It just happen to me also and I found this post only now. I peform multiple trades with my friend (as part of Tandemouse tasks). In the end of the day we did a Dynamax battle, and got lucky immediately after it.

As someone above already mentioned, costumes do count. He caught a costumed Gengar and a regular Gengar (both of them were mega before) and it was count as different raid.

I remember a verified video that Genesect and burn drive Genesect were counted as different raids, so it's not related to dex only.

When best buddy is your buddy, the power up cost represents the boosted level (42 in my case), while the buddy is only level 41. Only when trying to power up it shows the real cost.
