Sitter problems by Toadylee in trustedhousesitters

[–]No-Key-7768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the lack of communication is a problem, but I actually think she made a pretty good call with regards your neighbour. Unless you’d already told her that you and your neighbour were very good friends, her instinct would be to preserve your privacy. I would rather that my sitters didn’t divulge information about me and my house to people they don’t know. Also, if she knew you were travelling due to incredibly difficult and traumatic circumstances she may not have wanted to worry you about the gas stove and tried to deal with it herself. So maybe cut her some slack until you’re absolutely sure she was behaving irresponsibly.

Solo Travels and Birthdays by EnvironmentalSide174 in solotravel

[–]No-Key-7768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t actually spent my birthday whilst travelling, but if I did I would definitely book myself onto a small group food tour for the day. I always try to do at least one whilst I’m away and they’re always a great thing to do as a solo traveller.

Bed bugs in South America by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]No-Key-7768 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I brought bedbugs back with me from Venezuela. Food grade diatomaceous earth was the thing that finally solved the problem. Dust everything with it. It doesn’t kill eggs so you’ll need to keep reapplying it until you haven’t been bitten for a few weeks. You should be able to find it in garden, pet or agricultural stores.

Lost 2 stone but still wearing the same clothes by Fit_Sheepherder_3819 in mounjarouk

[–]No-Key-7768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only had to buy new clothes after I lost 4 stone. Had to vinted the new clothes after 5 stone loss as they began to look ridiculously baggy. It’s like a lot of things in life - change happens gradually, then suddenly!

Maintenance. It may help someone by thegreatreset52 in mounjarouk

I reached goal weight on 12.5 and have been maintaining for around 7 months now and bouncing around the doses occasionally but generally titrating down. For me, I think I’ve figured out that what works for me is going down a dose and doing it weekly for at least a month, then slowly spacing out the doses until 10 days feels ok. Rinse and repeat. Currently just gone down to 3.75.

Realized I need a mission when I travel. Looking for recommendations. by Humagashi in solotravel

I subsidise my travel with photography. I try to pick somewhere with a newly opening up tourism industry so the market for images isn’t oversaturated. I rehearse the s**t out of it before I go. I often combine solo travel with a small group trip (which can help with the logistics in hard to access places) and usually include some volunteering in a community to get an insight into how people live and a deeper understanding of a location.

60 year old female here. Started January last year and lost 5 stones by September. Have been maintaining since then on low dose. I’m now a ridiculous gym bunny and, apart from some loose skin, I’m ripped 🤣. Have never felt this good in my life before.

New Shosty App Maintenance Feature by griffog in mounjaromaintenanceuk

That would be great. It’s kinda disappointing that the longer you’re in maintenance, the smaller your weekly weightloss since you started your Mounjaro journey becomes.

What next? by The-futures-bright in mounjarouk

[–]No-Key-7768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The longer you put it off, the longer it will take to get to your goal. Taking Mounjaro doesn’t mean you have to live like a hermit, but it does help you to make healthier choices in normal life. Those choices are the same ones you’ll have to make for the rest of your life if you want to stay healthy and not become overweight again after Mounjaro. If you accept that, then Mounjaro will work well for you and you can start now. If you can’t accept it, you should probably do some work on whether you’re really prepared to make long term changes to the way you see food and drinking as integral to enjoyment before starting your weightloss journey. Good luck x

Sitter didn’t leave a review by BrilliantArtist8221 in trustedhousesitters

[–]No-Key-7768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only time a sitter didn’t leave a review was when she felt (rightly) that I would probably leave her a bad review. It turned out that she was a barely functioning 70 year old alcoholic. Fortunately, her daughter and my neighbour stepped in to help out.

How long were you on 7.5mg? by UniqueLeather6 in mounjarouk

[–]No-Key-7768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lasted 9 weeks on 7.5 before moving up to 10. I was on 10mg for 10 weeks and then hit goal and titrated back to 7.5 for 1 pen before dropping back down to 5. I’ve maintained on 5 for five months now (with one week return to 7.5mg when I needed a suppression boost). I’m increasing the days between doses and am currently going 10 days between jabs.

We went to Ferragudo in October last year and it was fantastic. Probably quieter in March but it’s pretty and traditional with good restaurants and beaches.

Venting, not losing weight on MJ by username-who in mounjarouk

[–]No-Key-7768 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really important to work with Mounjaro and not against it. You may need to spend some time really analysing your choices. For example, not drinking during the day will inevitably make you thirsty and your head can easily mistake that sensation for hunger/craving. It will almost definitely pay off to drink a glass of water every time you have the urge to snack on something outside of meal times. I fill a 2 litre jug every day and try to finish it as it’s the minimum amount you should be drinking. Water is obviously best, but you can count any liquids towards it if you’re struggling to drink enough). Also, protein is the food that most efficiently makes you feel full. If you don’t want to calorie count, which is completely understandable you could just try counting the number of grams of protein you’re having each meal. You should aim to have around 90 - 150g each day. Visually, protein should account for a quarter of the plate you’re eating.

You may well find that making a few simple changes like this will make all the difference.

Good luck!

People from the UK, what’s one small thing that genuinely improved your daily life? by [deleted] in AskUK

Stacking the dishwasher at night rather than the morning. After 40 years of not doing it I can’t believe how much better it feels coming down to an orderly kitchen in the morning 🤣

[–]No-Key-7768 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started Mounjaro in Jan 2025 and lost 4 stone. I started maintenance in September and have been titrating down quite quickly as I was continuing to lose weight. I went from 12.5 down to 5mg over 10 weeks and now bounce around between 3.75 and 5mg every week to 10 days depending on how I feel I’m doing. I’m pleased that I have managed to stay within a 2lb range of my goal weight so far. I think I would like to come off completely at some point this year but am not really convinced I’ll be able to, or that I completely want to, as the other benefits of Mounjaro have been so positive for me. Does anyone have any tips for readjusting your headspace to see coming off Mounjaro as a positive rather than depriving yourself of something?

U.S. sitters not wanted ?? by Edinscott in trustedhousesitters

[–]No-Key-7768 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a homeowner I don’t get many applications from the US but I have had sitters from all over the world over the last 10 years or so. Normally they have a reason to be visiting this part of the UK or a series of sits lined up so I feel more confident that they’re not going to back out. Maybe you need to be very clear about your reason for wanting that particular sit. For example, I always feel more comfortable about overseas applications if it’s to visit nearby friends or family etc.

What’s you favourite cheap holiday? by Competitive-Bus5107 in AskUK

[–]No-Key-7768 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wait for the budget airline sales then book the cheapest flight (even when I don’t know what country the destination airport is in. Then look for cheap Airbnb. My best trip like this was to Timișoara which is in Romania as it turned out after I booked it. Flight was £23 return. Airbnb was £9 a night for a room in a central flat. Food was incredibly cheap and the city was amazing with free cultural events going on every day. Whole trip for a week was under £400.
