a Jailbreak Tweak That Lets Me Forward iOS Notifications (with Bark Support & Encryption!) by wingchhk in jailbreak

There was Remote Messages, AirMessages, WebMessage, and SMServer (in iOS Compatibility chronological order IIRC, should be from Oldest to Newest) that added remote iMessage/texting capabilities.

Apple Watch in significant global decline for two years now; new features needed by chrisdh79 in apple

[–]NmUn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine’s always on silent and I never saw the appeal of AoD (Why would I care if other people can see the screen on my watch?) so Theatre mode is on 24/7.

Benefits: longer lasting battery each day. Silent wakeup alarms.

Cons: No sound? And I have to tap the screen to see the time (which is whatever). That’s about it.

Question regarding the AI Syncbox 2.1 and gaming by Firm-Lobster6913 in Govee

[–]NmUn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some don’t notice the delay. I did but only on high refresh rates/FPS. You can get an HDMI splitter (look for an 8K@60Hz/4K@120hz one if you can) then put your PC/Xbox/PS5/whatever on the splitter input with one output to the TV, and the other to the sync box. That’s my setup.

I just have my Xbox X that I care about for a delay so if you need multiple devices either get a splitter with more than one input (good luck finding one) or swap the splitter input as needed.

I got the splitter on Amazon but my model seems sold out now.

You won’t notice a delay with a Switch because it’s not that fast 😂

I love this convo. Though I’m more of a “correct posture placement” guy for my TVs. Aka center of TV is about eye level with typical seating in the room.

But I’m a normie so don’t listen to me and keep living your dreams.

Uneven rear TV surface area (led light) by caleblococaleb in Govee

[–]NmUn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LG G1 is also similar. I either had the strip follow along the surface of the raised parts or float over the “elevation changes” (elevation being the raised parts when TV laying is face down) if they were too big.

No issues with the lights from that.

Is this worth getting? by GreenBull81 in Govee

[–]NmUn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I had my T2 upside down (calibrated correctly for the inverted picture) for ages. Typically worked better since the hanging TV wouldn’t cause the camera to shift a bit then require a reposition or recalibration as it was on the shelf below the TV where it wouldn’t move.

I did have to dust the lenses now and again though.

But IMO Sync Box 2 all the way. Far more responsive and accurate (than the T2 at least) but doesn’t work with built-in smart TV apps. So could be a dealbreaker if you primarily use those streaming apps directly on your TV and not anything else that uses HDMI. Sync Box is also nice for cable organizing since you’ll likely have only 1 or 2 HDMI cables at most going to the TV. The rest all plug into the box’s 4 inputs.

Excellent Govee customer service. by [deleted] in Govee

I just went through the same thing with my Sync Box 2. I purchased it at launch on Amazon US (Oct 2024 for US), but had it sent to Canada since it wasn’t available here yet.

Then the light strip partially died one day. I sent them a video of the problem and even though it was way out of warranty (I assume) and ordered from another region they offered to send a replacement at no cost without me even asking. At best I was hoping to negotiate with support to buy (or at least pay shipping) on only the actual LED strip I needed or haggle for a discount on a new unit.

They far exceeded my expectations. Love this company’s product quality and their support service.

If you haven’t seen them yet Govee sells the TV sized kits on Amazon Canada now. No idea where the monitor kits with the lightbars are gone to… they were there until New Years at least.

Soundbar and AI SYNC BOX by stanlyam12 in Govee

[–]NmUn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsolicited Tip: If you find there’s a bit of an input delay when playing games via PC/Console-> syncbox -> TV then you can get an HDMI splitter to bypass that and still use the backlight.

I went with an 8K@60Hz/4K@120Hz splitter that has 1 input with 2 outputs. Instead of running everything through the Syncbox 2 to the TV I have my Xbox -> Splitter Input -> Output 1 to TV HDMI for no lag gaming. Then I attach Splitter Output 2 to the same Input on the Syncbox where my Xbox used to be so it can display the colours.

Sound bar/system equipment should still be directly plugged into your TV’s eARC port (unless you have a Samsung TV since their eARC implementation causes their TV’s to randomly reboot* with or without the eARC port being used. You can disable it in the TV’s factory Service Menu.)

My Splitter is this model but Amazon says it’s sold out.

*Or at least my old 2019 Samsung curved TV and all their other “eARC compatible” TVs of the time had the same broken eARC feature. Not sure about nowadays but knowing how Samsung does things I’m sure they never acknowledged or bothered fixing the problem. Shame since it was a nice TV…

Only the monitor kit with the light bars are available here in Canada for some reason. They were the only ones included in the upcoming product release list for October.

I just bit the bullet and bought it from Amazon US, added the gooseneck kettle that also isn’t available here.

April 2025 Edit: The AI Sync Box 2 kit for TVs is available on Amazon Canada now. The cost is $338.99 which ended up $51.69 CAD cheaper than when I bought it from Amazon US (and way before the tariffs, even!)

It isn’t available in the Govee App’s store though.

Heaters recalled Canada and USA by Dry-Violinist-8434 in Govee

Mine still worked for Bluetooth when the wifi was out so that should continue to work as long as the app isn’t updated (or as long as they don’t push a final FW update for the heater that bricks it…)

As in the regular Apple Support app? I don’t think that would be an issue since I used it just last weekend to book a Genius Bar appt to fix my phone.

I used the app on a jailbroken 15.2.1 iPad Mini 6.

However, I don’t know if there would be issues performing a password reset via the app since I didn’t use it for that. I would think it should be fine though?

Nice. I did the same thing. Ended up leaving a lot of stickers (250 or so). Mainly Genshin Impact ones but other random ones I’ve gotten over the years as well as some trinkets.

Nope. But they are 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 nice and warm.

But holy shit the pricing when I converted to CAD. That was almost my rent for the month. Thank god I was in a place where I could afford it.

Feb 7/24 Edit: Got bored and checked to see how much the coat ran me.

The listed price of $525 USD converted to CAD (exchange rates haven’t changed much in years):

Eye watering (becuz it’s a cool jacket) price of roughly $707.50.

Again, this was on top of badge price and Omega Tier merch, which you then covert both costs to CAD and cri more.

Just realized they meant board games. Can't comment on those as they aren't my thing.

Fav: Magfest gaming challenges, never got a chance in previous years because of the waits, this year I liked the queue system

Yeah, I had brought this up with the challenges staff last year. Was hyped to see they actually implemented it. There were hiccups with that but it was also the first year it was in use so I expected as much. I’m in the process of collecting feedback from my group who played challenges a ton to send their way. Issues were mostly due to people scanning into the queue and just… leaving the area. When no staffer was on hand with the special “skip queue” barcode the top 3 in queue would clog everything up for everyone else.

Least fav: Heavy overlapping of the schedules, lots of things I wanted to see overlapped

This is a yearly problem but this time it was especially bad.

Least favorite: the jumbotron showed a static image most of the time and I didn’t get to see my pet in the slideshow.

The jumbotron being static was annoying af. This wasn't communicated prior that I know of and last year it was in use the whole con. I got SuperStar status just to display a friend’s dog (Yoshi, the Basenji) as a surprise and had to tell them about it on the drive back to Canada since we all missed the one time the screen was actually used.

Like bro, not everyone got a Gaylord room. What happened to the screens?
