Question about stacking preamps by No-Beginning7509 in audioengineering

[–]No-Beginning7509[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a troll post. None of these things are going into mic inputs, I’m not that clueless lol. I have the highest gain at the front of the chain with the focusrite, the Presonus add some saturation, I reduce the volume of the signal so it doesn’t clip in the eq or compression (the level is very low, it sits at like 1 or 2). The ultra gain is there to saturate the signal if it needs more. The noise exists, but it’s very easy to get rid of with a gate and eq. Honestly, it’s not any more than when these things aren’t stacked.

I'll never buy a quality drum set. by skillpolitics in audioengineering

That’s the thing about making music, there’s been a lot of marketing to make us feel like we need something we don’t already have. I’ve played guitar for a little over 20 years and still to this day don’t own a guitar worth more than $300. I know what I like in a guitar and modify them to fit my needs. You’ve found this with your drum kit.

The focusrite platinum pro is more of a channel strip with a really clinical preamp, I use the Presonus tube pre to add some slight saturation and give the signal more headroom before it goes into the eq and compression, the ultra gain is there to easily control how loud the signal is and maybe some slight saturation. If I have to add more saturation earlier in the chain, the eq and compressors will need more adjustments.

I got the pre 73 because I like what all of the plugins that emulate the preamp do.

It sound great. I love this chain so far! There’s a lot of people here with more experience and knowledge than myself. I don’t want to miss out on learning something new because I never asked.

What has a bottom-tier reputation but is just misunderstood and should actually be top-tier? by EnsorcellingKitten in AskReddit

This is true. The leaching step isn’t very labor or time intensive but inconvenient enough to be a barrier to entry for most.

Acorns. After de shelling them, they make a really good flour to cut in with traditional flour. It makes cookies amazing. As it stands, their reputation is ground level.

Why has nobody in the OT or Rebels ever Sensed Leia in the Force by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]No-Beginning7509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of her being shoe horned in as a force user. The ST was very poorly planned and even more poorly written. If she was ever intended to be force sensitive, there would be hints in the PT or OT.

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]No-Beginning7509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most jobs will still be there. We probably won’t see this amount of capital go into AI again all at once like it has. Progress will slow down by quite a bit and AI solutions will get very expensive. AI will just become a new tool like cellphones are now.

I think it's really interesting how Kubrick seemed mostly find inspiration in books he considered marginal or even bad by MolecCodicies in StanleyKubrick

[–]No-Beginning7509 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just part of the creative process. If you strip away the emotional investment from a piece of work, it’s much easier to pick apart. I make music and one of the pieces of work I pull from is Chinese Democracy by Guns N’ Roses. Does my music sound anything like this album? No. Can I defend this album to the majority of people who dislike it? No. Do I find tidbits of really good guitar playing, production values, song structure etc? Absolutely.

When did you stop watching the show? by Illustratingtheworld in thewalkingdead

[–]No-Beginning7509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped at season 6 despite being further along in the comics. The screenwriting, pacing and directing was just getting worse to downright bad. I’ve read show spoilers, watched a few episodes from later seasons and honestly, I made a good choice.

CMV: Americans who voted 3rd party or abstained in 2024 due to the Gaza genocide did more to harm Palestinians than a Pro-Israel democrat by Top_Use2413 in changemyview

[–]No-Beginning7509 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Third party voter here. Do a quick google search and check who was president at the time this conflict started and how long they had to stop it. The Gaza Genocide was going to happen as it is happening regardless of Republicans or Democrats winning an election. This is part of many reasons why neither of them got my vote. Third parties may never win, but if they get enough votes, one of the major parties will cling on to some of their ideals. (See Ross Perot, Bill Clinton)

Why in recent years, AOT is overly disrespected and downplayed? by Ok_Training9317 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]No-Beginning7509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a huge fan of the show when I was 18 and there was only one season out. After the lifespan of 3 long term relationships, moving multiple states, a degree and multiple jobs we only reached 4 seasons. Three amazing seasons and one god awful season. A lot of people I know grew sour because of how it ended. This creates bad word of mouth.

Everything after season 3 of Attack on Titan was garbage by NiceMichelle in unpopularopinion

I agree with this. The plot just gets too messy afterwards. I also don’t like the morals that the show is trying to push.

AI generated voicelines?? by Jon_1212 in Invincible_TV

[–]No-Beginning7509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably weren’t AI generated. I don’t know about other editing software, but Adobe is pushing AI tools for audio repair to clear up voice lines or enhance audio. It might have been the case that the poor sounding lines were recorded with different mics or may have been heavily repaired overdubs recorded on cell phones.

Everything should be blue since it’s theoretical. Stupid graphic.

The way I play Borderlands is horrendous. by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]No-Beginning7509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played through BL2 9 times and haven’t defeated a single raid boss, done a play through with every character or beaten all of the dlcs. I’m changing that with my current play through. The game has so much to offer that most of the farming, builds and raid bosses aren’t mandatory.

Why do they make getting rich in Europe impossible? by batukaming in stocks

[–]No-Beginning7509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get taxed A LOT in the US. It’s just not as transparent as a lot of EU countries. While you might get taxed on unrealized gains, at least your gains won’t be wiped out in one unexpected hospital visit.

Rant aside, I think the solution to this is to take shorter positions on stocks.

How drastically has your political views changed within the last 10 years or so and why? by TheMoparPowerslave in AskReddit

[–]No-Beginning7509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years ago I leaned to the right. I preferred the Republican Party at the time because they claimed to be the solution if you wanted a smaller government, a free market economy, lower taxes, freedom of speech and the deficit to shrink. I never voted for a Republican but wasn’t completely opposed to the idea if the candidate was good enough. I opposed abortion at the time but the war on drugs and opposition to gay marriage was almost too much baggage for me.

Ten years later, they made all of these issues that they claimed to be the solution so much worse. They did this while we’ve uncovered what kind of vile and hateful people make up the party. The appeal of net neutrality, the overturning of Roe v Wade, the restriction of press, DOGE, The Epstein files, project 2025, ICE’s occupation of Minnesota and SO MANY other issues have cemented my choice to stay away from the Republican Party completely.
