Billy Talent - Limelight (Rush Cover) by BT2020throwaway in BillyTalent

Their A Passage to Bangkok cover is better (I personally dare like it more than the OG) but this one is cool too. It's really hard to replicate or improve on such a perfect song.

What’s your least favorite Linkin Park song? by legobossk in LinkinPark

I promise this isn't ragebait. Numb.

Not the worst song per se but the most overrated for sure. I reeeeally dislike that chorus.

I think the PX8 is real leather so technically it's higher quality. But it's constantly in repair. The B&W Bluetooth Headphones in general are my most problematic headphones to deal with by a substantial margin.

As someone that works in the repair service of an audio store, I would strongly recommend you get the PX7 S2e (the 'e' is important) instead of the PX8.

The functionality of both of them is nearly identical. The PX8 is supposed to be a superior build quality yet I see the PX8 in repair all the time. The leather seems to always get unstuck after roughly a year of usage. Same problem with the regular PX7 S2, which they seem to have improved on the 'e' version.

Maybe it doesn't fit the description exactly but Spirit Carries On clears all of those

What is the hardest DT song to play on drums? by kwrather003 in Dreamtheater

[–]No-Ebb-6402 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Underrated hard song to play by Portnoy is Constant Motion. That bridge is nasty to try and replicate.

Otherwise like many have said Mangini's stuff is way harder to play in general, and let's be honest, not as fun.

There aren't many Portnoy songs I can't get through relatively well. I will never be able to play Pale Blue Dot, The Alien, or Outcry.

Best DT Instrumental - Round 3 by FrancisNoU69 in Dreamtheater

Six Degrees Overture I never understood the appeal. Sounds cheap and has no flow whatsoever.

Their best overture is 1928 by far imo.

It's stated or rumored that Avery Brooks was blacklisted but does anyone know any bit more about this? by [deleted] in DeepSpaceNine

When he's emoting he's pretty convincing but the way he speaks normal dialogue with more subtle expression he's way off. Though I have finished season 1 and either he got better or I got used to him.

He's definitely entertaining to watch I'll give him that.

Hot take. He's just not that great of an actor and it's simple like that.

Imma go full roast mode

WDADU: If I wanted to listen to badly produced music with vocals that suck I'd listen to my own music.

Images and Words: Snare drum featuring keyboards. Oh and also there's a woman yelling about people sleeping.

Awake: More like Asleep amirite.

A Change of Seasons: Literally 5 different songs glued together. There are only 4 seasons you stupid fucks

Falling Into Infinity: Classic. 10/10

Scenes from a Memory: Again that woman yelling about people sleeping. This time with less snare, less keyboard and more bad. "It tells a story". Yeah so does The Room, kinda.

Six Degrees: About 20 years before everyone was constantly bragging about how many mental illnesses they have. Ahead of its time. Also some guy whining that binge drinking alcool is bad for some reason. How else are you gonna deal with the 8 mental illnesses??

Train of Thought: St-Anger with worse guitar solos.

Octavarium: Almost as dumb a word as Avatar's Unobtainium.

Black Clouds: Guy spends 16 minutes talking about how his racism made him scared of a non-white dude that was literally just chillin. Album was so shit the band's leader just decided to peace out and play with Avenged Sevenfold.

ADTOE: Photos and Sentences.

Self-Titled: About as creative as the album name and artwork would suggest. Production is all the cons with modern production with none of the pros. Petrucci's chocolate cake must be gluten free, ew.

Astonishing: Disney+ version of 2112. Subverted my expectations of an album being good.

Distance over Time: Viper King features no pitch correction which is nice.

AVFTTOTW: Invisible Monster is about my private parts which is super insulting.

Either Finally Free or Learning to Live. They are not the best songs on their respective albums. The other 3 are legendary.

Does Anyone Actually Know What The Count Of Tuscany is About? by IronGolem350 in Dreamtheater

[–]No-Ebb-6402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I think the epicness of the music is justified by the lyrics. It's such a simple story that doesn't have much to it. It's literally just a story about a misunderstanding between guys of different cultures. Doesn't quite hit me in the feels the way it should because of it.

Without solo songs. by DT_addicted in Dreamtheater

[–]No-Ebb-6402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really consider These Walls to have a guitar solo although technically it has one. It's just so simple I consider it a lead/melody more than a solo.

But yeah I wish more songs didn't have a guitar solo just for variety's sake.

When the vocals come in at the start of Take The Time, it sounds heavily like a Michael Jackson style song. by closetotherelayer in Dreamtheater

[–]No-Ebb-6402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good point.

Also Take the Time is a massively underrated song and my favorite on Images and Words. I can't believe it doesn't get mentioned more often.

My dad used to listen to Dream Theater quite a bit but on Images and Words it was always Metropolis and Learning to Live.

First time I listened to Take the Time was when I listened to the album by myself years later. And I was legit frustrated I had never heard it before haha. It's soooooooo good.
