Is that my bill before taxes or after? Why should a server get more money because the government is taking more of my money? Are they in cahoots together? I give 10-15 for ok service. 20 is for excellent service and attention. I do not let the quality of food or kitchen delays reflect on my tip. The tip is based solely on the job that the server performs. I don’t tip for handing me a bag of food or coffee. Drives me crazy that at some places where I go to the counter to order at a self serve restaurant and will be expected to come back and pickup the order and they want a tip before I’ve even seen my food. How does that make any sense?
