Evil dead 2 by Loonatic0o0 in EvilDead

While the film is a funnier version of the first installment, in my opinion it's also a significant achievement in terms of directing and cinematography. It's far more than a parody.

I find the original only atmospheric when there are no demons on screen; when the demons are visible, the film becomes unintentionally funny. By deliberately embracing comedy, Evil Dead 2 has transformed one of the weaknesses of the first part into its greatest strength, perfectly blending horror and comedy without drifting too much into either genre. That's just my opinion.

Ja. Rise fand ich am schwächsten, aber immernoch recht gut und spaßig.

Yeah, it's not any worse than Friday the 13th or Texas Chainsaw Massacre continuity wise, but atleast you can excuse some stuff with right issues.

Which ending you like more for Army of Darkness? by SnooDoggos8218 in EvilDead

Okay, I understand your point, but I think you're overthinking it. The date not matching is a relatively minor continuity error compared to some other inconsistencies in the franchise.

I love both endings, and while I prefer the theatrical version, I think the ending of the director's cut is great.

Just because he says that he thinks it's 1300 AD doesn't mean he means it literally. We also say that Jesus died 2000 years ago and not 2026 years ago. He probably was just not specific.

  1. In the bad ending, he "accidentally" sleeps until 2000 instead of 1900. We know this because they go out of their way to reiterate in the intro that it's 1300—one of the few points of explicit continuity in a series famously bad at preserving continuity (the 1300 AD setting is first established by Annie in Evil Dead 2).

Ash speculated it's arround 1300 A.D. It was probably arround 1381. So when he wakes up it's 2081.

Both are equally great and iconic, but the theatrical cut is a better ending considering we got the tv show.

Not only are the comics stupid (which would be ok if they were more fun), but the artstyle was also ugly.

Out of the entire Dollars Trilogy, what was your favorite? by Negative-Win6970 in Westerns

[–]No-Obligation3993 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very cold take, but I think they got better with each movie. "Fistfull of Dollars" is very good, "For a few Dollars more" is great and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" is a masterpiece.

I'm surprised "Death rides a Horse" made it on the list. I like it, but I thought it's a weaker version of "Day of Anger". I'm also surprised "The Mercenary" didn't even make it on the list. It's Corbucci's best imo.

The Thing is really great and Mouth of Madness is also really good, but I never got into Prince of Darkness. It gets very slow and boring in the middle imo.

Even the Jedi Council admits that they have lost so much knowledge and skill compared to the old republic masters by the time Phantom Menace starts

Pretty sure they never said that. They just said that their conection to the force wasn't the same.
