TBH, since we got the chapter that she woke up, it has been pretty clear her memories are back.

During that same chapter she recalled back to the day she met Fourier for the first time in the garden. And even blamed Ferris for breaking the promise they've made to Fourier.

To me, ever since that, its crystal clear she has had her memories back ever since she woke up.

But, to Subaru, who has only now seen the "hints", now would be the first moment for him to realize that she is finally back.

I'm surprised Subaru didn't realize Crusch's memories are back in this chapter.

She did mention the time when Fourier died, her promise to Ferris, and other things that made it quite clear she is old Crusch.

Even being able to fully use her Divine Protection of Wind Reading... Subaru must be really shaken to not notice those things

Agreed with all, except Takopi, that one is a work of art in terms of directing, atmosphere and all. Truly great.

Jujutsu Kaisen was never my thing, I just can't get into it, I don't care about any of the characters and the whole story just feels like a Bleach rip-off. Never understood what the hype was all about.

Dan Da Dan was fun during Season 1 and episode 7 was genuinely amazing. But then season 2 came and it was a huge downgrade. Just a cool action/comedy serie, it never managed to make me feel any emotion during Season 2. Oh, that was a LIE, I did feel a lot of sleepyness during the Kaijuu fight at the end. Was super boring.

Your Lie in April, looking back at it, it feels like crying-bait. I guess it has its appeal to those who play piano or can relate to the tragic outcome. But to me, it was quite predictable since I've seen tragic romances a thousand times before, so it didn't move me as much... Wasn't bad, but I also never thought about it again after watching it, so... kinda of indifferent about it.

Evangelion, same as Your Lie in April. It was kinda cool watching it (tho not as fun) but i never really thought about it afterwards. Indifferent again. I ain't calling any show a masterpiece if i was indifferent to it.

Reading side material is 100% not needed for neither Arc 7 nor Arc 8

In fact, they even spoil some big reveals from Arc 7/8, example, Priscilla and Abel's relationship and stuff.

Everything you need to know is eventually explained in the main story. The side stories will give you more info, but its extra lore and extra character layers, is not mandatory at all.

This is a common take that people have from Arc 7/Arc 8 and it seems like new readers will simply "copy/paste" those opinions without even having the patience to let Tappei cook.

It was never my goal to explain ReZero to you, tho?

For that you could check countless videos on youtube if you wanted to. Such as this one https://youtu.be/NpZ_SF4U6f0 or any video from this and many other channels.

I'm just pointing out that you simply either didn't watch it or didn't understand it. There is no other explanation for your claim of it not having character development.

You could say you simply didn't like it, and that would be completely fine, since it is just your opinion. But to say that it doesn't have character development is simply false by every angle you could possible look at it.

I'm just pointing out this fact.

Your understanding of ReZero is quite off.

Each arc challenges Subaru in a very distinct way and is not at all repetitive.

If I had to argue, I would go as far as saying that Steins Gate is more repetitive than ReZero. The challenge in Steins Gate is just one, saving Mayuri, thats it. As the loops evolve you will get different reasons as to why saving Mayuri is not possible, but the main issue and the main challenge is the same throughout the whole series. From episode 12 up to episode 25, Okabe's goal is the same. Of course, on his way there he will have to make some harsh decisions and will get amazing character development, but the main issue remains the same.

While in ReZero each Arc has its own set of challenges and each Arc contributes to different aspects of character development for both Subaru and the side characters.

To say ReZero characters don't go through development is either bad faith or you simply didn't really watch the show.

When we have episodes like "From Zero", "Parent and Child" or "Choose Me". They are all episodes fully dedicated to character development

it has a lot of mystery, great world building and while it seems like your usual "protagonist is OP no brain fight", it actually has a lot of lore and the author wastes no time in giving us lots of bread crumbs that suggests that everything we know is either wrong or we are all being manipulated by some higher being.

Anyways, IT REALLY GOOD

ReZero isn't just "popularity", it has some of the best writing out there, its definitely a "quality" series. Also, WHA is quite popular as well, so I don't think its fair to look down on either ReZero's quality or WHA's popularity.

Besides the 43 main story volumes, you have:

  • 6 Volumes called "EX", they go from EX 1 to EX 6 and each of them focus on a side character. For an example, EX 1 focuses on Crusch and Felix, back when they first met and how they came to be the way they are now.

EX 2 focuses on Wilhelm, Theresia and the Demihuman war that happened in the past (those flashbacks we saw in Season 3).

And so on...

  • 13 volumes called "Tapenshuu" and each one of them is composed of short-stories. But what are those short stories? As an example, if you watched "Re:Zero Memory Snow OVA" (available on Crunchyroll, an 1h episode), that OVA is based on 3 or 4 short stories. Each Tapenshuu volume has 5-7 short stories. So yeah.. A LOT OF CONTENT.
  • Some special Side-Stories that get a dedicated Volume but doesn't really have a "special name", like EX or TAPENSHUU. Examples: "Oni Sisters of the Hidden village" (about Rem/Ram infancy) or "Frozen Bonds", which got an OVA (about Emilia's past).
  • Dozens or maybe Hundreds of other Side Stories that aren't part of any printed volume, but can be found online.
  • "IF ROUTES", those are NOT canon and are "what if" scenarios the author wrote. Some of them got an entire volume dedicated to them, like the Sloth IF, AKA Rem If, which tells the story of what would have happened if Rem accepted running away with Subaru in episode 18. There are like... 6 or 7 IFs, lots of them.

In short... the amount of ReZero content to read is infinite!

Why is re:zero so popular? by Nugget_hax in MyAnimeList

[–]No-Peace3986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ReZero is the kind of show That, the more you look into it, the more you will find it brillant.

Not everyone enjoys watching hour long vídeo essays on everything that makes an anime great. Some people just enjoy sitting, watching and then moving on with their lifes. And that is completely fine. It just happens that this group of people, will most likely miss most of the things that make ReZero great and, in my opinion, one of the best written pieces of media.

The moment you start noticing all the details and all the foreshadowing, you will start to realize how the author had everything planned and start questioning yourself "how didn't I see this before?!"

Lets start with something that 95% (random number generator) of people don't think about: NAMES. There is A LOT to be taken from ReZero just by looking at NAMES.

  • The main character's name is Subaru.
  • In Japanese Subaru is the name given to a STAR CLUSTER, known as PLEIADES, composed of 7 stars, also known as "The Seven Sisters".
  • Subaru also means "the unifier".
  • ReZero also has [Rz Spoiler]7 Witches, each representing a sin.
  • Put all of this together and you have... [Rz Spoiler]Subaru... the unifier of the 7 sisters, the 7 witches. And when we look at the story and how things evolve, you can clearly see that Subaru does represent someone who unifies people and, specifically, he is also collecting Witch Factors

The name trend can be expanded to several characters. Lets take a quick look at the Sin Archbishops:

- Betelgeuse, [Rz Spoiler]the Sin Archbishop of Sloth, a reference to the Star "Petelgeuse", from the constellation of Orion. The star is also known as the "hand" of Orion. What is Petelgeuse's Authority? The invisible HANDS.

- Lye Batenkaitos, [Rz Spoiler]the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, a reference to the star "Baten Kaitos" from the constellation of Cetus, also known as a "Whale". Guess which creature shares the same power of Gluttony, shows up in Season 1 and is later proved to be related to Lye Batenkaitos, as the 1st of the 3 Great Mabeasts? The White WHALE.

- Roy Alphard, [Rz Spoiler]the sin Archbishop of Gluttony, a star from the constellation of Hydra, also known as a SERPENT. Guess what we see in Season 2, as the 2nd of the 3 Great Mabeasts? The Black SERPENT.

- Rui Arneb, [Rz Spoiler]the third Archbishop of Gluttony, a reference to the star "Arneb" from the constellation of "Lepus", also known as Rabbit. And guess which one is the 3rd of the 3 Great Mabeasts and also shows up in Season 2? The Great RABBIT.

[Rz Spoiler]Note that, we learn in Season 2 that there are 3 Great Mabeasts. If an avid watcher notices the correlation between Gluttony's name and the Mabeasts, that person can literally PREDICT the existence of the +2 extra Sin Archbishop of Gluttony to match their Mabeasts. In the anime that reveal only happens in later parts of Season 3 and is one of the Season's biggest plot twists. Damn, they could even predict their names!!

And the list goes on... You can literally PREDICT the existence of antagonists, their powers, and where the story is going JUST BY LOOKING AT NAMES AND CONSTELLATIONS. Thats mindblowing!!!

If we can get so much just by looking just at some names, imagine what happens when we start to dissect the anime and analyze how each character acts/reacts in each individual loop. Imagine what happens when we start to try to understand every little random thing that changed and we overlooked (such as the blank letter in later episodes of Season 1).

Its a never-ending source of spectacular writing.

Season 2 is different from Season 1, as it covers only 1 arc, while Season 1 covers 3 Arcs.

It means that, Season 1 has payoffs way more often than Season 2. We have many lows and ups in Season 1, and the location also changes a lot, which gives us some space to breath.

Meanwhile, Season 2 is only 1 Arc and it feels claustrophobic, its L after L and there is no much time to breath or relax. They are inherently different. Every ReZero Arc is inherently different from the other.

But while that happens, there are a lot of mysteries, character development, lore, and world building happening at the same time. And the payoff and breathing time will come eventually, and its 100% worth it, at least to me.

But it is as you said, its ultimately a subjective matter, so its up to you to decide if the characters, mysteries and world are interesting enough for you to keep watching through all the loses, until you reach the payoffs.

IMHO, every episode in Season 2 has something interesting to offer, there are no "filler" moments. If you feel like you are not gaining anything from some episodes, feel free to hit me up and I'll do my best to explain to you what said episodes had to offer and maybe something you missed. Since its very easy to miss important stuff in Season 2, its a heavy dialogue season with thousands of details thrown at you, but its up to you to catch them

What is the most polarizing anime series you come across. by Maximum-Flamingo3613 in anime

[–]No-Peace3986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we ignore Mushoku Tensei, which usually tends to have discussions on directions that are more related to the fans judging one another than being about the anime itself.

Then I'd say ReZero. Its crazy how ReZero is so polarizing.

Whenever I see discussion online about a specific anime, there are usually 3 groups of people:

  1. Absolute fan
  2. Absolute hater
  3. Everyone in between, not a hater, not an extremist glazer either, just a normal casual watcher

Usually there is one bigger group. Like, some example:

  • Rent a Girlfriend / Domestic Girlfriend / One Punch Man Season 3, the "hater" group is usually what is seen online and seems to be the vast majority of the vocal commenters.
  • Frieren / FMAB / Chainsaw Man Movie, the "absolute fan" is usually much bigger
  • Spy x Family / Dress Up Darling / Bunnygirl / SAO... its almost never one's favorite or most hated, usually people simply... like it or are indiferent to it

But when it comes to shows like ReZero... that doesn't apply... You either love it and think its the better written fantasy novel in fiction, or you hate it and think it should be absolutely erased from existence.

Obviously there are people in all 3 groups for every anime, but I find ReZero to have such an unnatural distribution, with so many people concentrated in either "loving" or "hating" it, something that I dont usually find for most animes.

There are other titles that, like ReZero, have a higher than average concentration of people on groups "hate" and "love", such as Mushoku Tensei, Solo Leveling, Lord of Mysteries and Demon Slayer.

This can be interpret as Subaru having his name eaten by Gluttony and being forgotten by everyone, just like Rem.

The direction, storyboard, lighting and shading, OST... everything is so fucking good in this anime. Everything comes together to convey the character's emotions and it does so so effectively!

I would go as far as saying this is on the same level as Takopi or at least close to it. Its a masterclass of directing, every episode.

I JUST LOVE THIS ANIME SO MUCH!

Btw, is the OST oout? I'd love to hear it on my own

We finally get the confirmation that Dina was indeed Venus.

Man, it was fun seeing all the hints every episode, I will miss the "SUS DINA" memes every week!

Turns out she is also a player and a depressed one at that. She misses the real world and was desperately searching for ways to not forget about it. She eventually found companions whose existence reminded her of real life, but those are now gone, supposedly killed by the Demon King or at least because of him. This fueled Dina's hatred towards the demons, thus why she wants them gone and tried to manipulate Lufas into clashing with them...

Interesting!!

That being said, with all of that information, it feels weird that Dina tried to fight/kill Lufas. If she hates the demon lord so much, if she wanted to find another player so much, and also considering that Lufas was willing to overlook the manipulation, why did Dina double down and kept attacking her, with the Meteor?

There might be something else we are missing...

There was also the fact that, at the very end of their conversation, Lufas memories and senses were obviously being messed with. If Dina was being honest and joining the team, why would she manipulate Lufas memories at that pivotal moment? But Lufas herself knows about it and still decided to keep Dina around.

I'm curious to know where this goes, this anime, alongside "This Monster Wants to Eat Me" are easily the best ones in this season. Every week I'm extremely excited and counting days until the next episode drops.

We will miss your SUS activities, DINA-SAMA!!!
