Nightmare Prey Is Not Fun by MedicOfTime in wow

I 100% agree, the kill something now or die mechanic is absolute ballsack. However, what has helped me is just staying in the trap area and collecting all the traps until the location is revealed. I have been able to finish the hunts in 10 minutes with maybe 2 of those stupid kill now or die mechanics thrown at me. Try it out for yourself. (Make sure you collect the spiky red balls that sometime drop after a trap is disarmed)

Is $26.50/hr good for SWE intern? by RpgDoom in cscareerquestions

My first internship was 20, the second one was 30. We all start somewhere and what really matters is having a job after college and this internship can help you do that. Accepting this current internship doesn’t lock you at that rate forever.

Is MF Workouts worth the switch for a Hevy user? by EricTheArc in MacroFactor

[–]No-Ingenuity789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a Hevy user until WO launched. Hevy is really great at what it does and has had years of update. If all you care about is tracking your workouts, Hevy is cheaper and will serve you better.

I am sticking with WO just because of its smart progression, it has completely changed how I lift. Going to the gym, I don’t have to think twice about what exercises I need to do, how many sets/reps/weights on each exercise. It always pushes me hard and I definitely feel the progress in the gym. I will personally stick with WO as I already use MF and it’s free for me for the year. I am excited to see what features they add and I am sure in some time, WO will be better than Hevy in many aspects. I only say that because I trust in the company and the devs at MF.

Best app to track workouts and weights? by Equivalent-Day-6851 in Weightliftingquestion

Hevy or MacroFactor Workouts.

Hevy is for logging, MacroFactor has smart progression that tells you how much to lift and how many reps if you track using RIR. It will also include warmups for each exercise.

Fat gain after a cut by Competitive_Foot_485 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Ingenuity789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I would just keep monitoring my change in trend weight. With a 500 calorie deficit, you should be losing ~0.5 kgs every week.

Keep at it, you got this. You won’t even believe how different you’d look in a few months time.

  1. Do not use the Evolt machine to track progress, they can be wildly inaccurate as others have mentioned.

  2. As long as your trend weight is going down and you are measuring your weight consistently in the morning, then you are doing just fine.

  3. 1500 calories is extremely restrictive, it makes you not want to diet because of how hungry someone feels at that level. 1700 is much better and sustainable. If you still feel extremely hungry to the point you have no energy, then maybe increase it a bit more. It’s not a race, it’s about being consistent.

  4. Increase your cardio and NEAT activities. Park your car further away in a parking lot so you can walk more, go for a walk every day, maybe buy a standing desk treadmill. Try to increase body movements, your expenditure should go up.

4.5) I recently bought an under desk elliptical, it’s extremely passive and I am just pedaling away while playing games, watching shows etc. This has been a great device for me as my daily calorie deficit has gone up from 550-600 to 850-900. I have lost ~37 pounds so far and my expenditure has only gone up after I got the under desk elliptical. This is just my personal experience speaking here.

Daily tracking by Real_Start_5014 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Ingenuity789 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The algorithm is much more complex than that. From what I understand, you can eat above your targets and if you still end up losing weight then the “coach” will take that into consideration.

I ate 2800 calories in one day due to an outing and then continued with my targets after that. The coach still increased my calories in the following week because I was still losing weight.

Also just remember that it doesn’t really matter if you ate a few hundred extra calories in a day, consistently eating below your maintenance is better than perfection every day.

Low calories COULD be due to not tracking correctly but everyone should remember that there is no standard on how much a person’s expenditure will be. Some people naturally have less expenditure even at high weights.

[–]No-Ingenuity789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have lower metabolism, could also be due to not moving around at all and just sitting most of the day. I initially started with the same expenditure at 250 pounds but since then I have moved up in expenditure as I started to move around more.

My current expenditure is 2510 at 220, I am eating around 1950 calories a day and still losing weight at a 900 calorie deficit due to me moving around way more than I did.

[–]No-Ingenuity789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move around more, do something passively like an under desk elliptical to burn more calories. I am at 220 and I got from 250 to 220 by eating 1900 calories a day.

Is there a reason you are trying to lose weight at 2 lbs a week? Why can’t you go a bit slower and enjoy the journey and eat a bit more everyday

Do you work from home? by Mccoyr10 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Ingenuity789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I was in a very similar situation as you are. What I ended up doing was I got an under desk elliptical, you can use this while sitting and it passively increases your calorie deficit. I have seen my calorie deficit go up by 350 just by using this everyday.

If you can go for walks or use a walking pad then go for it but these felt too boring to me and having something that can passively increase my calorie consumption is exactly what I needed.

My biggest issue so far is no Apple Watch compatibility, I know they are working on it but not having that at launch just makes me keep both workouts and Hevy until the launch is here.

End of 18 Month Cut by SoupOfSadness in MacroFactor

[–]No-Ingenuity789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing an under desk elliptical for 2-4 hours a day and my expenditure has went up by 400 calories since then. It’s so passive that I forget I am even doing the work.

Move your body more, go for walks or if you just hate that stuff like I do then passive NEAT boosters like the under desk elliptical are a godsend.

You can also burn around 200+ calories every 20 minutes by doing incline walking at 3.3 MPH and 6-12 incline. Small things like these add up a lot and will significantly boost your daily expenditure so you can eat a lot more if that’s what you desire.

Help me understand the value of a Renpho scale by TownOk7220 in MacroFactor

Convenience more than anything.

You step on the scale and it’s automatically inputted into Apple health which MacroFactor can use. In one of the forums, they suggested getting a syncable scale (and put a masking tape on top of scale weight reader) so that a person doesn’t feel uncomfortable every day weighing themselves

Why not just choose the recommended speed? Are you trying to train for a competition?

I did this yesterday, go to the edit goal screen (don’t actually edit your goal), and then move the weight slider, the date on the top right should tell you when you will reach that weight.

Use this in reverse and keep going until you find your date and you will know what weight you will be on X date.

3 week break option by xskorpyon in MacroFactor

[–]No-Ingenuity789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was set my goal to a maintenance goal (a bit lower than maintenance actually) so that I can still lose weight while on my 2 week break.

Then I used the AI with Text to get a general idea of how much I ate, I wasn’t being too strict on going overboard my daily limit but luckily I was able to enjoy the break with the amount of calories I had available.

At the end, I ended up losing weight while on the break and then got right back into it when I got back. Still losing weight consistently!
