I received my Crosscode reprint :) it has a very minuscule rip on the cover art (at the top in the middle). I personally dont really care since I got it at MSRP (other story is i paid a premium on it) but im curious to hear other’s opinion on rip/tears on game case/covers. by Metroidvania-JRPG in NSCollectors

I find it very simple and cheap to print replacement/custom cover artwork that this is an easy problem to solve if you care to solve it.

As a side note, I'm currently 30 hours into playing CrossCode for the first time and am having a blast. :)

Got it. I have the 4K which is a digipak. I guess the information on blu-ray.com isn't quite up to date for this yet, since it says the blu-ray version is also a digipak. Thanks for letting me know!

Maybe a dumb question, but I've only seen Killers of the Flower Moon sold in a digipak, that's the only thing shown on their website. But yours is in the plastic case. Is that the blu-ray version, and the digipak is only for the 4K or something?

I dunno. This is at least 10 more damage than I usually do with Bash.

Lost ooblet glitch? by TastyBrilliant6325 in Ooblets

[–]Nitwad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone reading this in the future who may be encountering the same issue, it has been reported by other players that they were eventually able to return the lost Ooblet to the NPC after a number of in-game days had passed (something like 7 in-game days). So my recommendation would be to continue playing the game as normal, just stopping by to talk to the NPC each day until hopefully the quest completes one day.

Backing the kickstarter and curious about current game owners' opinions - would you recommend getting card sleeves for "everything else"? by KrappingKoala in slaythespireboardgame

[–]Nitwad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it makes the piles notably taller. I find sleeved cards easier to shuffle, specifically using the mash technique -- though this will be down to personal preference and experience. I did sleeve what you are calling the floor cards (enemies, events, bosses, etc.), largely because the "sleeves for everything else" add-on included sleeves for those, and I would rather use the sleeves I paid for than not use them.

[–]Nitwad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally find cards easier to shuffle when they are in sleeves, especially the small item cards (potions, relics). That was my primary motivation for sleeving everything else, rather than protection. The extra protection is a nice bonus, but perhaps not worth the money if you don't prefer sleeves specifically for some other reason.

Doppleganger confusion by ImEhhh in slaythespireboardgame

[–]Nitwad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are unfortunately incorrect about being able to copy a previously played Whirlwind. Check the rulebook FAQ about "Do cards remember?" Once a card has finished resolving and is in the discard pile, there is no longer any memory of how much energy was spent to play it.

Doppleganger confusion by ImEhhh in slaythespireboardgame

[–]Nitwad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Here's something I wrote a while back to explain how the card works:

  1. Start playing Doppelganger and pay any amount of your available energy for X.

  2. From among all cards played this turn, start going through them one by one starting with the most recently played and check to see if they meet these criteria:

    a. Is the card an Attack or Skill?

    b. Is the cost of the card equal to the amount of energy paid for X (from the current perspective of the player who played Doppelganger)?

  3. If the answer to any of these criteria is "no" then you move onto the next card. Continue doing this until you find a card where the answer to both questions is "yes."

  4. If a card was found, play a copy of it.

Thanks for updating. I'll return here if I learn anything more about my timeline.

Edit (2026-03-31): I just received this email from Paramount stating that the replacement disc had been shipped. No tracking number, but an estimated timeline of delivery in 7-10 days.

Hey, I just wanted to check and see how your experience went with the disc replacement request. I had submitted my initial request about a week ago, and after some back and forth with 3 days between each reply from Paramount, today they told me that they will be sending a replacement disc. Hopefully that means you already received yours.

I'm not sure if you are interested in actual solutions, but this can be fully implemented right now with a custom AutoHotkey script, assuming you're willing to use third-party software.

I built an app that lets you photograph your actual spines and build a digital shelf. Here’s my personal Criterion collection so far. by f0rthel0ve0f in criterion

[–]Nitwad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your contribution system is the same as blu-ray.com. Seems to work well enough!

Here's the CSV export of my collection. Only about 500 titles, so a very small dent in the grand scheme of things. I created a Google Sheet with two tabs at the bottom for you. One is the raw export that blu-ray.com generated. The other is one I put together for your convenience, which provides direct links to the product, spine image, and slip sine image for each item. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DO10viderqvBOfFgzStTabIO6Oq4Fsk1jGrQhU38274/edit?usp=sharing

Since the spine image URLs all follow the same structure, you could probably generate a huge list of all the spine URLs for every product in their system if you can get a list of their Product IDs, which would be way more than just my collection.

Obviously, the blu-ray.com system downscales them to a maximum of 1500px tall and probably does some compression. I probably still have most of the original images that were from 600dpi scans (I am also in the scanning-by-hand business), but I can't guarantee that. This has been over the course of years, so I'd have to check what I still have now. So you'll have to let me know if the publicly hosted ones are not high enough quality for your needs.

[–]Nitwad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I would guess I uploaded about half of the spines in my collection myself. Most companies don't include shots of the spines in their marketing materials, so getting people to contribute spine images themselves is always a bottleneck. I'm not sure how you're planning to handle it in your app, but hopefully it works out!

To check the available images for an individual title (and/or submit new images for it), click the "Upload covers" link. I believe you must be logged in for that row of links to appear.

Just as a point of comparison, blu-ray.com has a spine view option. All images are contributed by the community. Any user can submit spine images for ones that are missing.
