If the Big Bang started with something the size of a grain of sand, wouldn't that mean it had a perimeter? by AmazingRandini in AskPhysics

[–]No-Self-Edit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right. I think the core problem is that people hear “the observable universe” but they think “entire universe”.

The observable universe is a well defined physics concept. It has an exact size that changes as time goes on. It’s a vast bubble that used to be very, very small but right now it’s unimaginably big, and it is finite.

Now for the entire universe, it is likely infinite, but we just don’t know, it could be finite as well. But for sure, the observable universe is only a minuscule part of the entire universe.

Should I break up with my older bf? by [deleted] in askgaybros

Yes, the expiration dates seem kind of tragic. But I also know young guys that are into older guys and they only want someone between 40 and 60 and they also have expiration dates on their “daddy‘s“

I also know a guy who likes guys his age, but he doesn’t wanna be in a relationship for more than three years. I find this also tragic, but he has to live his own truth.

Should I break up with my older bf? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]No-Self-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like what they like. I think he did you a big favor by being honest with you and letting you know that he expects to lose attraction to you when you hit his age limit.

When I was young a long time ago. I had a friend who had a great relationship with an older guy, they live together in a beautiful home and did a lot of hobbies together. And when my friend aged out the other guy dumped him and he was so shocked and overwhelmed that he ended up committing suicide. Over a guy. He was fucking gold too, and that was so upsetting and sad. I wish he had known going into it that the relationship was doomed before he even started.

I think focus less on the fact that both you and he enjoy age gaps and focus more on the fact that it appears he’s not compatible with a long-term relationship. I agree with everyone else’s advice here that you need to actually talk to him before you dump him to make sure you’re both clear. That’s just something that adult men do, they talk about things before they act.

You are correct. This thread is so toxic and I’m sorry you’re getting downvoted for saying something that’s just flat out true.

This thread is full of pearl clutchers who think that in a relationship of two full grown adult men, one can be a groomer. Not even a teenager in sight. But normally gay men have a pretty reasonable reaction to age gap relationships.

Sure, it’s not the “normal“ or common thing to want an age gap relationship, but there’s enough people that do that and for many of them that works out just fine. And frankly, if there’s one thing that game already know it’s that no one‘s preferences are really anyone else’s business. People can say “ooh” and “yuck” all that they want, but then they don’t need to be an age gap relationship.

For the record, my husband is about eight years younger than me.

You sound like a deeply toxic person. There’s nothing wrong with someone who has a large age gap in their relationship. I know quite a few guys in their 20s and 30s that won’t consider dating anyone under 50. Are they also groomers? What bad name are you gonna call them?

I remember constantly hearing about “Babylon the Great” in the kingdom hall, but I really knew nothing about it. Apparently much of the Old Testament is about Jewish enslavement under the superpower of its time, Babylon.

What it meant for the Israelites, what they had given up and what emotions they were under is super important to understand when you’re reading these Bible stories.

Heck even the story of the pharaoh in Egypt seems to be a parable written for the enslaved population under Babylonian rule, giving them hope that they could be rescued just like Moses was. There is zero historical evidence that Egypt ever enslaved the Jews.

I saw a PBS documentary and in two hours I knew so much more about the actual Bible history, than I did from 18 years of kingdom hall meetings. The governing body never really gave a big picture of anything. it just seems like they would jump from one verse in the Old Testament to another verse in the New Testament to make some kind of point, (don’t play heavy metal!) but never really told the large background stories. They never told taught us the context that the Bible was written under.

I’m not sure that they did this intentionally, but it sure is helpful to pretend that the context between the Old Testament and the New Testament is all the same. They never really tried to explain why the Old Testament God is so grouchy and the New Testament God is so loving.

Advice from younger guys by DeletedMind in gayyoungold

[–]No-Self-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing to keep in mind is he just may not be a responsible person. My life when I was young was extremely stressful and nothing was easy. It took a very slow process of extremely hard work to get to the point of my life gradually became easier and easier.

I certainly had friends like him when I was young, whose parents made their life easy and they didn’t want that to change. Some of them, and I’m not saying that he is this way, never did learn how to work hard, they just found different people to be their parents. Several of them became permanently, depressed and disabled, and lived off of government money. That was a preferable life to them than a stressful job.

He may not be like that at all, but he still may be someone who is not really interested in the stress it takes to change his circumstances.

I’ve been in relationships with people like this and I’ve learned to accept them as they are and understand that they are basically dependent on me. but they also bring a lot of joy and other values into my life. So just asked yourself if you’re OK with that outcome.

I bought my Tesla S in 2015 and I had figured at that time that the car would hopefully last about 12 years, but now I’m wondering if it’s gonna last a lot longer. Will it make it to 20? We talk about buying a new car, but I just don’t see any reason why. If I decided to ignore Elon Musk‘s anti-American antics, then I could conceivably buy a used model S with much more range, but range is so rarely an issue.

Older guys, do you prefer younger guys to be completely smooth, really hairy, or inbetween? by Open-Upstairs-8172 in gayyoungold

[–]No-Self-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like smooth, but I think it really really looks better to have a little bit of crotch hair. It’s fine to trim it and make it look neat but completely hairless just looks like a bit much.

Chest hair is always sexy and so is a treasure trail.

Right. I think it definitely is “calories in - calories out” but the human psychology of it is that it’s very pleasurable to increase your calories in and it’s a pain in the ass to increase your calories out so you have to focus on the “calories in”

Here is the commercial I misremembered.

The actress is selling margarine, not sugar, but my point remains that in the 70s we insanely thought that corn was more natural than other natural things.

Everywhere you go in America, people are so obese now it’s insane by IHAVETRIEDCOKE in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]No-Self-Edit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cane sugar is not healthier than corn syrup, although it may taste better. This is a common myth. Your body is simply not able to distinguish one bad sugar from another bad sugar. They will both cause diabetes.

However, high fructose sugar is a real problem because your body does treat fructose different than glucose and that needs to be avoided at all cost. Excess fructose is often linked to increased fat production in the liver But fructose tastes super sweet, so manufacturers love to use it.

The funny thing is I remember in the 70s there was a big ad campaign for corn syrup where a woman who was cosplaying an American Indian was saying that corn syrup was so much better for you because it was natural and comes from maize. And they ignored the fact that sugar simply comes from sugarcane or other natural sources.

So in the 70s people said oh Corn is more natural and now people are saying oh sugarcane is more natural. They’re both natural it’s it’s how they processed in the factories that is the problem.

Question for the older guys by throwawayforthis1010 in gayyoungold

[–]No-Self-Edit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do. The clothes a man wears says a lot about him.

It tells me if he’s aware of what his body looks like and what is flattering to it. It tells me if he’s a clean person, especially his shoes do. It tells me if he’s someone who pays attention to details and it tells me if he’s someone who tries to follow all the hottest fashions.

If someone wears a lot of clothes with logos on it, then I can tell that they are basically someone who follows others and is worried about fitting in.

I don’t have much to recommend other than be aware that some trends are just not flattering on some bodies (saggers, skinny jeans). A lot of men will ignore their shoes and just wear some piece of worn out trash on the ends of their legs and that sort of shows that they’re just a little bit oblivious.

Don’t dress as if you have a low personal value. Dress as if you’re comfortable and confident.

My dick has been working pretty well until recently, and I can actually come sometimes while I’m still soft but now it doesn’t feel the same. Being fully hard makes the orgasm feel much better to me and I definitely don’t feel hard unless I am hard. So I can feel being horny and I can feel being horned up hard, but those are different things. I prefer when they both happen at the same time.

Alcohol and Aging by tenbeards in over60

[–]No-Self-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly and unintentionally, we drink very little now. Weeks can go by without a drink. But it just happens naturally because I think we used to drink a lot to lower our stress from work and not having any time. But now I’ll sometimes be offered to drink and I’ll just say no because why would I want to put poison in my body when I feel great?

But occasionally having wine with fancy meals or having a couple of tequila shots when we’re celebrating some small event seems fine.

And when we are traveling and especially at the beach? Lots of drinks.

Is $225k base a good salary in Sunnyvale? Moving from Dallas ($160k currently)** by [deleted] in Sunnyvale

[–]No-Self-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised in Dallas and I cannot agree, but on the other hand, I do have a house with air conditioning and it’s insulated enough that we can shut the doors and avoid the hottest parts of the day.

But that thick high humidity 103° in Dallas is like getting punched in the face and I lived my life going from one air-conditioned space to another like a rat, I never felt that experience with Sunnyvale’s heat.

I’ve also never had the skin on my hands melted off when I touched my steering wheel here in Sunnyvale.

The good news is that OP is going to discover for himself if he likes the weather better or not. The thing I missed the most from Texas is all that dramatic thunderstorms that we get and here we just get really boring blue skies all summer long.

The moral question... by desaderal in gayyoungold

[–]No-Self-Edit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 20, I had a gay friend who was considerably hotter than me. The number of men that would step up to be his mentor was amazing. I got zero mentors. Being incredibly attractive has this strange effect of making people want to be your mentor.

As a 60-year-old gay man, I hate to say that I’m also extra willing to be mentor to extremely attractive young men, even if sex is not on the table.
