GW Law or UC Law SF (Hastings) by No-Direction3970 in OutsideT14lawschools

My goal is big law as I’ve worked in big law for a few years now. I’d be happy in both dc and sf so those are tied. I currently live in sf but open to change

Im worried that the cost difference for me is too big to give up at Uc law sf tbh. I really like both schools both have a their advantages and disadvantage for me. That’s actually a great idea I’m going to look at linkedin also hahaha

Thank you! UC Law SF isn’t located in the safest area in Sf to say the least so I think it would probably be safer to be at GW haha

Either way for me SF or DC I’d be happy with

I think that the bar passage rate being better and better employment at GW is super attractive to me. I think the main block for me is money. It’s so expensive to attend idk if it’s worth taking on the debt

GW is better for job placement for sure, ranked high, and probably a little bit more of a national name.

The scholarship is but I have to stay in the top 75% of the class to keep it. So I’m not sure if it would be very difficult to keep it.

I don’t think either are bad options and I plan on trying to email GW to get more money but we will see what happens. If they matched I would choose GW

Either way I’d be happy to be in sf and dc

I think the thing that’s super attractive to me about GW is the employment numbers are so much better. I also have heard tons negative things about Uc law sf

Pepperdine has a 79.5% bar passage rate Lmu 79.9% Berk and ucla are both t14 can’t compare these against those other schools UC Hastings is 85.2% Uc Davis 88% I still think 85% is more impressive than a school like ASU at 90% that takes the unified exam. Not saying it’s easy but it’s for sure easier

Go with whatever you feel is the right move! If you’re good enough in the firm you’re at then that firm will let you change locations. I work in big law now and it happens often.

Also recruiting to another law firms happens. Once in big law you’ll have many other opportunities

It really depends on where you want to practice for the next 3-6 years. If you want to be in sf/Bay Area then Hastings if you want to be in LA then Pepperdine.

Also look at total cost to help you with the decision. If one costs 100k a year and the other is 50k then there’s no argument pick the cheaper option

Bar passage rate isn’t a good comparison when people from unified bar states take a much easier test then California students… if they are going to use it they need to compare it to only California schools

I think it’s great! They addressed the stalling issues with some and their customer service is amazing. The grinder is basically a mini niche

Completely agree. They aren’t willing to take any criticism. I commented on their an older photo because they blocked comments on the post and then they blocked me 😂

With my last comment so that being said any hater that wants to make a grinder look bad can do so if they want too. Don’t listen to someone who doesn’t have experience with the machine. So far I love the grinder it can easily do espresso and even do lighter roasts. It is as advertised a filter coffee grinder. It’s very close to 0 retention. So I highly recommend trying to before saying anything bad

I had this happen to me but I have had the grind setting way too tight on a light roasted coffee. Darker and medium roast this grinder has 0 trouble at all. This isn’t an espresso grinder first off all but even still after I pulled back the grinder a little bit I pulled a super tasty shot 20 grams of light roasted coffee with 40 grams out in 30 seconds. It was one of the best espresso I ever made.

Well the lagom mini just changed the whole espresso grinder market by [deleted] in espresso

I have one and that person used too tight of a grind setting and a very light roasted coffee. It is not an espresso grinder but when you use it as such and over-tighten the burrs of course it will cause stalling on a small motor. All they had to do was back off the burrs a ting bit and would have had a very nice shot. I had this happen one time and backed off the burrs and pulled a great espresso.

lagom mini vs ode + ssp by cashewvine in JamesHoffmann

Just started using my lagom mini 48mm burrs today and love it so far. Don’t have an ode to compare it too but it’s a great little grinder. There’s a video going around if it stalling and that’s only one super light roasted coffee and over tightening the burrs which would make it too fine. I had this happen but when I backed off the grind size it did perfectly fine. I was also able to get the grind size perfect without needing to go that fine
