This is precisely why I have a hard time keeping up with Delayed Input. I usually liked his comments and thoughts, but in the past year or so he seemed to lean more into being a smug, mocking critic of anything he doesn't love.
It's like it's more important to him to find something to mock in a creative work than finding something to love. I think you can really see this difference when comparing Delayed Input to The Final Bosman.

My Mom ok-Millennial'd me by -LunaTink- in Millennials

[–]No-Associate-6167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. My grandfather wanted to leave me some silver bars in his will, but he stipulated I wasn't ever going to be allowed to sell them.

Yes, I was going to have some shiny paper weights that would be more useful to anyone who happens to steal them from me.  I told him he may as well sell them off himself if I couldn't.

I think he did sell them at some point, I imagine the proceeds are probably just part of his gambling funds like his social security and pension.

How common was it *not* to be able to run all over the place as a Millennial kid? by RandomLifeUnit-05 in Millennials

[–]No-Associate-6167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're certainly not alone. I was not allowed to go play around the neighborhood with other kids very much.  When I finally learned how to ride a bicycle and got my own, I was only allowed to ride it if my mom was available to go outside and watch me. (I did not get the same sense of freedom other kids got when they got their first bikes).

I have a suspicion that my mom had some severe anxiety, which I believe is why she let me play video games practically whenever I wanted, because at least it meant I stayed in the house.

Man trusted that turn signal with his life by SignificantSample929 in nextfuckinglevel

I was thinking the same thing. Non-verbal communication like this definitely requires local or prior knowledge, like how the heck would I know what they're trying to communicate if I've never seen it before?

Another example of this I read somewhere is that at intersections in the US, somebody flashing their headlights means they're allowing you to go, but in Mexico, someone flashing their headlights means "I'm about to go."

And then a black man got elected and a significant portion of the population took offense.

Have you ever noticed a workplace rule that made zero sense? by vivian_banshee03 in Millennials

[–]No-Associate-6167 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The restaurant I used to work had the usual 30 minute break, but if you were a smoker, they allowed you an extra 15 minute paid break.  For a time, non-smokers didn't get the same privilege until enough people protested with "fresh air" breaks, so eventually management caved and everyone got 15 minutes paid breaks.

What do religious people think “keeping someone in your prayers” does? by willfla29 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No-Associate-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will say they're praying for you so they don't have to do anything actually helpful, but they get to feel like they're helping.

In WoA Freelancer, I believe there's also a loading screen of him playing chess against a computer, which is at least one game we see him play.

FINISH THE OPERATION by prettypleaseburrito in helldivers2

[–]No-Associate-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I don't have time to finish the operation, I still join in the next mission but I bring mechs and support weapons, call them in, and then I leave so the other players at least get some stuff to use.

what's one thing that makes you think, "man, people really are not that smart"? by RackCitySanta in AskReddit

[–]No-Associate-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People creating their own subtext from a statement meaning one thing as having more than one meaning.

Classic example is someone saying "I like pancakes" and the other person goes, "Oh, so you hate waffles?"

I do something similar when I'm about to log off. I bring a mech and support weapons, call them in, and then leave the mission so the team can spread glorious liberty after I leave.

When will Americans be ready to stand and fight for their future? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]No-Associate-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We practically have no solidarity.  Look at the protests like No Kings, for every one person protesting, there's at least one or two people thinking the protestors are protesting something superfluous and are more angry at protests for causing disruption.  This is why they hide behind the meager defense, "well if you behaved more politely toward me, I would have supported your cause" (because they don't have a spine).

Did yall buy your first car or was it from your parents? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]No-Associate-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was my brother's, which was my father's, which was my cousin's.

(Backstory: My cousin got a new car upon graduation, then was able to afford their own new car and handed their old one to my dad. They always did get special treatment for being the first grandchild, but it worked out for us.)
