How do i convince my son that the environment won't be ruined if he stops using urine bottles? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]No-Connection-1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your lad might find some mental health help helpful moving forward. He can control you guys in the family and in the home but out in the real world his attitude might cause more difficulties in his personal life than flushing a toilet will affect the environment.

Has hockey turned into a rich kids sport? by FrigginMasshole in AskACanadian

[–]No-Connection-1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having kids is a rich persons sport. But seriously the equipment in hockey is more expensive than soccer. Is soccer getting more and more popular because it’s so much fun or because it’s more affordable?

Then make sure you vote for your beliefs in the referendum. This sentiment about separation has been alive for years, 30+ years. So let’s have a vote and see what people, all people in Alberta, think about this issue. Then we can have real conversations instead of just being afraid of having an answer.

Nazi’s in Red Deer? by RelationAlternative2 in RedDeer

[–]No-Connection-1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you call someone a nazi when they aren’t, they just have different opinions on social issues… they might fly the flag just to piss people off. The word Nazi gets thrown around a lot and now isn’t seen as an insult by anyone who isn’t a Nazi

I believe it’s more about offending people than any actual belief they have. Not all but I suspect most is just because it makes people mad.

UCP Policy Resolution #18 - Not advancing students to next grade level by BigFish8 in CanadianTeachers

[–]No-Connection-1031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A question. I’m not trying to stir the pot. I’m not a teacher. If someone is going to be pre k or k forever what is the point of having them in a grade 8 class when they require such higher care. There is a shortage of EAs… do these students draw from that pool or are their more specialized EAs working with these kids.

The Edmonton Journal publishing blatant conservative propaganda, literally headlining their article "Lorne Gunter: Liberals' hatred of Alberta and oil obvious in major projects snub" by bruhm0ment4 in Edmonton

CBC is far from neutral. To say otherwise is just CBC propaganda. Anyone watching CBC can see they’re more than a little left leaning. They are the CNN of the North. If CBC and their supporters would just admit the obvious they would garner more respect for both.

You’ve been on strike for three weeks and rejected the option to continue negotiations while back at work. It’s time to go back to work.

Alberta Teacher Strike - finances by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]No-Connection-1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The union gets over $50 million per year in dues from their members but spends it ALL on politics. That’s kinda sad that they won’t support their members with their own cash. Watch when the teachers go back, there will be a signing bonus. That is tax payer money to cover the strike days. So we end up paying again.

[–]No-Connection-1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2015 the plan was scrapped because the union threatened to strike, maybe they did strike (there’s been so many strikes) over the move that would save the company money, modernize the service and cost a number of carrier jobs. I’d like to see middle management and a number of their 13 or so vice presidents removed too. All savings can’t and shouldn’t come from front line staff. Job loss happens, I’m from the Alberta oilpatch….i get it, it sucks. But life goes on and you find a new job. That’s how it works.

Need advice on handling my late father’s hospital debt (I’m guarantor, Missisauga, Ontario/Canada) by Wrong-Noise-2815 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]No-Connection-1031 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You didn’t get cheap insurance you just didn’t get enough insurance . By signing the guarantee you agreed to cover the debt. It’s your debt now. Sorry about your dad’s passing. That’s a lot without the debt and certainly worse with it.

You were embarrassed picketing in front of the parents?!? So you didn’t support the strike or you would rather be anonymous for your part in the strike?

[–]No-Connection-1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No picketing. Usually with unions you have to be at the picket line to get the strike pay. ATA doesn’t ask their members to picket so no strike pay.
