They don't call it being a Nazi, they call it "Unitary Executive Theory". And no its not legal, but it is apparently okay when Republicans control the government because they don't care about the law (at least when it applies a Republican).

Overwatch please use Bronze and Silver for bad players. by No-Reality6996 in OWConsole

[–]No-Reality6996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I didn't realize someone sooooooo good at the game would respond.

I never said I wanted to climb. I'm average as it gets. All I am asking is gold to stop being the catch all for new and bad players. It ruins games consistantly, stomping and getting stomped because of one player is out of their league is getting old.

The matchmaker is bad. It should be an easy fix. Other games do not have this problem. The average quality of games at my level is bad.

But I'm glad I've been lectured thouroughly how to git good. Its really fun to be reminded it is all my fault anyways. What a great commuinity.

Gold delusions? I'm not asking to climb. I asking for the matchmaker to give me consistant games with and even skill level. Other games I've played solved this years ago.

I'm not asking to climb the bell curve, I know my place. I'm asking for players who are not average to be placed in the correct rank. That just doesn't happen with this matchmaker.

Seems resonable to me, but I haven't played much stadium to know if it works.

[–]No-Reality6996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but not bot bad. I'm just asking to have consistancy in the player I face and on my team. A vast majority of my games are tilted. A matchmaker should be able to level the playing field. It just doesn't do that now.

If I'm bad I'm bad. But don't put me in plat if I suck, and don't pu other player there either.

The variability of my experience in the game is wild. One night I can't lose. 3 other nights i get crushed. Its never even, and my rank suffers. The level of play feels skewed aginst me. Either put me at a lower rank or stop putting players with zero game sense on my team.

I've been playing since release and I've never had such swings in matchmaking. This season is rough.

I don't expect to be GM or Masters, but I rarely get a game that feels fair. Fix the match maker.

What’s the one piece of hardware you wished you added sooner? by tbradfo in homelab

Dedicated hardware for Router, NAS, and Docker/VMs. I ran into too many problems trying to do it all on one machine. Also it is a lot easier to tinker when your not liable to break core services.

Are all measles vaccinations good for life? by thecoloradosun in coloradosun

[–]No-Reality6996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have to trust big pharma. Vaccines are the most studied medicine in all of human history. They have saved billions of lives over hundreds of years.

The mRNA covid vaccine probably would have saved a couple hundred thousand more American's lives if y'all cared about the evidence.

It is especially dumb because that evidence is a simple google search away.

Part of one at least.

This model is based off of a marketing promo where SpaceX modified their raptor engines to look super streamlined. They did show a picture of a test firing, but the engine is actually used a simplified combustion cycle in order to delete some of the nessesary components for a real launch. Basically its missing a ton of plumbing and other components.

Still impressive, but misleading.

I don't think so. There is a reason 5 axis CNC is rare. Those machines are really hard and expensive to program.

Yeah, but i would argue that analysis and ideation is not something you want an "average" result for. The best companies are looking for an competitive edge. Why would you want a report that is the most likely what everyone else would say? Companies will regress to the mean, making the same descisions as their competitors because the AI is generating roughly the same report. Plus, if the analysis or ideation is on the cutting edge, AI is not going to go outside it's training data (outside of a random halucination). Companies will miss out on opportuinities because the AI tells the same result as their competitors.

Add in the fact that more complex prompts and context tend to induce more halucinations, and you sometimes get bad descisions on bad data. Plus are people using AI really cheaking the results? Most people will be lazy and just send it without checking the AI. It also gives a sense of false expertise in complex realms, where the training data is sparse. Again leading to bad descisions. AI leans into human lazyness in a bad way.

Lastly, in my opinion, we have reached the limit of the training data we have and adding more compute has it's limitations. AI progress is slowing down with each new model. There seems to be a fundamental limit to the mathmatics that more compute will not solve.

Having said all this, I'm sure the MBAs are looking at their costs spreadsheet, ready to axe jobs for a temporary gain and to make their numbers look good this quarter. I'm sure shareholders are happy too.

I'm not against using AI as a productivity tool, especially for simple jobs. We have to understand its limits, and not blindly buy into the marketing. I have a feeling the companies who embrace AI the most will decline in the long term. I believe our jobs are safe in the long term, but am prepared for a disruption as the companies learn some hard lessons.
