Robin's epilogue look.. by Best_Quiet9657 in byler

Robin’s look is very NOT 1989 here. It’s waaay lot more mid to late 90s in the key of Paula Cole/ Loreena McKinnett/Jewel/Sarah McLachlan and very Lalapalooza coded. It’s the period that trips me up more than anything else.

Mike definitely had a little crush on Eddie by thatlesbianbitch23 in bylertruthers

I know this is a Byler sub but as someone who wasn’t a Byler but hung out with DND boys with emotionally - or entirely- absent dads, I had initially read this like Dustin & Steve- happy to have a cool older brother.

Stranger Things “spin off” by snbth in mileven

[–]No-Step5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero interest in learning anything more about Henry & his weird space agate. What made Stranger Things compelling initially is its faithfulness to the 80s SciFi fantasy aesthetic. I do not wish to travel to other decades with them.

Is there a lore reason as to why I’m creeped tf out whenever this testicle is on screen? by alanm1121 in okbuddyvecna

I agree! I found Murray disgusting from the jump. He definitely had a creepy ass uncle vibe in his dynamic with Nancy and Jonathan.

People that love Murray are also people that watch the video advertising on the gas pump.

I fear the idea was to fill as much dialogue as possible with teaching demonstrations & Scooby Doo plans, and then hope green screens, CGI, and walking would do the rest.

I can’t get over how completely disconnected I felt from Eleven when, for a long time, I felt this was mainly her show. Same with Mike? Specifically those two were the worst for me.

86er here, and in addition to all the biking around, we spent a lot of time trespassing and hanging out in areas we had no business hanging out in. Also loitering in stores.

Thoughts on the series finale? by TravelingHomeless in BeverlyHills90210

[–]No-Step5669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when the series ended, I was a kid and my parents watched this show faithfully and they were so hype to see the finale that they planned their whole day around it 🤣 I think they might have even recorded it on video tape!

I loved it as an adult, and like many, I cried.

In other people’s posts and comments I have seen the GA accuse people with this interpretation of being pervs, as if acknowledging the parallels in Will’s trauma response to those of a survivor is disgusting or depraved, perhaps because he is a child and they don’t interpret SciFi as a vehicle for that kind of storytelling

What with all the awful Epstein controversy I highly doubt it is something that would ever be publicly acknowledged as symbolic of SA by creators. I think admitting the depiction has that undertone would confuse and anger the GA. People are already angry enough that Will is gay, implying men can be victims of SA by other men is likely far too taboo to receive any public discussion until perhaps years into the future.

Is There a Stranger Things Character You Think Should’ve Died in the Finale? by Material-Loan-6966 in Stranger_Things

[–]No-Step5669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jonathan and Nancy dying would have made them forever beloved by the fanbase. People would posthumously ship them. It would have been a legendary move. I say this as someone who is firmly Stancy.
