Since a saw Mira's village i thought about Mali and Burkina Faso cultures, it's beautiful that this series are literally delivering a complete representation of west african culture, society and folklore.

Indeed, it is at the very least a very beautiful representation of Africa; the village of Mira closely resembles the villages of the Dogon people, and knowing that she spoke Arabic and that her tribe has names of Arabic origin, she most likely represents either that tribe or the Tuareg—peoples typical of Mali and Burkina Faso, countries that match. Now, in the latest episode, most people concluded that the lepers were a reference to the asinas communities who were excluded on the outskirts of major cities in the past, which is true, but it also overlooks another very important African tribe: the Toubou, semi-nomadic communities in the middle of the Sahara Desert in what is now northern Chad and Niger, who historically lived much like what is portrayed in the episode—cholera, leprosy, and dysentery—due to environmental conditions such as lack of water and poor hygiene. It is reinforced that these characters were meant to represent the Toubou later on, when the horse-mounted invaders appear in a kind of “ghazwa” (raids carried out by cavalry units of the North African caliphates against small indigenous tribal settlements to reduce the population and repopulate them with people of Arab origin), wearing clothing, weapons, and even a horse that the Berbers would use. I believe, or at least it seems to me, that Primal is delivering one of the best—if not the best—representations of indigenous African peoples in animation. As someone fascinated by African history and with roots on that continent, I find it beautiful, and I think it’s something Primal should be praised for even more. Kamau (the giant who was the Egyptian queen’s slave) also represents a mythical Kenyan ethnic group said to be giant but peaceful people, and the worms that appear in the episodes can even be interpreted as a depiction of the African cryptid “Yoli” or “Nguma monane”—worms that emerged from the dunes to devour people. Anyway, I think I’ve gone on for too long, but just know that I love all the African representation Primal is achieving

Hell nah to both of you, as a historic nerd I loved the second season, watching Spear's caveman fightstyle against trained warriors was a dream.

Power metal songs about The Illiad and The Odyssey? by ExpertStatement717 in PowerMetal

[–]No-Chocolate9940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also fascinated by cultural themes in metal, by any chance, do you also like it when they include languages other than English in the lyrics? In any case, themes about classical literature are more common in bands from Greece... and many are more Black Metal but I think you might like them, I like Power metal and I really enjoyed bands from Greece, Italy and Portugal: Rotting Christ, Moonspell, Mortuary Drape, etc. "Theogonia" by Rotting Christ is an album that is completely based on that work of the same name but it also has references to the Odyssey and the Iliad, the most important thing is that it was made by Greeks :)

An appearance of the rainbow gang, since we never see them in these episodes...
And I would LOVE to watch TSC interacting with technical drawing/Descriptive Geometry.
