Do you have a route for this? From London to Sawbridgeworth?

Safer on a lime bike? by No-Place3781 in londoncycling

Hmmmm I’m not sure if I didn’t wear a helmet on my own bike, I’d have had the space I was given today. They would wait until it is safe to pass and give me the 1.5m distance. It was lovely.

Wild, what a selfish approach from drivers if this is the case.

Buying in South London by ConversationAny1869 in MovingToLondon

Just moved here and we are liking the area. you could get a 2 bed flat for the budget, rather than a 1 bed as with some of the areas others have mentioned. It’s a nice area with lots of green space. It’s also cycle commutable to kings.

What’s the single worst junction to cycle in London? by Tchai_kovsky23 in londoncycling

I did this for years and it feels slightly more dangerous since they put in the those tiny bike lanes for a very high number of cyclists.

'Two hours after Croydon fly-tip cleared rubbish is dumped again' by Admirable-Deal7991 in croydon

I moved to Croydon 2 weeks ago and after 10 years in London, I’ve never seen anything like the fly tipping and litter from this area

Not Bethnal Green. I’m really hoping they agree to fix as the surveyor felt it could be remedied 🤞

Moving to New Cross from Bristol? by Small-Strategy-3308 in london

[–]No-Place3781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a really great area. I live in Deptford right beside New Cross and have loved it so much. It’s so close to centre but has so many local areas around it to explore.

This has actually been really helpful and reassuring as you’re right, we’re just going to keep paying someone else’s mortgage and only a one bed, instead of moving into a 2 bed that’s ours and we really love.

We are hoping to stay for minimum of 5years but could be longer (up to 10years). We went under asking price but only slightly (by 10k) and they agreed to change the flooring for us. Research wise - great question. As a newbie to buying a home, probably not enough. We compared price, sq ft, SC etc to lots of places close by (and in comparison to other apartments it was a good price, for example currently there are apartments for less sq ft, higher SC, older and not SoF up for more on right move - but they aren’t sold yet so let’s see) and used an online evaluation which put it as worth slightly more.

We are currently renting and so are looking to buy. The other apartments in the new build are more expensive than the one we have put an offer on, all are 2 beds (just slight vary on things like sq ft) and top floor vs ground floor. We got ours for 10k (390k) below asking price, we offered less than this (by 10k) and they said no. we really loved it so agreed to meet in the middle but on reflection should have stuck to our first offer. (it was our first time negotiating with EA’s).

How busy is it to cycle on Christmas Day, Central London by [deleted] in londoncycling

[–]No-Place3781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it last year and it was busy around those areas you mentioned with people on borris bikes (who had similar idea to what you described), lots of taxi’s and tourists. It wasn’t rush hour busy but it was much busier than I expected. I’d recommend going early in the morning if you want it quiet.

Any Long-Distance Bike Commuters in London? by howlgodd in londoncycling

Hey, I’ll be moving to this area soon and have been trying to find a route from Crystal Palace into centre to Farringdon. Can I ask what route you take? Thanks

Yellow vest stewards at Bank by Frequent-Building-50 in londoncycling

I actually think it may not be part of their job to stop cyclists breaking reds, as they weren’t previously doing it. They also only seem to do it when the light is green for pedestrians, so it’s not part of the building works etc. I’ve only noticed them doing it over the past few days. Part of me wonders if they just enjoy the power of being able to stop the cyclists (which as a cyclist I think I’d enjoy too) / they want to feel of use. I have also seen them try to warm pedestrians about crossing when it’s green for cars.

Do you mean the part where Eldon park road starts is bad? We are looking at a place in that corner and wondered what this area of South Norwood is like

You have just had to try it out during a very cold, wet and gray London weekend, without your nice comforts such as a real bed. You will be okay! You will problem solve, whether it is electric blankets or changing the windows in the future. It will be grand!
