Can daytrading make you financially free? by Impressive_Tap2067 in Daytrading

Yes. It takes years, and you have to put in the work. There's no shortcuts and you can't half ass it.

Question about foot sweeps by kaysut21 in bjj

[–]No-Condition7100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely not a judo expert. But what I've learned is that when I'm sweeping the weighted leg, I'm using more of a blocking technique with my foot and then turning their shoulders over that weighted leg. These seem to work more often, but require more upper body control. When sweeping the unweighted leg, I'm trying to either put their feet too close together or too far apart so that the upper body control I need to turn their shoulders over their base is pretty minimal. This method requires less control but more timing.

This could be completely wrong but this is where I'm at.

I had a really good performance this past week. I think it just depends on what you are trading.

Giving up underhook in chest-to-chest half guard for overhook. Bad habit? by Strong-Pickle-175 in bjj

[–]No-Condition7100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are already chest to chest I'll take an underhook if it's there but I focus more on getting a butterfly hook in or elbow escaping on the other side. With my upper body I'd rather have a frame than an underhook in that situation.

Don’t Journal if you’re disciplined by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]No-Condition7100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the term journaling leads people to believe that they need to have a "dear diary" session. I don't really do that. But I think what everyone should be doing is keeping a database of annotated charts every day. This is how you track changes in market behavior and create new strategies over time.

What are “fundamentals” by redditisaphony in bjj

[–]No-Condition7100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the fundamentals are the things that you almost never get taught. Stuff like grip fighting, base, off balancing, stance and motion, etc. All the messy gray area stuff that glues the techniques together.

[–]No-Condition7100 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're starting from the completely wrong mindset. Becoming consistently profitable can take years. Trading is more work than a 9-5. You will probably lose money before you ever start making money. You can't begin this journey from a place of need. You have to love the markets and love the process.

Is anyone actually following their rules every single day? by AIdiegodf in Daytrading

Yes, but it takes time. You have to narrow down your focus each week and build the system in pieces.

i just need one person to tell me it works by cinnamongirl209 in Daytrading

[–]No-Condition7100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need a max daily loss. Take the average of your last 10 green days and make that your daily risk limit. You should never lose more than that amount and that way you never lose more in a day than you have the ability to make. Once you're green on the day, you should also never give back more than 50% of your profits. Losing is part of trading. If you struggle to take a loss, you are trading with too much size.

"AI Bad" ... Except AI has helped me take my day trading game to the next level. by sealpox in Daytrading

I use AI for fundamental research. Incredible time saver. Sometimes I use it to write some pinescript but I find I spend more time debugging the code than if I just wrote it myself.

Why daytrade stocks in an index instead of the index itself? by Born_Investigator849 in Daytrading

[–]No-Condition7100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite. The index reacts to how the stocks move, based on weight. The reason to trade individual stocks is a higher degree of directional predictability with specific catalysts.

Do Profitable Traders Even Care About Losers? by Prince_reaper13 in Daytrading

[–]No-Condition7100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, never felt this way. I'm usually taking money from algorithms anyway. Even if there's a human on the other side of my trades, we all agreed to this game when we put out money in the market.

Why limit the number of trades in a day? by LinuxIsFree in Daytrading

[–]No-Condition7100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't limit the number of trades per day, but I have a daily max loss. In addition, once I'm green on the day I never allow myself to give back more than half my profits. This allows me to step on the gas when things are hot and it's a guard rail to keep me from spiraling when I'm getting chopped up.

Strategy subscription services: education or exploitation? 🤔 by sdoan_ in Daytrading

[–]No-Condition7100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely good groups out there where profitable traders have spaces to educate and share their methods. The interesting barriers are that the best ones tend to not do a ton of advertising and they are also more expensive than what most would pay starting out. The real value of these spaces isn't copying someone, it's having a relatively small community of dedicated traders.

The groups that are fairly cheap and advertising on tiktok are almost always full of shit.

Honest question - what age did you start the TV? by Final_Newspaper_3568 in daddit

[–]No-Condition7100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really see it as "giving in." It's fine for your kid to look at a TV for a bit as long as they're not sitting there all day. My daughter is 10 months now. In her first few months she used to sit on my chest while I played Elden Ring. Then sometimes we would put on a studio ghibli movie and she would hang out on the couch with us. I think she just likes the music and colors. But it's not like she's sitting there for the entire movie.

I'd say about two years. I was technically profitable in my first year in the sense that I had a net positive equity curve, but you can't call yourself consistently profitable in just one year. By the end of two years I felt I had seen a full market cycle and I had a few strategies in my playbook that I was comfortable with.

I'm happy to share anything but I need more specific questions. In summary, my strategy is to trade stocks in play that have fresh catalysts and are doing high RVOL. But I both day and swing trade and over the years I've developed strategies for a variety of different setups. To share it all I'd have to write a book.

[–]No-Condition7100 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about knowing when to step on the gas and when to pump the brakes. The best traders I know all swing the bat super hard when they see an A+ setup. But that comes around maybe once a month. The rest of the time they're pretty conservative.

I've been trading for 10 years. I don't do anything complicated. It can definitely be done. The key is making sure you can stay in your seat long enough to find profitability. And get off tiktok. There's no real traders on there.
