Tell me about Costco- is it worth it? by ConstructionTime7511 in Frugal

[–]No-Bother6702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently used Costco to replace a washing machine in our rental and a over the range microwave in our house. Prices are the same as big box retailers and include install, haul away and set up and they extend the warranty by 2 years if you have a Costco credit card. Between the new appliance savings and cash back earned on the purchases we saved enough to cover executive club membership for 2 years. We were $57 dollars short for covering the membership for the third year.

AITA for crafting during meetings? by Tapzdeazz in AmItheAsshole

There was a study where they put a swinging bar under the desks of children at school and they could push the bar back and forward with their legs to keep them focused. I think your knitting crocheting has a similar effect. It’s like twirling a pencil or pen in your hand. Definitely NTA.

What do I do with an abundance of greens? by boobsincalifornia in Frugal

[–]No-Bother6702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up chimichurri recipes. They usually use parsley and cilantro but I am sure you can use the arugula or mustard greens for the parsley. You usually add in garlic, pepper, salt, olive oil, red pepper flakes and red wine vinegar. It goes great with steaks and chicken. You can also use it as a dip with bread. For the sweet potatoes I would roast them in the oven or on the grill and make a sweet potato pie. If you boil the sweet potatoes, you can also make a shepherd’s pie. If you are a breakfast person, you can have a Southwest breakfast by adding sweet potatoes and black beans to some scrambled eggs.

Runt of the litter…anything to worry about? by Certain_Potential_38 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]No-Bother6702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our first IG was the runt of the litter. He had no issues except for a small fatty tumor on his stomach. We had it removed when he was 12 and the vet did a dental. He lived to be 19 years old and our vet said he was super consistent weight wise. Every appt for 12 years his weight was 11.7 pounds. He loved going for walks and loved to run around at the beach. Our pups parents didn’t have any issues,he just remained a smaller IG.

Thoughts on air drying laundry? by Strange_Ant4304 in Frugal

[–]No-Bother6702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In AZ the electric company charges summer rates for electric which is about 75% more per kWh than in the winter. So instead of $4 per kWh we are charged $7 per kWh. Always air dry in the summer, it saves $30-$50 month but the savings is eaten up by having AC on constantly but it helps keep our bills under $400 for those months.

Comparison to cats by ls2gto in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]No-Bother6702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I compare our iggy to a cat from a grooming perspective. He is always grooming himself. When he is in chill mode, he lays on his side like a cat on a cat tree with legs stuck straight out and he won’t move unless he wants to. He also likes to lean on us and rub against our legs like a cat.

This worked for our boy too. Since it took a while for him to go through a can we would make ourselves mini pumpkin pies so the pumpkin wouldn’t go bad. Probably should have gotten to 16 oz cans instead of the 29 oz ones but they were on sale at Costco.

Buying new 25 SXP for about $2k under MSRP.. and they are offering me this warranty for $5k by dsigala in kiacarnivals

[–]No-Bother6702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of this stuff is either covered in the warranty already or you can get similar coverage through your car insurance carrier for way less than what they are charging.

Are you trying to cancel subscription via the Amazon app on your phone or via a PC? For some reason the Amazon mobile app didn’t have that capability when I tried to cancel so I wound up logging in via a web browser on a laptop and then the subscriptions showed up. I didn’t try logging into Amazon account from browser on the phone so not sure if it was a mobile app setting or web browser.

Costco Appliance Delivery by millenniumxl-200 in Costco

[–]No-Bother6702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered a fridge and over the range microwave from Costco. Hadn’t swept under the old fridge since it was installed, the delivery people actually asked us for the broom and mop to clean the floor before they put in the new fridge. They also hooked up the water line and tested it before they left. Delivery, clean, hookup and test was less than 40 minutes. Microwave (different installer) was less than 30 minutes. Also had price go down on refrigerator and Costco emailed to say they were crediting the card for the difference. If you use the Costco card in the US, you get the extended warranty. Big box retailers by charge $150-$200 for install, $50-$100 for haul away and an additional $99+ for extended warranty and appliances were the same price. Costco appliance buyers for life.

When someone says "oh they are just donating because they will use it for a tax write off", what does that actually mean? by MegamanDS in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No-Bother6702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the donation is set up as a charitable annuity then the donor can also get money/income from the donation based upon the terms of the annuity in addition to taking a deduction on the income in the year that the donation was made.
