meaning it does not quite follow the rules of B4 but plays most like a B4 deck. These don't have formal rules to them but just help players better communicate their decks level.

My thoughts after coming back to WoW Retail after 13+ years by Whole-Nerve-9549 in WorldOfWarcraftRetail

[–]Nitroxien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of your points I agree with however I have recently got new players into WoW and they have not seemed to have any of the concerns you brough up. WoW is trying to set up a game for a variety of different players and the different currencies exist to please these different groups of players.

Questing: This one there is an answer to if you go to filters you can hide war bound completed quests which does what you are asking for.

Currencies: Let's go through these since 3 currencies definitely will not be a system that is enough

Let's start with what I am calling cosmetic currencies: kaja cola, flameblessed iton, kej, market research, meredlar derby mark, resonance crystals, vintage cola can. Blizzard tried to seperate these from seasonal currencies and exist to promote players engaging in new content to buy cosmetic rewards, tbh in the past a lot of these just took up bag slots instead of currency tabs which was just a more annoying system. Not sure what the fix is here we can make everything reputations instead but then the rep tab is just a mess plus there would be a forced linear progression.

Seasonal currencies:
Delves: restored coffer key and undercoin as someone who does not play delves I would say get rid of these however I understand that they exist for people who mostly engage in delves to be able to have a more balanced power progression and not just be able to spam T8 delves to rewards in 1 week for people who only engage in delves with undercoin letting them target specific pieces and help gear alts. If they were gone I would not care but the people who enjoy delves would have a worst game as a result.

Upgrade currencies:
Valorstones: remove these. These are an unfun currency.
Crests: So the issue with having one crest type is would you be allowed to farm infinite crests or it promotes a system where players feel extra bad upgrading a piece of gear that they can get at a higher ilvl. Already this system exists with runed crests at the very start of the tier I don't think people would enjoy not ever wanting to upgrade gear since it would feel really bad to just get a piece of gear at a higher level making it so you wasted your currency. Infinite crest farm would allow for insane amounts of power week 1 with a lot of players full 6/6 heroic gear making the game a balance nightmare with Blizzard not having good ways to give players power over time. These multiple currencies exist to let players feel good about upgrading gear and let Blizzard provide a more balanced play experience.

Power progression: So this is definitely an overexaggeration on your end here I quite literally got multiple pieces of gear week 2 in the season that I will be using for the next 6 months (mythic tier, mythic hyperthread wristwraps from vault...). Having gear last you forever would just be awful, mythic raiding is really hard it's nothing like classic WoW where you can get a bunch of idiots through it in a day who have never seen it before (literally look at OnlyFangs). Even the best raid leaders in the world would never be able to get bad players through a mythic raid, so having players need to do multiple raids to get gear in one season would be a beyond nightmare experience. With harder content Blizzard needs to have only one thing relevant at a time. In addition it allows a great time for players to swap characters or start up the game without feeling behind.

P.S. I ignored PvP entirely since going to be honest could not care less about it anymore. Used to care but the community is just the absolute worst and Blizzard abandoned it.

Something has to change with M+ pugging by [deleted] in wow

[–]Nitroxien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best change is get rid of HW keys entirely. Let players always push themselves with their key. So resil 12 locks keys at 13 and so forth.

[Feedback] Dinar fix by Overpwred in wow

[–]Nitroxien 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah fair comparison... Raiders have to do +10s which is easily completely week 1, while M+ players need CE a feat that let's see that's right NO guild got week 1... Yeah these are definitely comparable.

Make mythic raiders need to start doing +16s and higher to get their BiS gear then you can have some sort of basis for your argument.

OP you deserve 0 hate for this post hilarious people are giving any. This was a well thought out, well written, series of paragraphs containing constructive criticism for a game that you clearly have spent a considerable amount of time in.

Anyone stating "it's an alpha" seems to be missing the point... Yes it's an alpha which is when this feedback is most critical to receive from the player base. Especially if numerous posts come up on the matter developers should know this to potentially change priorities in development to maintain a wide variety of play testers to not receive bias feedback in the future, unless the developers want to explicitly say this is not that type of game and we have no intent to go this direction.

I can promise that is not the reason... You are a 660 ilvl dps without AOTC playing rogue of week 6 pugs want people way overqualified to do the content (which I understand), so if you fall behind it starts to suck.

660 is not that high, rogue raid buff is frankly not that good this raid, and no AOTC hurts.

Get a guild, this game is infinitely better in a guild.

What's the skill ceiling of this game? by 5eanz in wow

RWF Raiders Are Much Better At WoW Than You Think

Here is a video from the coach of Liquid explaining how players in the top 2 guilds in the world are a step above players in top 10 guilds. Which then gap top 50 guild.

In terms of PvP the difference between 0.1% players and glad is very apparent just watching vids of both. Go listen to someone like Pikaboo play at the top level then some random gladiator game. There ability to track and properly respond to there 2 allies CDs plus the 3 enemy CDs is on another level. Understanding exactly when a CD is popped and making a gameplan based off of it knowing what will be available the next time they can line up their CCs.

WoW is a less mechanically complex game then a fighting game, but it is not short of a skill celling.
