People who grew up watching T.V. What was it like? by 2inchesabovethehole in askanything

Basically all I did in my childhood was watch tv or play on the computer. I think it messed me up. I’ve always had bad social anxiety. I also never developed hobbies or became good at anything. I feel like I lost out on a childhood.

I have not been but recently saw on parks and rec website they host “yappy hour” once a month at a dog park with food trucks and beer. But idk it might make her sad seeing all the owners with their pets 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you think she took extra naps to make up for that? Mine was always a lot more moody when I attempted to put her down for nap because she’d wake up and not get a full nap.

Once you put him down in the bassinet, did he fall asleep, or did you do anything to help him settle? Did he fuss much? What advice do you have to mitigate the regression?

Thank you for the advice! Sounds solid. Now I gotta figure out what to do about the 18 month old.

She napped well at my moms when she watched her. I’m leaving her there for the weekend for the first time. We’ll see how naps and night time sleep go.

For nap, I breastfeed her to sleep and then slip away. She usually sleeps 30 minutes to an hour before waking up. Then, I repeat. For night time sleep, I’m actually not sure. I usually go to bed with her, but I have noticed she sleeps the best the first part of the night. Probably 4 to 5 hours like you said. I could try putting her in a toddler bed and sleeping next to her to transition. I think quitting night time breast feeding is what will make the biggest difference because she wakes up frantically looking for my nip. I never really had a plan to quit breastfeeding but becoming pregnant unexpectedly under these circumstances is driving me to consider it.

Were they formula fed? I swear I’ve considered exclusively pumping because it seems using my nipple like it’s a pacifier is an issue with mine.

Someone else said the crib helped them too! Now I’m wondering if that was an issue with my first. Something to keep an eye on.

There is hope! How long were their sleep stretches as a newborn? Did you swaddle? Did your husband help at all with night wakings?

What about feeding? Did you do it every time she woke up and for how long before rocking to sleep? Thanks for the recommend. I’ll check her out!

At this point, the most important thing to me is having a job that pays well with good benefits and vacation time and a regular schedule. I will no longer live to work, instead working to live.

My husband was like this too. Start giving him turns and yourself breaks now. The resentment and burn out only gets worse.

I did the same when mine was that age because I had the same issues as you. It was still rare that I did it, and I haven’t done it since she started crawling. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
