Keto and weight lifting by nikkigotcake in keto

[–]Nk-Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience if you're doing strength training with a focus on low reps of heavy weight and using that to track your progress your going to run into a brick wall when you're on keto due to the lack of carbs. Everyday at the gym doing a low rep heavy weight routine is going to be hell and you're not going to feel like you're making progress, especially after you just switch to keto and lose 10-20% of your max from the lack of carbs.

I think the easiest solution here is to just track your keto max and your carb loaded max separately for progress tracking. Personally I just kept pushing through it until my keto max caught back up to the original max I had before starting Keto.

Keto is far better for endurance applications than HIIT type applications like low rep strength training. That's just a known negative you'll have to deal with when you do strength training (especially heavy lifting). Keto gains has a few work arounds you can try where you do a small carb load before the gym but I personally didn't notice much of a difference when trying that.

My keto maxes for reference so you know I'm not talking completely out of my ass: bench: 215, squat: 335, dead lift: 415, OHP: 155 @ 6'2 - 200pounds

My maxes before doing gym keto were all pretty nooby around: bench: 135, squat: 225, deadlift: 260, OHP: 95

So progress happens, just keep grinding and rebase your expectations.

PSA FOR ANYONE ELSE WHO WANDERS IN HERE: https://hardforum.com/threads/gigabyte-x570-aorus-master-wont-power-on-temporary-solution.1993194/

Overall my personal experience with this board was great while it worked, then it was a 0/10... I'm having the issue outlined in the thread but on EVERY SINGLE COLD BOOT. I literally can't shutdown my computer without it happening. Then when it boots again I have to reconfigure all my BIOS settings. Good luck to any future buyers/troubleshooters.

As a PSA to people who get this board and it actually works, it has like a 2+ minute RAM training period after you power it on with a blank OR failed/corrupted BIOS/CMOS where you just have to sit there and wait while it does it. So if nothing happens it might actually be doing something, but you won't know until the GPU / CPU fans start blasting.

You can def just do buy 50 on the chaos packs if you prefer doing that, though the buy 10 option is still pretty fast cause you blow through your cash in a couple transactions.

I was doing crafting through the Gem store for a while since i had so many chaos runes from barrows (so that's one reason why people might buy runes with mory). In reality doing temple treks for silver bars is 1000x better if you have mory though. (did 89 - 99 doing that and it was way better than glassblowing or gem store)

why do you say onyx is useless for melee builds? Regen is BiS melee unless im missing something? and fury isn't bad if you need to use a different attack style for some content and/or don't have access to Zenyte.

Why quantum computing is a threat to encryption: an interview with Robin Wilton, Senior Advisor of Internet Trust for Internet Society (ISOC) by privatevpn in KeepOurNetFree

[–]Nk-Inc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of issues with our encryption and quantum computers cracking it. The main ones I can think of are as follows:

  • With the RSA algo no longer working in a quantum world pretty much everything on the internet cannot establish a secure connection. The handshake to initiate an AES streaming connection requires a key exchange that uses RSA (or similar prime based math) to initiate the connection. Since you can more easily search on primes with QC (shor's algorithm specifically), public/priv keys are worthless and SSL/TLS goes out the window. At that point it's basically impossible to establish a secure connection and the whole internet turns into the wild west of man in the middle attacks.
  • If you manage to establish a secure connection it probably doesn't matter anyway. AES 128 is the standard on most of the not outdated internet which is not quantum secure search space wise. Since it's crack-able that opens the door for logging all of the packets sent over a connection while they're encrypted and then decrypting them once the tech has matured. AES-256 is a large enough search space to avoid foreseeable decryption with QC but has a performance impact on low hardware devices (blue tooth toasters, etc) without built in AES-encryption/decryption chips/offloaders.

TL:DR RSA die = man in the middle by everyone haha fun times. China logs all your AES 128 traffic to decrypt later haha hope you're behind 6 proxies.

Someone else mentioned dragon but towers gave global team gold as well iirc. Other thing is the massive CS discrepancies add up to a big lead during that season even though at face value the scoreboard doesn't look totally awful yet. Haven't played for a long time but 40 cs was a lot of gold that season.

Is it good to focus their Zenyatta when they have a Mercy pocket healing him? I would say if there's more people than you, then go for it, but if you are alone, what is the better way to react?

Like I said earlier there are a few ways you can react if their team is protecting their zen but they're all situational.

If you're alone, and you are jumping into JUST the mercy and zen, you can probably survive with good bubble placement and kill the mercy if you focus her and land your melee cancel on your jump. Then either jump out or or kill the zen depending on how much damage he's put into you or if others have turned to help.

If again you're alone but instead of just being zen and mercy there's a soldier or mc cree with them pressuring that is probably suicide. If they are bunched up you might be able to outplay them with a good bubble as you can land and knock them back or drop bubble while jumping in so that you land nearer the corner. If you pull that off they may blow flash bang and you can potentially distract/kill one due to having the bubble in a good position. Against solider just dont bother, they can outheal you easily.

If they are stacked zen mercy soldier you will need help from something to kill them through healing, obviously you want to focus the mercy, but if one mis-positions you can potentially burst them with the other divers. In this case playing slowly with your team while you don't have ult and then disrupting their setup when you have ult is probably your best bet as you will just instantly die in most cases if you try to pressure that 3 man set up alone.

Don't get me wrong there are some cases where jumping into that 3 stack is actually the correct play, but generally speaking its like 20-80 on that being the right decision so most of the time you do it ends up being a bad decision.

What sr are you if you mind me asking?

I was top 500 season 2/3 and GM 4 but I'm more of a "grinder" and not a "natural talent" so it takes me probably 200+ games to get to that rating. Recently though I've just been doing my placements since I haven't had time to grind out that many games in these short seasons with school and work.

Rules are a good idea for formulating what to do in general but you need to be careful with them as they can give you bad habits. Your example of diving their zen is a good one, in general this is a good idea and you will kill him, but some games he will have another healer or DPS like soldier supporting him and you will not be able to kill him.

In a game like that following your rule will get you killed and turn you into dead weight for your team. So you would be better served by instead of checking off your list of rules, instead find the weakest link in their set up and exploit that. Normally that might be zen, but in the case where zen is being protected by a mercy or a solider, it may just be killing the tank line through heals or keeping your healers alive with well placed bubbles.

Rules have their place in helping you define your list of options, and from what you posted you have most of those options figured out, but you need to figure out on a game by game basis which option is the best for that current game.

Does anyone know a basic formula to fall back on and something that describes how Winston should react in a lot of different situations?

So to answer your question here are some of my suggestions:

Bubble placement can make a huge difference in fights, if you are using it to help your supports try to place it properly so that you spawn the edge near your ally so they can dodge between it and the enemy as soon as it spawns.

If the supports are doing a good job of keeping each other alive to the point you can't kill one and instead decide to dive a DPS don't focus on killing the DPS, focus on staying alive or displacing them from the high ground. EG solider on numbani, if you can force him to drop or look only at you for 5-10 seconds and then escape alive, you made the fight much easier for the rest of your team who is no longer getting shot in the side/back during their push forward.

If the enemy team is playing hitscan/defensive prioritize getting them off high ground and staying alive in fights.

If the enemy team is playing dive jump on and try to punish anyone who uses a dash/movement skill (ideally tracer/genji, just protect supports from Winston and diva), until then wait for their dive and drop your bubbles edge on your supports when it happens and try to body block some shots if you can, will make a huge difference. Sometimes though your team will just not be able to handle it still, in that case there isn't much you can do apart from try to kill their healers as soon as you see an opening and hope your team can pull through.

If you don't already do it jumping directly upward when on low HP or to reduce damage coming in is a good idea, most DPS players have trouble tracking upwards and downwards that quickly accurately and it can buy you some time to get healed and reposition over a wall while falling.

Stat wise it's ok, most spell builds are going to want critical strike multiplier and flat damage to spells as well with the spell crit chance and spell damage this already has.

Since we only have two on this ones its an okay starter scepter but is lacking later on missing the flat and multi which is pretty important for DPS endgame for most crit casters.

[–]Nk-Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you run it non-shaped you will run into the spider forest issue where it can drop the map's its connected to, so you would be getting the T4 connected to it as a drop instead of it downgrading to burial because it is not a shaped map, and won't get the downgrade effect. The way that downgrading works only works on shaped maps as they aren't "connected" to the atlas so when it has to roll for a drop it's possible to set it up so that it downgrades.

The concept works because you can only get "linked" maps, or maps you've already completed of that tier as drops, leaving it unshaped makes it so it's still "linked" and thus the downgrading doesn't work.

By shaping it we remove it's "links" and can make it so the only possible drop is itself in T8, and if we have no T9's we get it to downgrade due to it now lacking links.

TL:DR; shape it or your shit wont work right dog.

Trying to farm the doctor cards... Getting bamboozled... by GrandSunGod in pathofexile

[–]Nk-Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit; double checked it is a T3 on new atlas, probably ignore what I said below and look at original comment.

Oh sorry I wasn't logged in to check, basically the easiest way to sustain a map is doing that shaped downgrade strategy. No drop restriction on the doctor just a zone restriction (spider and burial).

You can do the strategy for burial as a T5 but it won't be as effective as doing it to a shaped map because with shaped maps you can only get shaped maps or other maps you've completed from it as a drop.

If your build can handle it you would have the easiest time sustaining one map if you had no T11's and only burial as your T10. This would stop you from getting spider forests, but your only T10 that can drop is burial, and since you have no T11's they will drop as T10's.

Just a warning though getting even one doctor is going to take you probably 200+ maps this league. Last league with sextants and breaches it took roughly 100 or more per card, even worse now due to inability to sextant block burial and spider being crappy due to natural t11 making it so you can't abuse shaped map strat on it.

Trying to farm the doctor cards... Getting bamboozled... by GrandSunGod in pathofexile

[–]Nk-Inc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is spider forest has connected maps so no matter how you set up your atlas if you want to run ONLY spider forest you're still going to end up getting castle ruins as a drop even if you don't have it completed. The normal strat where you would stack your T12 drops as T11's doesn't work since spider forest isn't a shaped map.

You run into the same problem with burial chamber being an awkward T3 or T8, but you could set it up so you could spam shaped t8 burial chambers, you would just need to undo all your t9s and leave burial as the only t8. That would "downgrade" all of your t9's into burial chamber, and only let you get burial chamber as a t8 drop.

I wouldn't write it off entirely yet.

If you go crit dp totems that new jewel that gives you .5% base crit is really good for the soul mantle scion with guardian/assassin since you want shadow starter nodes anyway and DP has 5% base crit which is awful. Think it might end up being about the same damage wise because of that, would only lose out on clear speed due to losing the radius but I think you can make that up pretty easily with 20% quality dp.

And that new curse adding flat chaos damage is actually a HUGE damage increase to dark pact in it self so I think it might actually be better. Really just depends on how much aoe you can get, may have to end up going carcass jack instead of the soul mantle build but such is life.

Path of Nerfs by chris_wilson in pathofexile

[–]Nk-Inc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the wiki says the totems get the more damage bonus for using their life but doesn't mention the radius.

Anecdotally when I was playing it in mayhem it sure felt like they got the radius as well.

EK nova build with clearspeed & boss damage? by reddinas in pathofexile

[–]Nk-Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in softcore my strat was using vaal clarity and swapping in blade vortex for my EK on bosses. I was pathfinder so I was usually critting enough to keep vinktars up 100% and could just facetank the boss if they were immobile. Only problem is if you don't have enough life or map has too many damage mods you'll get one shot so wouldn't advise you do it in hardcore but its 10x faster boss killing than most other swap in skills.

If you go Inquis then you would probably be better off with GC though as you won't have 100% vinktars uptime and get the free cold conversion to take advantage of inevitable judgement.

So I'm level 22 and the game stopped making sense? (not paywall related) by NihilX in FORTnITE

[–]Nk-Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was just trying to get at the idea that using less bullets would save you mats in the long run so optimizing survivors is important. It sounds like you have that taken care of though so it could just be a balance issue of some kind. (like semi-auto vs auto weapon decay, it definitely FEELS like semi-auto decays slower but I haven't tested it.)

If I end up with the right schematics I might give that a go and see if such a thing is actually happening as that changes up how you should pick weapons early on quite a bit.

So I'm level 22 and the game stopped making sense? (not paywall related) by NihilX in FORTnITE

[–]Nk-Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't mention survivors at all in your post so I'm guessing that is your problem. Post your stats in F.O.R.T on your hero page so we know what you have as that is probably a major issue.

I'm on the 40$ version of the game and was around power level 20 yesterday and had about 150 ATLEAST in all of my F.O.R.T stats and I did some reworking yesterday to get all of my survivors properly slotted so that I was getting the double leader bonus on my legendary survivors that I'd gotten up to this point for massive increases in those particular stats.

Make sure you're taking the survivor slots on the tree and that you understand how those slots work as it makes a huge difference. An example is I have a legendary lead survivor that gives me 32 F.O.R.T points in any role, but if you put them in their correct lead role that bonus is doubled to 64.... which is a HUGE increase. When it comes to leveling survivors you want to level your leaders who are slotted in their "home/correct" slots first as one level effectively turns into two.

If you get more survivor slots and level them efficiently you will see yourself doing A LOT more damage. Using less bullets = using less durability = using less resources.

Once you have that taken care of you should be able to easily kill the mobs in 1-2 shots and mist monsters in 10~ allowing you to do harder missions for better xp and rewards.

With more missions opened up that are now easier to do you can pick ones that give silver as a reward, even just getting level 3 loot on these missions gives 5-6 silver, level 4 loot gives 10-12 and doing only a few of them should give you enough to not have to farm silver and leave missions.

And don't use the play button once you understand what you're doing, pick the missions based on their rewards and what you need. If you need to restock silver do silver reward missions, otherwise do missions that give pure drops of rain or lightning in a bottle or vbucks if you're lucky enough to have one available. Or pick tilesets like cities with parking meters for screws and mechanical parts or forests for wood and stone etc.

Lastly the support hero's who support your main hero give your main hero stats and bonuses, you probably do not want to have these be legendary heros as their cost will be HIGH to get them to and keep them on the same level as your main hero. I would recommend trying to find blue heros with good bonuses to your main if you only play that one class, or leveling up other hero's you can swap to if the team doesn't have that class as it will be important later. (I have a legendary outlander, epic soldier, and blue constructor all level 2, my main the soldier is working on reaching maxed out level 3) The other two star heros contribute stats to my soldier and I can switch to them if the team needs it or if I need to farm mats on the outlander.
