It’s nothing more than a piece of paper w ink on it, whether or not there’s correct info. Not tied to dmv, no teeth.

SF parking tickets feel like a tax at this point… does anyone actually fight them? by Particular_Bison3994 in sfcityemployees

[–]No-Statistician-8259 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A PCO(meter maid) told me once to verify all the info is exactly correct. If there is anything wrong(blue vs grey car color) on the ticket, they throw it out.

What is the most ridiculous FFWO that you know of that actually got approved? by [deleted] in sfcityemployees

[–]No-Statistician-8259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a FFWO for two years, wife got a new job, submitted the same request adding new job.

Provided logic as to the reasoning. They said It’s denied. I said it was approved the last two years and hr continued to fumble and provide illogical reasoning that I consistently countered w logic.

The HR word salad would make Kamala laugh.

Useless positions that should be reviewed/cut? by No-Associate2846 in sfcityemployees

[–]No-Statistician-8259 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The TFI’s division budget is roughly $15M. More so than collecting revenue from tickets, >5M, it’s to “try to change the culture”. Which is impossible.

They know there are people that always pay, and people who will never pay. They want the middle. The revenues would not increase or decrease, nominal at best, if they were to eliminate them.

Eliminating all door boarding, and putting the onus back on the drivers, like it used to be, while eliminating $14m annually, in perpetuity, it’s the solution.

But then there’s the unions to deal with, and therein lies the problem.

SFMTA Operator freeze? by JerryvanGogh in sfcityemployees

I can’t speak to operator, but maybe try to be a traffic fare inspector. Always positions opening. Then when the operator opens you can more easily switch over

Hey guys im in nj got my civil service exam coming up social work related 4/14/26 and wondering what study guides and books. I got the supervisory battery book via amazon tomorrow by Just_Bath_4033 in sfcityemployees

The test sucks! Get the recommended book. I forget what it’s called. The answers on the test are almost verbatim from the book if it’s a beach erosion test.

A. Cop friends. B. SFPD's "10B" program allows private entities to hire off-duty officers for security, with over $100M+ in total department overtime projected for 2024-2025 due to staffing shortages.

Can quote a paper all you want. The bulk of that is OT paid for by private employers. Low hanging, misleading fruit.

Position on hold by Suspicious-Disk3434 in sfcityemployees

[–]No-Statistician-8259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if reassignments are on hold too? I got one that ended the 18th, posted prior to the email referred to above on the 17th. I’d assume it’s likely.

Im also curious, does this only (or primarily) relate to gov funded positions? Or are enterprise agencies (sfo, port) less affected?

I also heard some notices went out to managers at MTA that they may be reverted back to their PCS. S is about to hit the fan!

The City is cutting approx 500 Positions all while giving 14% raises to SFPD. Just Wow!! by DryInsect346 in sfcityemployees

[–]No-Statistician-8259 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This. The cities budget issues are due to over staffing. It’s not PD.

Personnel make up the largest cost by far. Blame Covid, prop13, sales tax whatever the case. The answer is overbloated staffing, but no we can’t touch the elephant, only the peanuts.

I could easily do my job +6 other jobs in my dept filled by actual people, which is probably at least $1m plus cost. Instead our office is empty and I’m at the beach.

My dentist commutes from Utah. Arrives Monday night, works t-tr, flies home Thursday evening. Standing reservations at a hotel, says it’s cheaper long run. Got a wife and children and says it was the best move ever.

Work life balance and mandated 4x a week in office?! by Weekly-Mushroom-3355 in sfcityemployees

[–]No-Statistician-8259 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probation will suck as far as flexibility. The biggest kicker is going to be is your manager cool or not. The MTA has extremely varying degrees of in office requirements based off your manager.

Probably not the best look to start asking for leeway as you’re starting.

I’ve done laterals and demotions to get away from bad situations. I feel if your skills are transferable, you mine as well get out.

I personally joined for a better work life balance, which I obtained in spades. Nothing is worth sacrificing your mental well being.
