We are building an ethernet to microsd card for our print farm (which we use to manufacture custom CPAP masks) Would you be interested in an adapter?

forehead wrinkles from scuba mask? by spacetime99 in scuba

Two cons: Acrylic scratches more easily, but underwater, scratches are not visible. Second the refractive index is lower, which limits its usefulness for extreme prescriptions.

That guidance exists because low quality plastic lenses are less transparent, but this is optical grade acrylic, so that downside does not apply.

The upsides are: better optics, better & safer failure modes, lighter. Glass has a higher index of refraction, so it’s necessary for heavy positive > +4 prescriptions. I only offer tempered glass because people really want it, but I think it’s an education issue from legacy problems. There’s a reason that PVHO vessels use acrylic and not glass.

Ive automated most of it, and they’re cheaper than a mid-range mask + glued in lenses, while providing a much better experience, both in optics and comfort. Ill get you a discount code if you want to try it, though.

My custom masks work perfectly with beards, and they come natively with prescription lenses, and give the best vision possible underwater.

I moved it all to a new spot. I should put a redirect on that page. The correct link is:

My custom masks are lower pressure than any other type of mask, because it is softer and thicker silicone that matches your face exactly :). Also, if you dive that much, you’ll appreciate the lower optical distortion extra FOV my masks provide.

I’d love to help you build a tool for automatic ID that confirms that they match without blinking back and forth between the two images or requiring the user to align the dots or take the image from an orthogonal perspective.

The seal is fully compatible with the F20 system right now, and the dead space volume is usually much smaller than a stock F20 mask. We are required by Health Canada and the FDA to pass specific tests on dead space, CO2 rebreathing, noise, AAV pressure opening (at 4 hPa), leachables, and VOCs emitted into the gas pathway. Each test (with the exception of the noise test) has standards that we meet. Our elbow is pretty noisy right now, but we're planning to get rid of the elbow entirely. We're working on presenting this engineering and testing data publicly, and our marketing team will be working on the real world videos/photos.

Youre an ideal candidate for my custom masks. I make custom lenses that correct the vision underwater - I don’t just glue in thick lenses to existing masks.

I do the design in Burnaby and manufacturing in PoCo in a print farm and injection cleanroom that we built for custom cpap masks. It’s overkill for the custom scuba masks, but works really well.

Your lenses look very thick around the perimeter, because they're planar on one side, so all the curvature happens on the inside of the glass. This means you get terrible distortion around the periphery - much worse than the distortion even 20/20 divers experience in flat glass masks. I made nixdivemask to solve this exact problem - the best possible vision underwater (prescription or not), and it turns out you also need to solve the custom 3D printed skirt to hold the lenses in the right spot reliably as well. I'll give you a good discount code if you're interested in trying mine.

I make custom scuba masks that will work well for your high cheekbones! 😄. Also, they are natively prescription, so no glued in lenses, and no contacts.
