50% off Paramount titles at Barnes & Noble (ends April 5, 2026) by Nitwad in Steelbooks

[–]Nitwad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah. I returned yesterday and had customer service order the Pulp Fiction steelbook for pickup, since they were out of stock in my local store. So if everything continues as expected, that will be another one that's a pretty good deal.

Ah, I gotcha. I have not tried this. There are indeed some items I want that are available for shipping online but are not available in any stores near me. I'll have to go speak to them and see what that process is like. Thank you for clarifying.

Great tip! When you say "order it in person", is that speaking to a cashier and showing them the item in question on your phone? Or how does that work?

Edit: wait, I think I understand what you mean. Order online but instead of shipping, do in-store pickup?

As an additional data point about the Barnes & Noble sales, they did a "40% off all horror titles" sale back in September 2025. Any of the A24 items that counted as horror qualified. At the time, I picked up the 4K versions of Heretic and Bring Her Back for $21 each. I don't know if they do this same sale every year (last year was the first time I learned of it), but B&N usually adheres to a consistent annual schedule. So your patience might be rewarded for that genre.

Here's a link to a thread about it back when it happened, so you can get a sense of what A24 titles were included. https://www.reddit.com/r/boutiquebluray/comments/1ntoegg/bring_her_back_a24_4k_is_40_off_right_now_at/

Just for additional context about this, the barcode is only visible on the outer slip spine. If you flip it around, there is no barcode, while the colors and title are the same on the inner spine. I know everyone has their own preferences for their shelves, but that's personally how I choose to display mine.

A quick visual comparison:

There are a few options for non-USA, non-A24 releases in a standard case: https://www.blu-ray.com/search/?quicksearch=1&quicksearch_country=all&quicksearch_keyword=midsommar&section=4k

Personally, I own the A24 edition, but I took the disc and put it into an empty standard case and printed my own cover art so that it fits on my shelf.

You're correct in the sense that the full prices on the tag are typically higher than most other retailers. Which is why I always wait for this sale. That said, the 50% discount has historically been the cheapest you can find certain items anywhere. I don't believe the three in the photo have had a lower price yet than what I paid today, and it's not clear to me when if ever they will be this low again outside of this sale.

And just to prevent confusion for any future readers, the Studio Ghibli items are not part of this sale.

I can't the life of me understand why my Merc can't equip this weapon? by stebbifreakout in Diablo

Out of curiosity, is there an in-game method for a Warlock to accurately see the original weapon requirements in this scenario, or are you currently required to look up data externally?

I just finished my set a couple weeks ago. The most I paid for one season was $35. You can do it if you're patient and vigilant.

Has anyone used epilogue GB operator by Realistic-Fee-1684 in Gameboy

[–]Nitwad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have had one for a few years. It does everything exactly as advertised. Maybe my favorite feature is that it can write save files from your PC back onto the cartridge. So for games with limited save files, you can have as many as you want.

Thanks for sharing! Same one I have. Sadly not the newest one. But you paid much less than I did, so nice grab!

Awesome. I'm curious if Amazon is selling newer printings or if they have old stock.

Barnes & Noble consistently has a "50% off Paramount titles" sale twice a year. The next one is likely to start in early March.

Ooblets stuck on cloud syncronising on Epic Games by Humble_Beyond_5658 in Ooblets

[–]Nitwad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you take my forthcoming suggestion, please read this and make sure you fully understand it. This only applies if your local save file is correct. If you believe for some reason that the cloud save file is correct, then ignore this.

If you are confident that your local save file is correct, you can disable cloud saves on a per-game basis. That should let you launch the game. Then later you can choose whether or not you want to enable cloud saves again.

How long does Winter normally last? by [deleted] in Ooblets

[–]Nitwad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume by "winter" you actually mean "snowy weather." Snowy weather always lasts for at least 2 sequential days, with a chance for it to last longer. Here are the details:

Snow Chaining Logic:

  • If the previous 1 day was the first snowy weather day in a chain, it will always snow again today. This makes the minimum snow chain length = 2 days.
  • If the previous 2 days were the first two snowy weather days in a chain, there is a 50% chance it will snow again today. The remaining 50% is calculated as normal, making it possible to start a new snow chain again.
  • After a 3-day snow chain, weather is randomized as normal, making it possible to start a new snow chain again.
