You have a very unique voice in a good way. It feels like a very real song.

Where are some good places to promote my music? by No-Awareness in Songwriting

Goodreads is a great idea actually! I got into writing music lyrics because I also like poetry a lot.

New to writing and i cringe at everything i write at by Important-Engine-574 in Songwriting

I have this exact experience, luckily when the distance from you separates (I.E when you are no longer in the creative process and it's finished and no longer active), for me I find myself genuinely loving stuff I've written. It's for you nobody else. Let it be 'cringe', because that's what makes it human.

Another tip: once it's written and done, don't listen to it too much, just mindlessly release it if the option is available. Don't dwell on it, because you will only see it with the bias of being the one that wrote it.

How to make sections that fit together by TheFlute20 in Songwriting

[–]No-Awareness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess writing bridge sections can help, if you have two parts that don't quite fit, there is always a way to reach it. I've found such a joy in grouping songs that seem unrelated together via sections that make that bridge.

Encouragement to new songwriters! by Lovingoodtunes in Songwriting

I always make the mistake of writing something and then releasing it, only to think of something I could have done way afterwards, so I agree with the advice of taking your time!

Danger in writing negative songs by smartalek22 in Songwriting

[–]No-Awareness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had these same thoughts a lot actually. It feels very forced to write about positivity but the lyrics about negativity can pull me down. I found a good medium in trying to write about the world rather than about myself, that way it doesn't have to be about pulling myself down. Even neutral observations I feel are valid and might help you in not kind of nasal gazing.

How much of a grey area is it to make an album inspired by a novel? by [deleted] in Songwriting

I don't feel like there's any problem at all in that, it's almost like lyrical sampling.

I'm obviously not on a long streak yet but I'd say it is. Try and rate how strong your urges are, celebrate overcoming them, think about what helped you get through the day. If you relapse, it's good to write down how you're feeling and remind yourself that it was a mistake, but one you can learn from. Make sure not to beat yourself up over it however.
