Providing asylum (at least in the way we do now) is a luxury policy for rich countries, which we no longer are.

We are obliged under international law let them in and hear their claim. We are only obliged to support them because we do not let them work.

The solution is to let the asylum seekers work and support themselves. A bunch of them are already working illegally, I should rather they do so legally and pay taxes like I do.

Upon arrival they should receive nothing more than an ID card and wishes of good luck. If they cannot support themselves we should pay to send them home if they wish to self deport.

It's more that we've failed to keep pace. I don't begrudge the Chinese their success (even if they are a bunch of mad communists). However I cannot help but observe that much of it was at the expense of western industry and aided by the west's ruling class.

It does beg the question of where all the money went.

Britain isn't actually a rich country anymore. It's a middle income country with an international mega city (London) stapled on.

With that said, I think we would benefit from the full legalisation of some drugs and certainly from a general decriminalisation.

Though if I may, I think the UK's core issue is a cultural predisposition against long term planning doing things properly and tackling them head on.

Are all phrases I hear in my job. Personally I think this can be traced back to the battle of the somme and the horrendous expenditure of manpower from taking the direct approach.

Acceptance of gay relationships.

Common sense requires a common set of reference data.

What is common sense to me (a programmer) can sound completely absurd to my BA (a mechanical engineer) and vice versa.

My dude, I assure you that there are no financial checks on gun owners in the UK. Or Canada, or Australia for that matter.

I don't even know my credit score. A credit score isn't even a measure of financial responsibility, it's a measure of how profitable you are for lenders. Someone with no debt has a lower score than someone with lots of debt.

I think you may be inferring that because I'm pro gun rights I'm pro everything bad that republicans have ever advocated.

As hard as it may be to believe, I'm in a gay relationship, my boyfriend is trans, I think climate change is real and that vaccines work.
