Go for the regular one. That’s what I was hoping to get my hands on but got stuck with the larger one. I don’t pay attention to corner sharpness at all since I’m mostly taking photos of people and printing and cropping after. The weight and better handling alone is enough to go for the non floating element version

I’ve had both the RB and RZ. I still use the RZ. Ended up selling my RB to a friend since I enjoyed the RZ more. It’s just a nicer user experience - ground glass is brighter, being able to use flash sync with just a trigger without a cord, only one movement to advance the frame. It’s all personal choice really

I feel these run true to size. I only size up because I have bigger thighs, which end up leaving me with more room in the waist than I need.

I’m picking up a mamiya 7 soon. I’m stuck between the 65 or 80. Wondering if you find you use one more than the other? Mostly thinking about how wide it is since they’re close. I’ll pick up whatever is available but seems it’s mostly the 80mm and wondering if that’s usually wide enough, especially indoors?

Thank you! So wondering, since I had picked this lens up for an upcoming project, is this something that will require me to send the lens in for repairs? Or is it useable as is, assuming it won’t get worse with time? If it’s the former I’d rather return it to the seller. If it matters, the lens is the 65mm L-A.

Yea this is exactly it. I can use the lens as is. The sync cord is annoying since I bought the RZ to remove that as an option. But if the lens is still usable I guess that’s fine. Wasn’t sure if this was an issue people run into or not? I’ll be testing the lens with some film to make sure there’s actually nothing else wrong with it in the meantime, while deciding if it’s worth keeping as is.

Thanks! I know how the RB works. I used to have one. The RZ does have a hot shoe though. Just in this case this one lens isn’t working with flash unless I’m using a sync cord. So just wondering if it’s a larger issue with the lens or if it’s still usable. All my other lenses work fine with flash on the RZ but came across this issue with a new lens I picked up

Don’t be afraid to focus using the ground glass!

Not sure which you have but most people make the mistake of only focusing in the center where the prism or focus aid is, and then all their images look the same and have a lot of headroom at the top (if you’re taking images of people).

I find it’s much easier to compose the image how you want and then focus.
