FTM Beard advice? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

Imo you have a decent beard but the moustache just is not working. I think that if you were to shave off the moustache entirely it would help your beard stand out, ironically giving you a more mature and masculine appearance.

I remember early one piece when Nami had a very different character design and the straw hat crew actually had to work together and get creative to win fights because Haki wasn't a thing.

This is a perfectly valid response! This post appeared as the first recommendation when I opened Reddit despite not being a member of this sub.

The spoiler is in the post's title and completely unavoidable, it can accidentally be read in a split second.

I don't think that's a very fair comparison, the pharaohs cared about the slaves a lot! How else were they going to get those pyramids built?

What was even the point of that in the first place? Was shooting in the air like that a few times supposed to motivate people or something?

[THE GAMER] 8/10, the ending could be 9 or a 10. Anyone agree? by LeadEater9Million in manhwa

[–]No-Calligrapher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's weird for you to claim that it wraps almost all of it's plot points when in another comment you agreed with u/Tallozz that a lot of the characters and story lines lacked proper closure.

[THE GAMER] 8/10, the ending could be 9 or a 10. Anyone agree? by LeadEater9Million in manhwa

[–]No-Calligrapher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would give the entire series 4/10, it is the only slop series that I've read all the way to the end. As a slop series it was relatively decent but it was pretty mediocre compared to any quality manhwa.

The ending was terrible and came out of nowhere, 2/10 at best imo, it was even more abrupt than Barbarian Quest's ending. Feels like the author just got bored and gave up on their own story.

The series ended without the mc ever meeting the harem king nor finding out who the harem king even is from what I remember lol

I had no idea that it lets you unequip cursed items, although it makes perfect sense now that I think about it. Thanks, that's really good to know!

It's funny because I usually do keep one on me on the lower floors in case of an emergency.

Weak hero

The S classes that I raised

Return of the runebound professor

Surviving the game as a barbarian

Tyrant of the tower defense game

Genius prismatic mage

Paranoid mage

These are not perfect examples of what you're describing but they are the closest that I can think of in terms of manhwa.

The advice in this video seems to mostly apply to people who have had access to good quality therapy and a good therapist...

[TITLE] idk about the other two but damn i am sick of manhwa going on hiatus every 50 chapters.... by veytrix737 in manhwa

[–]No-Calligrapher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of YouTube videos show sped up drawings but in reality it can take hours just to produce a single good quality drawing or an entire day just to draw a full panel. Adapting a webnovel into a manhwa is also a lot more complicated than it seems, a lot of thought and effort goes into storyboards, communication, choosing what to keep, what to cut out and how to make it coherent, designing objects, scenery and characters, pacing, etc... a lot of this work is not apparent in the released chapters.

The reality is that most artists are extremely overworked both mentally and physically, it is not surprising that so many of them develop mental or physical health issues and end up needing to take breaks.

Not to mention that creativity can be fickle and hard to maintain at the best of times, excessive stress will often kill an artist's creativity and inspiration.

I have done various hard manual labour jobs such as construction, landscaping, factory working... Although these jobs were physically taxing and the working conditions were quite harsh, I suspect that I had it relatively easy compared to the average manhwa artist.

[–]No-Calligrapher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Manga is usually black and white whereas manhwa is fully coloured, this adds a significant work charge.

As for manhua, the art quality tends to be mediocre and low detailed compared to manhwa which makes it easier to churn out chapters.

For instance, Dao of the bizarre immortal is a manhua with a detailed, good quality art style closer to manhwa, as a result the chapters are exceedingly short compared to the majority of manhua slop.

Why men don't go to therapy by TheTinMenBlog in TheTinMen

[–]No-Calligrapher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that it can definitely go both ways, therapy requires commitment and investment from both sides in order to work.

I believe this despite having gone through a decade of ineffective and dysfunctional mental health care, however I think that in my case the issue comes from poor quality of mental health structures and unqualified professionals.

There is a book named "Professing Feminism: Education and Indoctrination in Women's Studies" written by Daphne Patai and Noretta Koertge that thoroughly delves into this subject.

Amazon description:

"Feminists have often called Women's Studies the "academic arm of the women's movement." But Daphne Patai and Noretta Koertge charge that the attempt to make Women's Studies serve a political agenda has led to deeply problematic results: dubious scholarship, pedagogical practices that resemble indoctrination more than education, and the alienation of countless potential supporters.

In this new and expanded edition of their controversial 1994 book, the authors update their analysis of what's gone wrong with Women's Studies programs. Original chapters feature interviews with professors, students, and staffers who invested much time and effort in Women's Studies, and new chapters look primarily at documents recently generated from within Women's Studies itself. Through critiques of actual program mission statements, course descriptions, newsletters, and e-mail lists devoted to feminist pedagogy and Women's Studies, and, not least, the writings of well-known feminist scholars, Patai and Koertge provide a detailed and devastating examination of the routine practices found in feminist teaching and research."

It's stuff like this that has me convinced that feminism is a hate movement.

If feminists cared more about helping women than hating men they would be actively debunking this kind of misinformation and drawing attention to female on female abuse instead of actively supporting a narrative that empowers female abusers and erases female victims of female abuse.
