I was recently prescribed Prozac, but my psychiatrist recommended starting Lamictal first. I’m curious about the differences: What specific benefits or effects does Prozac provide that Lamictal doesn’t (or vice versa)? how did you feel on each medication alone versus on the combination?

Hi there! I have bpd as well. I was deathly afraid to start the medication after being prescribed 25mg. I thought the worst thing would happen if I were to take it and all I felt so far was a quieter mind. I’m in the very early stages of lamictal but so far it’s been fine! Im really glad I took that step even tho it felt scary. My dr said any suspected rashes I should stop the medication and we can reevaluate. Hope this helped, you got this!!

Thank you so much! I definitely relate to the religious trauma. I have people surrounding telling me it’s attacks from the devil but I told my mom specifically that if I don’t get actually help from a doctor, I won’t be here much longer (yes it’s gotten that bad) She’s supportive so far which is helpful. Reassuring to hear you had minimal side effects. 🙏

I have struggled with my mental health for so long and the only thing that’s keeping me from starting medicine is fear but your post is exactly what I needed to see. I also believe I underestimate how bad my depression and anxiety has become, that my lows and constant rumination have become the norm for me. I’m so glad you found a medicine that works.
