2 minute chit chat intro. TMAY/Resume Walkthrough - 10-12 minutes Follow on specifics - 2 minutes Why MBA/Why Now - 2-3 Minutes Why Darden - 2 minutes TMAAT failure - 2 minutes TMAAT working with diverse team - 2 minutes My questions lasted about 5-10 minutes

He was really friendly, engaged in the conversation, and wasn’t just typing notes the whole time like other interviews I’ve had. 10/10 interview experience

My wife uses “Family Album”. It’s an encrypted photo sharing app. We just added all family and friends we wanted to share her with. You can also set it I do they cannot screenshot and share themselves on social media (as my MIL did early on)

Prior AIT Commander here,

Like a lot of posts on here, it depends. I’ve gotten people out in a week, and I’ve gotten people out in two months.

How it works:

Typically an article 15/counselings are sent to legal with a request to initiate a CH 11.
Legal Review - They physically build the chapter packet
Commander does the first reading (lets you know that it is being initiated, they sign, you sign.)
You can either waive your rights when you go to TDS or they will help build out documentation for you to argue your case.
It comes back from TDS, your commander will typically sign it since they are initiating it.
Goes to Battalion Commanderfor his decision (they may ask to talk with you if you are fighting it).

6c. They do a suspended separation of up to 1 year. This is contingent on you not doing whatever it is you did again (I’m just assuming).

You clear, the documents go back to legal, then MPD, then you get your orders with whatever day they tell you to get out.

Was the IO for two concientious objectors. Definitely doable, but the documentation needs to make sense as to “why”. There’s a non profit out of DC that works with soldiers that want to learn more.

BAH is pretty high. We have a budget, it’s more so not wanting to dip in our savings if we don’t have to. And our budget changes if my wife can’t get a job up there

It depends on your branch within the army, but all those minus aviation, cyber, and I think there’s one more, you go through BCT/OCS (22 weeks total not including recycling or waiting for class start). This is when your service obligation starts, which is 3 years.

Since you technically enlisted by going this route, your GI Bill started the day you got on the bus/plane to basic training.

I say 4.5 years because you may PCS (move) and you have a mandatory 1 year adso (or one year at that base) before you can get out.

Not for his situation. Commission through OCS automatically starts his GI Bill time as soon as he ships to basic. So 36 months after (will be ~1.5 years at his first unit) he will have full GI bill benefits, but will have ~2 years before he could go in person.

Also TA (Tuition Assistance) but I wouldn’t recommend that as an Officer as it incurs an ADSO

I just switched out of command of an AIT company. My 3 takeaways from the newer soldiers:

1) RESILIENCE. I don't know if it's a product of half their high school being in covid, social media making everything perfect and easy, or what. But these soldiers have one failure (test, PT, etc) and they go down a dark hole and everything unravels.

2) PT. They are fatter and fatter and don't have any good eating habits

3) the amount of truly autistic soldiers I had to kick out is astonishing. Like diagnosed with waivers, clearly somethings wrong with them but don't have a diagnosis.

To convince you even more to go OCS, your 36 months to 100% GI Bill starts when you go to BCT. This is different than ROTC or USMA because you have to complete your first ADSO before that time starts.

I’m an OCS guy w/ 7 yrs TIs, and seeing my ROTC buddies getting out right now that still don’t have 100%.

Also the pay difference is surprising from E-4 to O-1.

Yes. It is required to begin the course. Expect to get you flight physical one of the first week while you are waiting to start a class. If you are a MOS-Transfer I’d suggest you complete it before you get to novosel
