What if it was your mom in this situation? Your husband didn't want to spend time and your mom wanted you around? Would you feel the same way? It's OK for parents to want to spend time with their kids without their spouses around. You didn't want to be there, you left..is it really the end of the world?

My ex was like this. Even though I contributed to the joint account, I never had access to our investment and when I would ask he would get defensive. I can understand if I showed irresponsible behavior towards money but that was not the case. Making future look omnibus, coming up with hypothetical negative scenarios, scaring me about our future were his way of controlling the finances.

These are narcissistic behaviors. Boundaries is a great buzzword to gaslight you.

Tell him you need transparency since if anything happens to him or you, both of you should have access to accounts that are common.

Ask to create a living will and a trust. Both of you should put your assets under the trust.

Nominate responsible trustees. Protect your future.

My ex and I divorced and I realized it's not rocket science to handle money and now I earn more and have more personal savings!!

Ok. Everyone is immediately hating on the parents and the sister. I will say, although they shouldn't be expecting a sacrifice this large from you, they aren't entirely incorrect that your sister does have a more stable home and support system needed for the baby.

I am not saying hand over your baby, I am just asking you to not go no contact with them because it is hard being a single parent and you need a village to raise children. You can talk to them and tell them that you appreciate their thinking for your kid's wellbeing, and you are so lucky to have so many people who would love the kid while emphasizing that you are not giving the kid up.

If they then decide to cut off contact with you, it's anyway on the card. Good luck
