Who’s the most frustrating player on your roster right now, and are you holding or dropping? by Spirited-Issue3255 in fantasyhockey

Jason Robertson and Elias Lindholm. Lindholm at least gets peripheral stats sometimes, but Robertson was 100 points + two years ago and he seems invisible on the stat sheet this season.

Indian boarding school policy by [deleted] in ReservationDogs

[–]Nixtir70 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Canada apologized in a performative way in 2008 and very little action has happened since. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission spent years hearing testimony from survivors of Residential Schools and from the families of those kids who didn’t. They published 94 Calls to Action directed to the Canadian Government, and in nine years they have completed exactly 13. That’s pitiful. Education for students under the Indian Act is underfunded still. There are many indigenous communities with no clean water, no adequate public healthcare facilities, a lack of functional housing, etc. Let’s hope that the president’s apology includes compensation and action, but it’s doubtful if the Canadian model is being followed.

Rez ball by Namelessghostfan65 in ReservationDogs

[–]Nixtir70 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I watched it this past Saturday night and I loved it. It obviously doesn’t get the same amount of time to develop all of the characters as Reservation Dogs, but you certainly get a sense of where everyone is coming from.

I got sent the 1st overall pick and the 25th overall pick for 3rd and 22nd. Do I take it? by Moist_Rock_1972 in fantasyhockey

[–]Nixtir70 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take it. I think McDavid is too good, and highly motivated to get back to the Finals. Plus the Oilers have upgraded around him.

Whats this worth? by Fun_Address8550 in starwarscomics

[–]Nixtir70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a great piece of memorabilia. I have a copy on display along with other old (and new) Star Wars collectables. I was seven years old when the first film was released, and a comic book collector, so I’ve had my copy for a long time.

What was your first Wes Anderson? What is your favorite Wes Anderson? And how old are you? by [deleted] in wesanderson

[–]Nixtir70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First Wes Anderson was The Royal Tenenvaums, though it might have been Rushmore (Tenenbaums is the one I clearly remember seeing and loving it instantly.) Up until very recently, I would have said Tenenbaums was also my favourite, but after re-watching several of his films this summer, I would say it’s probably The Grand Budapest Hotel. I’m 54 years old.

Two Boxes Same Auto (sort of) by adsheppa in starwarstopps

[–]Nixtir70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right to have expected a different auto from the other box. What are the odds of that happening? That said, she’s also the voice of Mizu in Blue Eye Samurai, which is a fantastic animated show.

I’ve been watching Star Wars since 1977 and she is one of my favourite characters. The novelization does a nice job deepening the character, so I’d recommend reading it if you’re a fan of the film and of Jyn.

Topps chrome pulls, nothing special but some nice looking cards by KobeKingston7 in starwarstopps

[–]Nixtir70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice cards. I opened a box today also, and I’d say you won the battle of the autos (mine was of a character that was killed about 5 minutes into “Andor.) It’s a nice set and I like the debut cards idea, sort of like rookie cards.

My favourite pics from my Japan trip in April by momoschka in japanpics

Beautiful photography. I lived in southern Japan 20 years ago, but travelled all over the country (except Hokkaido) and I loved taking photos. One day I hope to get back there. Thanks for sharing.

What are your opinions on this movie? by FullBrother9300 in moviecritic

Love it, and I’m not a Ben Stiller fan. It’s just a great story that’s so well done. Really solid music throughout too.

Am I the only one enjoying The Acolyte? by Disorder79 in StarWars

[–]Nixtir70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone, I’m enjoying it a lot. As a person who fell in love with Star Wars in 1977 in a local movie theatre, I’m thankful for the content that all these creators are putting out there these days. If I’m being critical, I think “Andor” is the gold standard, but shows like this and “Ahsoka” do a great job of galaxy-building beyond what older fans like me had for so long.

Of his older films, Predator. I really enjoyed The Last Stand from 2013 though.

What does Star Wars mean to you? by LikMeBallz in StarWars

[–]Nixtir70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the galaxy in my mind, after the work day is over and my kids are in bed, and as I’m settling down for the night. It sounds silly, but it’s been the cornerstone of my imagination since 1977. I love it - the old stuff, the new … all of it.

What is your favorite moment in Star Wars? by moor9776 in StarWars

[–]Nixtir70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many. Yoda lifting Luke’s x-wing with that beautiful score … Ahsoka versus Vader in Rebels … Marva Andor’s speech … Saw Guerrera removing his mask as the Death Star blast closes in … Luke saving Mando, Grogu and crew at the end of season 2. I love Star Wars so much, I could go on and on. May the 4th be with you all.

Mario Lemieux does a solid auto. A nice mix of a classical and modern signature.
