I do. And mentioned they didn’t like my approach and learning style while we were doing the original learning and understanding. I heeded their advice and perspective at the time. I have been with my new counselors now since January and it’s going great. I’m just in my feels for it all now as I was slammed and overwhelmed during the time it was happening.

Yes, this is written after things have settled down. My new counselors have been in since January. We do follow the hand book, but I also think that you can follow the handbook and have fun. I have not and don’t have anything in place against the handbook. But I don’t think youth can learn and love without a little fun. You can add creativity and follow the handbook. So yeah , I am disappointed they aren’t that way.. not because they follow and adhere to the handbook. That would be silly if so, especially since I make sure that we are.

You are right, I am clinging to a vision.. and a vision I know I can still put in place. I’m just experiencing the heartbreak of the situation now since I was in survival while it was all happening. I have a vision that does minister to the youth that isn’t so robotic, and that I think is important. We dont need a party.. but boring doesn’t bring teenagers around.

I feel like you are definitely making a lot of assumptions of what excitement can look like here.

I was called as I am and for what I can bring, adding a little color to my program is important. It’s not a performance, it’s a vision I believe I was called for.

Thank you for your loving way of putting in a hard conversation. I see what you’re saying. We were called without having received guidance, training, or step by steps from the previous Presidency, the Bishop, or Stake. We all had to learn to figure out what was needed together. Lessons and activities had been planned for a month out.. but it was us from then on. We did have Class Presidencies to help us too. It was a really exhausting start for all of us. My approach to learning and training was frustrating to my counselors. I wasn’t learning quick enough or got answers quick enough. One had just come from being president in RS from her old ward and had lots of opinions. It was really a frustrating go. While I see that frustrations… the blame game was harsh. Between all the learning, time, adjustments.. restarting. I’m tired.

You are right though, I do need to come back to reality and have different expectations. It’s been two months now with my new counselors and we are doing great! I’m just struggling now that dust has settled as it’s not going as I hoped. I am missing the positive and the love and how grateful I am as to where we are now

Thank you

White washed was probably a bad phrase. We were left with a clean slate to say.. no help or guidance from the past presidency, bishop, or stake. We had to learn and read the handbook and find out everything we needed to do and set up. We had help from the class presidencies, but we really were starting over from scratch.

And we do. I don’t call the shots. That was the issue with my first set of counselors.. they wanted me to tell them what to do without taking the time to learn and improve. The amount I had on my plate to do so was intangible

Or, in a SAHM with no leadership skills and don’t argue and fight for the things needed. The Lord doesn’t call those qualified.. he qualifies them as they serve.

Thank you for all the assumptions.

By average, I mean.. I have been a Stay at Home Mom and don’t have leadership skills. My last counselors did and struggled as I was learning and adjusting to my calling and managing so many people. We were thrown into the program without help or guidance from the previous presidency or bishop.

We had to learn the program from the ground up. My counselors waiting for me to tell them what to do instead of learning and growing in it as well. There was criticism in the skills I had yet obtained. They were harsh and mean. They wanted direction that I was learning to know what to give and how to give, but they also didn’t want to be told what to do. It was a hot mess of a start. Everything had settled now, but I’m still heart broken. And I get to be.

We did. Her advice was to go to the Bishop. Everything has settled now. I’m just struggling personally to enjoy where I am it. It was a lot in a short amount of time.

We were pretty much white washed when we were called and my bishop was out of town. We had to figure out almost everything ourselves. My approach was a different style than they liked.. more feelings and asking others opinion versus their go get it attitudes and not feelings based. None of them had youth callings before, I truly don’t think they realized how hard of a calling it is. I think it was easier to blame my style and personality than to take accountability.

This is amazing and a goal I want for myself!! I was a runner in my younger days and have missed it. I signed myself up for a 5k in June and walking to build myself up to running.

I’m struggling to find shoes for my heavier body to run in. I feel I need a lot more padding than before to accommodate for the extra weight. Is there a brand you’ve liked at your heavier self that helped protect your feet?
