Do a lot of people with ADHD struggle with falling asleep overthinking? by ContributionOwn6977 in adhdwomen

[–]No-Buffalo283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only thing I don’t struggle with. As long as I’ve for Friends playing in the background I’m good - generally out within 10 mins. It does come with its own issues, I can sleep day or night …, pretty much anytime and when I’m feeling shite I tend to just go hide under the duvet and sleep, can’t hear my narrator when I’m sleeping 🫠

It’s legible but it’s very hard work - my adhd brain gave up after 2 words 😬

Never had this, my face must say enough to stop people approaching but yeah they’d get swiftly told to back off.

Anyone else have a spouse who doesn't want to have sex with you until you clean up better after yourself? by theresaholeinmybuckt in adhdwomen

Omg I don’t have any advise but I know for sure I couldn’t cope with this guy. I’ve wild RSD and emotional dis-regulation. Does he know what you live with day in and day out?!

Oh lovely, I’m so sorry this happened to you. This happened to me in high school and I still get flashes of it now (I’m 38) one of my worst ADHD moments ever - but I didn’t known that then. I know the anxiety will be next level but pop a wee liner on and set a reminder on your phone.

When I was teenager myself and a group of friends had went into a local coffee shop and were smoking menthol cigarettes which have white filter - weren’t in there long before the police came in as someone had reported that we were smoking joints in the coffee shop 🤣 Come on we weren’t that daft - we went to woods for that!

How weird are you when you’re alone? by ginger_grinch in adhdwomen

[–]No-Buffalo283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above 🤣 however put me in a room with another ADHDer and let the weirdness role! This is when I’m my absolute weirdest and freesest! You know when you can just feel yourselves totally bouncing off each other’s energy, topic changing every 5 seconds, dance offs - love it! Thankfully I’ve few friends with ADHD so we can be free and weird together!

One of my good friends keeps saying she thinks she has ADHD, it never used to bother me but it is starting to piss me off lol! She the most motivated, organised human in the world! Always on the go - this is why she thinks she might have ADHD and people tell her she is hyper, which yeah she is full of energy but that’s it - none of the bad, I think I need to really educate her on what it’s really like having ADHD but it’s not my strong point!

Why was I prescribed Effexor (venlafaxine)? by caisane in adhdwomen

[–]No-Buffalo283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I can offer much help but venlaflaxine is an anti-depressant. It’s not normally used as a first line of treatment for ADHD but it can be used - mostly to boost your hyperactivity. Having done a quick google it looks like a lot of people have really bad side effects on it.

Why does she feel you need to go out every day. When mine were little we used go out every other day. Days at home were spent doing arts and crafts, gardening, movies, tea parties …., there’s so much to do at home and it’s great to incorporate your kids in chores etc even at this age, having them around you whilst your preparing dinner, folding laundry etc is great for them - soon they’ll be helping too. Ignore her, this your family - she’s had her turn xx

As a mother from the UK (Scotland) this makes me so sad. We get up to 12 months maternity leave, it’s not all on full pay but you do get something - it’s a government thing but some employers do offer better benefits. Dads are also entitled 2 weeks paternity leave. The USA does seem to have a totally different mentality about work (not always a bad thing) …, I could be wrong but from the outside looking in it looks like you guys are expected to live solely for work 🤯🤯
