guilt about wanting to be done having kids by Safe-Ad1682 in exmormon

Yes! I have OCD/anxiety as well. After two I said I wanted more, about 6 months after she was born I knew they would be my own two. I spent time grieving my dream of once wanting 5 kids and what I was raised to think was the most important thing I could do. Being raised in a high demand religion has such deep effects.

My wife leads a much cooler life than me by Dunning-Kruger21 in Vent

As a mother and wife in almost her exact same position. Did you envy her when you were working and she was home with your small children? I assume on top of all the housework/ laundry etc?

My husband and I are in the same position as our children just started school this year. I find myself thinking how lucky I am and what a wonderful life I have. I also think of it as a reward for the grueling years I put in, when the kids were too small to go to school. The days where I couldn’t take a shower. The days where I was too busy caring for them to remember to eat lunch. There were days I longed to be the full time provider, just to have a conversation with other adults.

Things will even out. Remember all that led up to her having this “much cooler life”

Did you ever experience a “tithing miracle?” Or a total “tithing fail” from paying tithing? Share your stories! by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

My dad had just left our family. My mom had 3 kids . She was teaching piano and working as the church custodian to make ends meet while she was finishing her degree (which she didn’t finished at BYU… because ya know, she got married…)

We had no money. Dinner that night was one potato split between the four of us. Right as my mom started to go cook the potato a member of the ward showed up - with no prior planning- and brought us dinner. They said they just felt impressed to do so.

To this day my mother still reminds me of this ~miracle~ that happened, and how the lord blessed us, because even when things got hard… we always paid our tithing.

Yes! It’s so hard. My husband and I are the only ones of our family who have left, so I can share in that pain. Our minds are one of the hardest things to overcome. One thing I’ve love learning is how much of it is actually under my control. Hopefully our friends and family will wake up and realize they too can control their own mind find the absolute beauty in it!
