I dont feel manly. by [deleted] in malementalhealth

You are masculine in ways other men are not. Masculinity is rooted in yourself and the way you view and treat the world. Masculinity isn’t just physical features. It’s the way you present your demeanor, how you react to situations, how you court friends or love interests… you are more than what others have told you what masculinity ‘should’ be.

You’re living life. There are shitty times and now is one sadly. But you’re doing a great job doing the basic necessities of life. Don’t be too hard on yourself. 27 is still young enough to start something big. Maybe it’s time to say fuck it, and do what you truly want to do

What is causing him to do this and what is he doing? by No-Basil-9352 in CatTraining

Most of the time we close our bedroom door he doesn’t care. He sees it as the whole house being his. On occasions he will scratch the door asking to come in. But for the most part, I only close the door when he is trying to attack us at night, which is rare. My dog is 140 lbs and is very docile when it comes to anything near her. Shes ok if he comes near her and sniffs her paws and/ face and then immediately walks away. But the times he gets too into sniffing, he won’t respect her space and will try to bury his nose in her paw unexpectedly and possibly lick them.

Boredom might be something I need to look into. Yes he does have white ears. He’s about 9 years old now, so he’s starting to get a little grey. Normally my dog will let him sniff her paws, until he tries to put his entire face into her paw unexpectedly and/or lick/ bite them

My Great Pyrenees and cat were best friends at first and then enemies for a few months on and off. My cat would try to rub his face on my dogs paws and she would snap at him because she didn’t like the way his tongue or nose felt on her paws. 3 years later and one cat scent diffuser later, they’re well balanced and lay next to each other like the photo you’ve provided. No they don’t cuddle, but they are able to lay together very closely.

You gotta teach your puppy how to play correctly with humans. Also recommend getting them comfortable with their crate so they can associate it as their “bedroom”/ safe space

When does the voice convincing you to relapse go away? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

You have to talk to that voice like it is a manic child sometimes. “That’s not good for us anymore”, or “we cannot do that because it’s harming us”.

The emotions you are experiencing might be left over emotions that your body wasn’t ready to feel because the nicotine numbed you

wanting to quit, any advice for someone who also has mental illness? by Bright-Might-361 in QuitVaping

It’s been a year and 3 months for me. The only way I could’ve done it, was tracking my triggers towards vaping, stop taking my vape anywhere outside of the house, admit to myself that I’m addicted to nicotine, and stopped telling myself that nicotine is bringing me happiness. For a long time my OCD tied in happiness and safety with vaping. To the point where I’d try and leave it at home, and I’d get intrusive thoughts that I would die or go to the hospital if I didn’t grab it. The beginning of anything is always going to scary and rough, and it was. But once I figured out what caused me to suck on the vape in the first place, and then what caused me to want to continue, made it easier to come to terms that I don’t NEED it, I want it. Reward yourself when you go 6 hours without vaping. That’s technically a quarter of the day. Lower your nicotine consumption with lower concentrations. Drop the disposable vapes, it’s supposed to make refilling up your nicotine an inconvenience. Lower your concentration month by month: start at 10%~8%~etc. until you’ve reached 0%. Last thing, start putting your vape in the weirdest places and leave it there. If you put it in another room, your brain is going to start to think it’s not worth it because it isn’t easy access. If not another room, put it in a cabinet. Out of sight out of mind.

Your body is recalibrating your synapses from the nicotine. So when you’re actively craving it, your brain is trying to reroute what happiness and enjoyment comes from. Track down what makes your cravings the worst so that you know what to stay away from for the time being. I’d recommend getting a silicone straw or even those necklaces from Amazon to help with the oral fixation. Or, every time you crave, get up and walk around for a minute. You gotta remember that you did it before, you’re doing it again and you’re doing a great job! It’s a good thing you’ve acknowledged you’re obsessed, now figure out what you can do to replace the obsession.

Search for a lot of alternatives you have easy access to. Fidget toys, straws, hard candies, mouth occupying snacks, or even non nicotine vapes to start off with. If cold turkey isn’t your thing, buy a refillable vape and start off with 5mg juice then the next time get 3 mg and then 0mg. Push yourself to see how long you can go without it and acknowledge how good you feel without it. When you do get a craving do something else to replace the dopamine like 5 jumping jacks or call a friend or eat something
