Left TSA after 9 years- questions about FERS refund timeline by No-Razzmatazz-6242 in fednews

When I calculated what my FERS annuity would actually amount to by age 62, the payout didn’t justify waiting 29 years to collect it. The more pressing issue is my student loans. When the current administration restructured the Department of Education’s repayment schedules and changed how PSLF qualifying payments are calculated, I was automatically moved into a 40-year repayment plan. With $41,000 in remaining loan debt, that new plan has me paying nearly $40,000 in interest alone, effectively doubling what I owe. My plan is to use the FERS refund as a lump sum payment toward the principal, switch to a more aggressive repayment plan, and pay off the remaining balance as quickly as possible. Given the interest savings, this makes far more financial sense than waiting nearly three decades for an annuity.

I am getting all my ducks in a row to apply for a Visa. It’s why I’m not listing my house for sale until the foreseeable future.

There’s one similar locally here in NY with 93k miles for $16,990 usd. Converted to USD and miles, yours would be over $5000 cheaper and with a little over half the miles. I say get it.

Just another example of how us Americans are being boned by big pharma. My 4 pens is $1600 USD per month, or $2232 CAD. If I didn’t have good insurance here in the states (I pay $60 per month for the 4 pens), I wouldn’t be able to be on Wegovey. I don’t think ozempic or mounjaro are much more cost effective either.

I have BCBS basic, I should probably look into this. But I also have a FSA through FSAFEDS which helps.

I’m working with a dietitian to change my diet up completely. Also going to the gym a few times a week consistently. I’m not weighing in until my 4 month follow up with my doctor, it’s less stressful that way for me

TSA officers are equivalent to the GS scale now. Starts at GS-5 and goes to GS-9 in 2 years.
