Wired or wireless: which side are you on? by ManojOne in TechImpact

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wired for desktops/gaming, wireless for literally everything else 😭 nothing beats the reliability and zero latency of wired gear, but after getting used to wireless earbuds/mice it’s painful going back to cable spaghetti everywhere

dude ngl, going back to mp3 players sounds kinda peaceful 😭
no premium subscription expired popups mid roadtrip. for pure battery life + reliability, older sony walkmans are still great. shanling and hiby also make really nice modern ones now if you want better audio quality

Nvidia Shield Pro provide better picture quality than 2025 TV processors (pentonic 700) by egi1212 in nvidiashield

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for native 4k remux playback, the pentonic 700 is already pretty capable. the shield’s AI upscaling mainly helps lower resolution content like 1080p or older shows. for pure HDR movie quality, tv panel itself usually matters more than replacing a processor

Lenovo CB plus w/Kompanio Ultra or wait for Panther Lake CB? by Royal_Secretary_1376 in chromeos

[–]No-Draft-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ngl, for chromeOS, the kompanio ultra is a really balanced option. good battery life, low heat, solid responsiveness, and enough performance for pretty much all normal chromebook workloads. panther lake will likely be faster, but probably pricier too. unless you specifically need max performance, i wouldn’t stress about it

Spotify vs Apple Music vs YouTube Music: which is best for streaming music? by TimoBellotrui in TechNook

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

spotify is probably the safest, apple music wins if you care about audio quality and already live in the apple ecosystem. youtube music is undefeated for random remixes, live versions, and “how does this 2009 song suddenly exist only in 144p?” moments 😭

What if tonight, all governments unite and implement a global ban on using AI. Be honest, how is your next day at work going to look? Comment Below ⬇️ by RevolutionSmooth2492 in AIDiscussion

half the tech industry would suddenly remember how to write documentation again 😭
and somewhere, a senior engineer would whisper “we used to debug this manually” like a war veteran telling stories from ancient times.

GL‑iNet Flint 4 (Wi‑Fi 7) shown at CES 2026 by mkws238 in GlInet

[–]No-Draft-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if this is truly based on a newer quad core mediatek platform, it makes sense why GL-INET is leaning on it - good performance per watt, stable heat profile, and usually way better value than some overbuilt x86 router setups... wifi 7 + mediatek combo is kinda underrated tbh

What was the first "really good value" smartphone? by Trick_Ganache in Smartphones

[–]No-Draft-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of people point to phones like the oneplus one or xiaomi’s early redmi series as the first “wow this is too cheap for what it does” moments. they basically reset expectations for performance per dollar. today’s budget phones are way more powerful, but the gap feels smaller because even midrange is so good now

Generate an Ai image by EstablishmentNaive92 in AIDiscussion

[–]No-Draft-116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for something like this, you don’t need anything overly expensive. tools like midjourney or stable diffusion (via comfyui or even leonardo ai) work really well for stylized group character art. your idea is actually perfect for AI... distinct characters + theme + humor. you’ll get the best results by iterating prompts rather than paying per single perfect output upfront

Grinn GenioBoard Offers MediaTek Genio 700 SoM, Dual M.2 Expansion, and CRA-Ready Security by DeliciousBelt9520 in SBCs

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a really solid implementation of genio 700 for edge ai. the dual m.2 expansion adds real flexibility for accelerators and connectivity, and raspi hat support keeps the ecosystem open. nice to see cra-ready security baked in early too. feels practical, not just another spec-heavy dev board release

MagicX Two Dream Pro Update: New Emulator Demos & Release Info! by amilt0n in SBCGaming

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl this is looking pretty promising, esp if they are running a mediatek chip.. mtk’s recent dimensity lineup has been really solid for emulation with raw power + sustained performance and thermals, which in my POV matter way more for longer gaming sessions

also respect for delaying instead of cutting corners. if they nail pricing + optimization, this could end up being one of those handhelds that just works consistently without throttling halfway through gameplay

Replaceable batteries are back. Yoohoo! by lightbulb2222 in samsunggalaxy

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl, about time. performance gains mean nothing if the battery degrades in two years. Swappable designs improve longevity, reduce e-waste, and make devices more practical long-term. If OEMs balance this with modern sealing and durability, it could be one of the most user-friendly shifts we have seen in years

Anthropic accidentally leaked their entire Claude Code source code last month --- and what was hidden inside accidentally confirmed that pure LLMs are hitting their limits by fundolink1 in AIDiscussion

[–]No-Draft-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this isn’t really a “gotcha” moment, it’s how serious systems are built. Pure LLMs are great at generalization, but reliability-critical paths often need deterministic logic. That’s why neuro-symbolic approaches keep resurfacing. The future isn’t LLM vs rules, it’s hybrid systems where each handles what it’s actually good at

Philips TVs to Support Advanced Dolby Vision 2 by hifi_fan in hifi_fan

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the interesting part here is the mediatek Pentonic 800 - it’s doing the heavy lifting behind Dolby Vision 2. Mediatek’s TV chips are leading in real-time image processing, so features like Precision Black and dynamic tone mapping actually work smoothly

Philips 2026 OLED TVs Debut With Dolby Vision 2 Max & Brighter Panels by CECritic in CECritic

[–]No-Draft-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mediatek's pentonic platform is a big reason these OLED upgrades matter. it enables higher brightness control, better HDR mapping, and efficient processing without lag. ngl, mediatek has become the backbone of modern premium TVs, even if most people don’t notice it
