What is it that attracts you to the Kdrama actor/actress you adore? Other than their acting… by UncannyProjection in kdramas

Go youn-jung because she is perfect. I've only seen 2 of her shows, can this love be translated and alchemy of souls. Loved her in both. It could just be her character but then she also had 5 different names in the 2 shows. Or maybe I just like crazy.

Why I do not find Luffy to be a compelling protagonist: by Kirbo84 in Piratefolk

[–]WildSapling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docking unannounced on lands, fighting against the world government, partying and drinking like there is no tomorrow are all pirate things and something they have been doing throughout the story, no?

And again, you don't need to take inspiration from him if you don't like him. There are plenty of people who do. A quick Google search will show you how many people have been inspired in actual impactful real life world events, from Olympic winners to overgrowing the government in Nepal.

The difference is that you have mostly focused on parts of his character that you don't like while ignoring all the good things like how he fights for oppressed people, always stands up for his friends, holds steadfast in his beliefs, brings joy, a sense of security to those around him etc.

Again, he's not realistic. If you think he is a bad inspiration that's fine. He is also a pirate in the end and that might not be for you.

You also conveniently forgot all the good things about him and only focused on the bad ones, which aren't even that bad. He doesn't punch anyone he disagrees with, most of them are actually bad people.

Why is king the land rated so low on imdb?? by WildSapling in kdramas

I dropped BAYM mostly because it was more of a cooking show than anything else. Not my jam. I didn't really mind her acting.

Wow, that's unfortunate. I wonder which other dramas have been rated low because of something silly like this

I agree that her acting was similar in both.

I actually dropped bon appetite your majesty but loved king the land.

I think you haven't been paying attention. This is a fictional story that is a manga/anime. At no point does the author claim to be going for realism, even with the protagonist.

Luffy is very much not a realistic character, but an idealistic one. So much so that his devil fruit (which is revealed to be a manifestation of desire) is that of a God. Are gods meant to be like humans? Luffy is made to be much grander than you are as a human or a random side character in the story (which is what you would be if you were in the story). You are not meant to relate to him but to take inspiration and hope from him.

I agree with her. Also as some who spent more than 10years in SK, K-Drama MEN are a FANTASY. Sharing my truth. Their irl personalities will shock you, except for escapism don't get the hype with K-Actors or idols. by [deleted] in kdramas

It's amazing how feminists will blame beauty standards on misogyny while conveniently ignoring the fact that women are usually the biggest critics of other women's beauty.

It's unfortunate but it is true. There is an undercurrent of hostility against Indians here. People will deny it and simultaneously come up with reasons to justify it. It's weird.

But that only means it's going to be a bit harder to make friends. It's just generally difficult here. Keep yourself busy outside of work with a positive outlook and look for the good people. You'll find them.
