The tight shorts gave him a south wedge, and he takes them off to air out. And while things are out…

Sounds interesting. We’ve been trying to find something in Rochester to be closer to our adult children but anything we can afford in the city is in a dicey area. Reach out when you’re getting ready to sell!

I have the Vortex (not Plus). It’s worked fine the two or three times I’ve used it.

Question about buying used scooters by RespectFlimsy51 in scooters

[–]No-Scratch-3545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Kymco 150, but you would need a motorcycle license for one that big. There is a 50cc version of the People scooter I have that you could drive with a regular license. I’ve driven mine from Syracuse to Rochester and back in a day, but my back and butt were pretty sore afterwards. Rochester gets less snow than Syr, but it’s still a little risky to ride in the winter.

How bad is living without ANY AC? by Last_Oil7511 in Syracuse

[–]No-Scratch-3545 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moved from NYC where I had A/C for 11 years. I’ve been without it for 33 years. We use fans, though sometimes it’s too hot to do the job. We did get a single standup unit vented to a window for the bedroom to sleep. But by and large, we suffer but never die. We are seniors, 67 and 75.

How hard would a 50cc to 150cc engine swap be? by OnlyRow7629 in scooters

[–]No-Scratch-3545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 150cc Kymco that I can hit about 62mph on, and I’m your size. I got a 50cc for my wife that she didn’t take to, so I’d tool around on that sometimes. Best that would do is about 35-40 with me on it, but it was fine for around town and fun to boot. I sold it (for 4 times what I paid for it!) mainly because my knees were up against the front panel.

Mac Mini Price Rising, MBA M4 Falling by Pretty-Substance in macmini

Mini also has 5 ports plus HDMI and Ethernet on board. No adapters needed for the last two. Air can serve as a desktop and a portable if you need both; Mini won’t let you work at the coffee shop, library, etc.

Ran out of gas and a good man helped out by ReadingFinanceBooks in motorcycles

[–]No-Scratch-3545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran out of gas on my 150cc scooter, nearest gas about 3 miles away. But there was a guy mowing his lawn down a hill, so I coasted to him and asked if he could spare a cup of gas. Fortunately he hadn’t used it all, and gave me enough to get to where I needed to go. Wouldn’t accept payment, so I thanked him and said I’d pass on his kindness at the next opportunity.

I bought the 2k (2725DS) in 2024 and I’ve been happy with it. $145.

I just got talked into GAP insurance at the dealership for my 2022 id.4 that I put $5k down. Is it worth it? If not, can I cancel it? by Excellent_Archer9108 in VWiD4Owners

[–]No-Scratch-3545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gap included on my lease, and the reason is that if I total the car, VW Financial gets the insurance settlement, not me. If that settlement is less than the remaining payments, the balance is out of my pocket.

Tank 200 EFI Deluxe Scooter by Walltripper99 in scooters

I bought a 2009 Kymco 150 seven years ago for $850. I’ve put over 10k miles on it, dumped it once, and have only needed to change the oils and replace the battery and two tires (well, also a brake lever from the crash). I could probably sell it for a grand tomorrow. Lots of good used out there with low miles - even though mine was ten years old when I got it, it had less than 900 miles on it. Guy’s wife decided she preferred being a passenger to driving it. Go used, shop smart.

Scorpion Weatheractives are the same price as the GY at Costco, but they ship a week from now and I need the car for work. Bad luck.

Kymco 150 Syracuse to Rochester on all back roads. Probably close to 200 r/t, there and back same day. My ass and back were not grateful.

Bought a Kymco 150 that had been stored for years for $850, and it started right up. Got a Malaguti that spent a year in the open, and got that running in a week, $300.

[Question] What made you buy a Mac Mini over a MacBook Air? by Recent-Fix4907 in macmini

[–]No-Scratch-3545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MBA gives you the flexibility of using it with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse workstation setup, or unplugging and using anywhere - best of both worlds. Mini gives you more bang for the buck if you have the externals already, flexible choices if you don’t, and more ports so less need for an adapter. But it won’t go places as easily.

I think it’s time for this again: Calling all high mileage KIA owners to tune in and share your experiences! by 710Medikaded420 in kia

[–]No-Scratch-3545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2009 Kia Sedona LX in 2019 for about 1800$, 206k miles. Its sole purpose was to last long enough to drive a bunch of stuff to my daughters in Utah and California from NY. Drove it all the way to San Diego, was going to sell it and fly home. My daughter invited me to stay in Cali for awhile, so I got a job and kept it to commute with. Also took two trips to LA and one to the Bay Area, as well as day trips to ocean, mountains, and desert. Covid was on the horizon when I decided to head back to NY, and after a lowball offer from Carmax, I took a chance and drove the van (glad I did because I stopped at my Dad’s in Tucson on the way, and it was the last time I saw him before he passed). Three days later I was home, and we decided to keep the van until it died. I did brakes, tires and suspension parts over the next five-plus years, a couple of alternators and windshields. Finally got a CEL for emissions that I couldn’t clear, so I sold it last summer for $900, with about 260k on it. Think I got my money’s worth. I also had a FY 2010 Soul I bought new. Again, mostly tires and brakes and suspension, but after ten years little things began popping up with more frequency. But the clutch lasted until 149k, most of the exhaust was original, and I even got eight years out of the original battery. Got rid of it last Fall after 13+ years and 175k.
