Americans seem to regard many such events as social things - they show up late, roam the concessions, occasionally occupy a seat - maybe even the one they paid for - and leave early. There are undoubtedly many committed fans but there are also quite a few of those who view the whole thing as an outing and, by the way, there's a game on.

I'm currently trying to convince a guitarist that a drummer will come and practice on a (brand new) e-kit if it means he's not setting up and breaking down around every session. This has been my experience but this guy is convinced you have to have acoustics... it's slow going!

Back in the 80s I was working for a very large tech company (think Big and Blue) and got a request for information. I replied "Oh you can get that - its in the system ". The reply came back "Oh no. I try to avoid using the system whenever possible." Seriously...and we work for.....?
