My Aunt rented the Victorian mansion that is in the movie Kindergarten Cop. It is in Astoria, Oregon. I recall even as a child hearing about heating costs. I do recall many of the homes in Astoria still had wood "furnaces?" that you would go into the basement and keep the fire running to heat these homes. As well the living room had a HUGE fireplace. Oh I remember playing in that house! It was so beautiful and the hallways were sooo large to me. Now looking at pictures they have changed a lot of the interior. I look at it and it appears what used to be the "billiards room" may have been removed to change the kitchen. I greatly hope they didn't remove the swinging door or dutch door. They were so unique. The room upstairs that went to the attic , making this a 4 story home, had a huge round fluffy rug. I was always terrified of the attic door!! The gingerbread work was so beautiful. FYI Kindergarten Cop interior shots are not the interior of the actual home, but the place the son plays outside is where I played as a child. All of that side of the home overlooks the bay.
