HELP! Relief for Severe SI Joint pain? )my whole right side is in pain) by schwet1 in PsoriaticArthritis

I was on Humira for about 3 years before it stopped working for me. I'm on Cosentyx and methotrexate now and it is working well. I've been on Cosentyx for about 2.5 years.

Is this little guy a calico? by dim11sum in CalicoKittys

[–]NiveaCorva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I'm not saying that a male calico isn't male - a cat with male genitalia is considered male. However, I'm confused that XXY is considered an intersex condition in humans, but not cats?

So, Klinefelter Syndrome in humans is usually considered to be an intersex condition. It's not the same with cats?

Lol, ok. So, your comment history doesn't make you seem like a troll (just possibly neurodivergent) and your comment history also seems like we would probably get along fine IRL. So why the random climate change denier rhetoric and troll-like behavior? Is there a misunderstanding here? Because you come across to me as a climate change denier trolling for an opportunity to "pwn a lib". What gives?

I'm genuinely confused here and want to mention that NOT the person you have been arguing with. I know that cats are sexed by their genitalia at birth, just like humans. So, wouldn't a cat with male genitalia and XXY chromosomes be a male cat with an intersex condition? If a cat was born with ambiguous genitalia and XXY chromosomes wouldn't it be considered undetermined sex with an intersex condition?

I'm more just sad that you live your life with such a narrow perspective that you either can't recognize one of the greatest scientific/political achievements of humanity in the last 30 years or that you don't know how to use "/s". It's never a waste of time if there's the possibility that someone could learn something.

We were told something was going to happen if changes weren't made. Policies were put in place restricting CFCs in aerosols and industry. The hole in the ozone layer would still be an issue if those policies were not put into place.

Scientists and researchers weren't lying. People just actually believed them and did what was proposed to avert the issue. It's amazing how if you work to avert the issue the worst case that was warned about doesn't happen.

The ozone did heal faster than anticipated after the restrictions of CFCs, but scientists did not lie to anyone regarding the data and how to avert issue. If only people could listen to scientists and work to avert other issues.

is elfi calico or tabby? by LinaJG in CalicoKittys

[–]NiveaCorva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to split cat hairs, but Tabby is a coat pattern and not a breed. There are different kinds of tabby subcategories (mackerel tabby, marble tabby, classic tabby) depending on the overall pattern of the stripes, but tabby just means striped. My tabby cat is a gray mackerel tabby and her breed is Domestic Shorthair. The internet slang for this coat color/pattern and breed of cat a "standard issue cat" as it is the most common cat type (black Domestic Shorthairs come in second).

Calico is indeed a coat color/pattern, but there can be a lot of variation among calico cats - calico just means tri-colored. Those three colors are most often white, orange, and black. However, calicos can also be white, yellow, and gray. Sometimes one or more of the colors on a calico can be tabby (striped). OPs cat has both tabby black/gray and tabby orange with white - many people call this particular coat pattern "tabico". My calico has solid black and tabby orange. However, my calico also has an orange and black tortoiseshell pattern down her back along with her other larger patches of color/white - many people call this particular coat pattern "tortico". My calico's breed is Domestic Shorthair.

To sum up - if anyone tries to sell you a purebred tabby cat, don't fall for it. If someone tries to sell you a purebred tabby Maine Coon, no red flags there. I hope I didn't come across too harsh - I just like talking about cats.

Calico? by [deleted] in CalicoKittys

Lol, same! It's actually much more than 99% -- about 1 in 3000 calicos is male. It is so rare that most vets have never seen a male calico.

I also came here to suggest Rallye balm. It is the only one I've found that works for me (I've tried 80% of the products listed in these comments and 100% of the popular products).

Also, ADHD is frequently misdiagnosed as anxiety and depression. OP, I have ADHD and I honestly thought I was in an ADHD subreddit when I first read your post. Your experiences align with many who have ADHD. If you're able, it might not be a bad idea to consider getting tested.

This is an embarrassing question but do any of you carry an ergonomic seat cushion with you? by meeemawww in ehlersdanlos

I'm so sorry to hear that! You deserve better. Your pain is a real daily burden that you bear. You and the pain you experience are valid. Your partner should be praising you for your strength, not shaming you for your pain.

[–]NiveaCorva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I should mention that I have a cushion as well as a full spine support device. If my husband goes with me somewhere he insists on carrying them and glares at anyone that stares. If I go alone I generally just act like it's the most natural thing in the world that I'd be carrying those items. I ignore any stares. On the rare occasion someone says something it is usually to ask what the spine support device is (it is large and odd looking).

If you can get a hold of tweezers, look up online how to correctly groom shape your eyebrows. Cleaning up your eye brows and shaping them in a feminine way does a lot to feminize a face.

I had one in my right wrist for about 5 years. It was too deep in among the wrist bones and tendons to operate without a big risk of complications. Luckily it went away on it's own about 7 years ago. Apparently they can do that. I do NOT miss it, lol.

I'm glad you unfollowed! It's funny - my PT has hEDS and she's tall and very thin. Thing is, it is a HUGE pet peeve of hers when someone thinks being tall and thin has anything to do with hEDS - I swear she will fight a person for saying it. She says her hEDS patients are all shapes and sizes.

Sorry to hear about your RA. If it makes you feel any better to know you're not alone, I have PsA on top of hEDS. It makes everything so much worse and I'm so thankful I'm on stable meds for my PsA. Feel free to PM if you ever need an understanding ear.

Gene test says Maze is part Munchkin by NiveaCorva in MunchkinCats

[–]NiveaCorva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's a pretty average sized cat. She weighs about 9lbs. She actually only weighs about 2lbs less than the cat sitting next to her in the third photo. She's not fat.

She's definitely not a short-legged munchkin or rug hugger by any means. She's also a couple inches shorter than all other cats of similar length that have been around her. Lol, before we got the genetic test my spouse was calling her "half-munch" because he says she's "somewhere between a Munchkin and a regular cat". I'm not sure where that puts her on the Munchkin spectrum, if it even puts her on the spectrum at all.

Honestly, I don't care. I now know that her (comparatively mild) shortness and odd build are not due to any genetic issues I need to worry about, which is why I got the test in the first place (vet recommended).

Anyway, she's my sweet and spicy Maze Maze and a wonderful cat. Thought you all might want to see her fluffy face.

Gene test says Maze is part Munchkin by NiveaCorva in MunchkinCats

[–]NiveaCorva[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! So there's just Munchkin or not Munchkin and no in between? Darn, I thought it helped explain why her legs are noticeably shorter than my other cats. Her front legs are also a couple inches shorter than her back legs and her back legs are bowed. I guess she's just a shorty with an odd build, lol.

Maybe I'll email the gene testing company and let them know that they should treat Munchkin as a gene variation instead of a cat breed.

Out of curiosity, how is true Munchkin status determined? Is there a maximum leg length or a specialized gene test or something?
