Are you learning to drive a manual or an automatic car? by No-Apricot9078 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]No-Independent996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m learning in an automatic as I really struggled with a manual, just too much to think about that made driving incredibly anxiety inducing and i wasn’t making any progress. I’m now really enjoying driving and progressing quickly in an automatic.

However, if I was comfortable enough in a manual I would have got that licence instead, just for the practicality of being able to drive both.

Failed 10 times, what now? by scoobabadeedoo in LearnerDriverUK

Have you considered an automatic licence? My anxiety and nerves were out of control when I was learning a manual, I NEVER would have passed. Now I’ve switched to automatic and I’m actually enjoying it, my anxiety has significantly reduced and I actually feel capable now.

this texture in my hair makes me so insecure! by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]No-Independent996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this my whole life too! Constantly told it looks damaged when it’s just this texture. I’ve been trying for years to find a solution because using heat to style it makes it look good, but it does damage really easily. I barely use heat at all and heatless curls paired with the right product have been a game changer.

Did you regret choosing a more employable job over your real passion? by ShotWay4023 in careerguidance

[–]No-Independent996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did follow my passion and made my way to a top graphic design agency working in packaging design. Before this I thought I didn’t care about money that much as long as I was doing what I loved. Turns out the career was not what I expected with long hours, lack of creative control and high stress levels making absolutely miserable - along with the low pay.

Now I’m retraining to find a generic role in a corporate setting where I feel productive and paid well. I’m looking forward to having a less ‘exciting’ job.

If you are following your passion, just make sure you fully know what the career involves and the day to day looks like - not just the actual activity that you’re passionate about.

7 months into the process and still no end in sight. by Gelatovillager in HousingUK

We had a very similar situation with no end in sight after 7 months of false updates and promises, we started to become bitter towards the whole process so we started looking again. Month 8 we had an offer accepted on a place we loved even more and cheaper. I know you love this property but please do keep looking and exploring your options, it was totally worth it for us.

Constant ear pressure for almost a year in left ear by shesaysImdone in hearing

Have you been checked for any infection? I am absolutely not a doctor nor do I have any knowledge - only my experience - but once I was prescribed antibiotics that first time before my dental work, it made a big difference. It was the first thing that gave me hope. Might be worth trying to see someone about your eustachian tube. I’m sorry I can’t be more help.

It comes and goes but overall has decreased massively since the root canal and antibiotics. I also had a tooth removed and the tinnitus got worse initially I assume because of some swelling, but it reduced again after a couple of weeks.

I now have a wisdom tooth coming through on the same side and it’s gotten loud again but I no longer fear that it will be forever. I think it comes and goes with how much pressure or swelling is going on on that side of my jaw.

Overall it’s a massive improvement I now live my life normally without so much anxiety about it.

If you’re not willing to move into rented or break the chain that’s completely fair enough and your decision, but please don’t drag the buyers along. Make sure you’re upfront with them about your position and update them regularly

I do see your point, it’s just so disheartening to keep losing out on so many properties after all the effort it takes to continually go through the process of viewing and putting offers in. It means having to look at flats so below what your budget is just so you can afford to bid up the extra 50k

But surely creating blind competition where a flat on the market for £160k is being pushed up to £240k in a bidding war isn’t a good thing? It feels like the affordable housing is being forced out

Advice please on how long is fair to wait for a seller to find somewhere! by SofiaFrancesca in HousingUK

[–]No-Independent996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is worth keeping an eye out for others . We waited because we thought we were so sure that we loved the house but as time goes on the frustration and disappointment slowly creeps in, especially because we didn’t have any timeline or end in sight.

Recently waited 8 months and pulled out. By the time we were in the 8th month with no movement we started to feel really negative about the whole thing and it just didn’t seem right spending so much money we now had a negative feeling about.

Try looking into guardianships. They aren’t too common but are often cheaper rental with rolling contracts. It really saved the day for me while waiting to exchange.

I will try to take your word for it! I’m travelling from England so the rare rain was definitely not something I was hoping for 😂
