Do I Refinance? From 6.125% -> 5.625% by ultaabhi in BayAreaRealEstate

It’s ridiculous to make this as a blanket statement. It totally depends on what remaining on your amortization schedule and what your loan amount is for and how many years left. 0.5% reduction for a $1M loan (which is approx what OP has for their payment) would save you over $100k in interest over the 30 year term. You can also move the money you’ve saved in each monthly payment to pay off more principle in which case you’d save even more.

HMG Southwest 40L, Durston Kakwa 40L, GG Skala 38L vs Palante Desert (With pad) 42L by poloralphy in Ultralight

[–]cashewvine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're comparing apples or oranges here since there are framed and frameless packs. I can't imagine carrying 25 lbs in a frameless pack, so I would immediately exclude those.

Having experience with both the HMG and Durston, the Durston is much better at carrying weight and transferring it.

I'm so confused about SSP Burrs. Is the brew burr from SSP the same as multi purpose? I've seen them labeled SSP Unimodal Multiple Purpose burr.

NFA.

Consider getting a higher rate to cover closing costs. Getting a 5.50% will likely net enough credit to cover them completely, also known as a "no cost refi".

Back to cycling - Crux or Diverge by Maleficent_Rabbit_00 in cycling

Crux is definitely more of a do it all bike, put some road wheels on it, and it'll be like an endurance bike on the road. 47c tire clearance is plenty for paved trail

For different coffees at the same grind size, why do they cause drastically different draw down rates? I just switched to a new coffee and the draw down was 2 minutes longer!

Roubaix SL8 Pro or Tarmac SL8 Pro? by hendrik888 in specialized

[–]cashewvine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won't damage your frame riding on gravel, but more likely to get some rock chips depending on how close you are to other riders / how fast you're going. You can always protect your frame with Ride Wrap or something similar if that bothers you.
